I would like to ask a personal question about when an entrepreneur should look for employees. What is the right way to retain them and keep them interested in your company? I appreciate creative and abstract ideas.
When you say the word entrepreneur you kind of suggest that we're talking about a small business, in which case you need to be careful who and how generous you are along the journey. While it seems like a good idea to share a portion of the business, in the form of shares, with loyal colleagues - it can also backfire if they decide to bail out. You could potentially solve that by attaching terms and requirements related to length of service before the shares become eligible if you wanted to go that route. Besides that, just treat your employees like decent human beings and how you would want to be treated yourself. Being even slightly more generous than the basic packages offered by other companies can put you leagues ahead, but make sure people don't abuse that generosity as well.
