This is 100% true, we need to make sure that we are trading something that is getting a lot better returns on the long run so utility makes more sense whereas hype is only good for short term.

In my opinion the main reason to trust altcoin for the long term is these utility. On the other hand investing in memecoin is very risky, they can be traded for short term gains but there are definitely risks in the long run

I really agree with everything you say. This happened from what I saw myself with the Solana memecoin which has become a huge hype lately, even some memecoins have increased 100% or even 1000%, this is really crazy.
But the problem is that having anything to do with hype will always end in regret in the future when holding for the long term in the hope of getting bigger profits.

Incidents like this often happen and we often see on twitter that many investors regret investing in memecoin which was only based on hype but experienced huge losses.

Basically these days all altcoins are being created for speculative purposes and for that choose some broad markets of altcoins space like meme, defi. In my opinion, no coin or token could be created without any real world utility but it is still created with the promise of achieving something bigger in near future. So, utility is something which must be associated with every token already but the availability of that utility may remain as a promise forever with most tokens which is the real problem here in this altcoin space.

Dogecoin could be one of the first generation memecoin with no actual use case but it became popular among crypto community and later Elon Musk adapted it to pump it. I like your definition to distinguish between crypto utility and hype, hype is for traders who gamble their funds for quick profit while utility is for investors who wants to hold coins that have potentials to last. I don't get carried away by hypes because I've seen many projects fail especially the memecoins that are affiliated with celebrities and a lot of investors have lost their money. There are a lot of scams in cryptocurrency and they are the hyped tokens. Talking about utility I know a couple of them like BNB and Ethereum have use cases but I basically trust Bitcoin more since it has far wider reach than the rest of the top altcoins.

If you choose to invest in altcoins with hypes, then you should know that you are going to lose at the end. If you invest in them when there is hype, if the hype gradually goes down, then you should know that the coin which you invested in is also goin down, and at the end you going to hear that the coin is dead already, and you going to be losing your money, so investing in coin which have no use case, and are pumped base on hype is completely wrong.

If you invest in a coin with use case, you will know that even if the coin price drops, with time it’s going to bounce back, and you going to be in profit. Actually no altcoins are suppose to be trusted, but it’s better you invest in the one with use case if you want to invest in altcoins.
