Hello my local board members I came across this news today where I saw a list of how many people in different countries accept or use Bitcoin. The country where the highest number of people use Bitcoin is India, a country in Asia, with about ninety-three million people using Bitcoin. It can be said that they are the leaders in the use of digital currencies, but accordingly, our Nigeria is not far behind. The current position of this country is number 4, that is,18 million of our Nigerian population are using Bitcoin. This is undoubtedly a positive sign because the use of digital currencies is increasing day by day, which may be creating an alternative financial system for the people of this country. It is hoped that the currency will become more widely used in Nigeria in the future. Number of people who own #Bitcoin: 1. India: 93M 2. United States: 46M 3. China: 41M 4. Nigeria: 18M 5. Vietnam: 17M 6. Indonesia: 14M 7. Turkey: 12M 8. Philippines: 10M 9. Brazil: 9M 10. Pakistan: 7M 11. Mexico: 7M 12. Argentina: 7M 13. South Africa: 6M 14. Thailand: 5M 15. Russia: 5M 16. It's pretty amazing how you were able to come up with this information though am not sure how authentic and true this information is but regardless the fact well done bro and I will still do my little findings on it too.
Nigerians has always been a lovers of bitcoin right from time and it seems no big deal to me if they are at this position on the world map. However, regardless how our government are currently not buying the idea of legalizing bitcoin as a legal tender and also for other businesses transactions I believe with time and for the way bitcoin is spreading wild things might just change hands some day.

That's great, I've done some research too and found 23 million crypto users in Nigeria, actually these results are rather estimates from various information sources but the good things is that a good percentage of Nigerians are using crypto for both transactional and trading services and it is soothing to know that the citizens are getting more involves and moving with the crypto trend regardless of our government not being very friendly towards cryptocurrency use in the country.

This figures may not be authentic as Nigeria database is extremely poor. Someone can falsify figures and post it on the Internet and people will believe it to be authentic. Nigeria may have a large Crypto community who are involved in bitcoin trading and related activities but these figures doesn't seem authentic. We don't have database for Crypto users let alone to mentioned the 26M users which is fabricated. The points is, we can't believe these figures circulating on the Internet as they can be falsify.

It's all just a speculation. We can't even give an accountable number of people we have in the country through census, not to talk of total number of bitcoin users.
We know that a vast majority of today's youth are into the crypto inductry but knowing the exact amount would be absurd. It's a good thing to see Nigeria amongst the top rated.
And the I guess the coming 2026 tax law might drive the number even higher because majority would not want to leave their money in banks anymore.

Thanks OP for sharing this information with us but I no know how authentic wey di source wey you get am from be because I no know how possible e go be to get accurate data of people wey de use Bitcoin inside any country. Bitcoin na decentralized currency and asset wey de give privacy for people wey hold am for none custodial wallets, I no think say any data fit to authentically identify regions or countries wey every Bitcoin holders de. To di best of my knowledge na only Bitcoin wey owners hold for exchange accounts and platforms na im government or data fit to capture. So I believe say many Nigerians hold Bitcoin and all over di world wey data no fit to count, na only when you de talk about di total Bitcoin in circulation data fit to capture.

The post you referenced does not explain how the data was obtained neither did it give any reference to a trusted source that have the means of generating such data. Hence, I feel the information is something anyone can sit somewhere and generate which make me doubt the authenticity of the post. Many people hold Bitcoin in the countries listed but there is no way to confirm the numbers are what was posted there.

I think this number for Nigeria is just a rough estimate... We cannot really tell how many people are currently in Nigeria. When last was a census conducted in the country.... I personally think that there are way more people who are actively using Bitcoin, directly or indirectly in the country but most if them are hidden due to the way the government reacts whenever it involves crypto. Yes Nigerians definitely are one of the people who use Bitcoin the most but the number is what I'm not so sure of. And the adoption and usage is bound to grow even more

Thi is not back in the years that we still count how many people have accepted Bitcoin, it has been widely accepted now and I am not surprised to see the number of users and of course as time goes we will keep seeing the numbers go higher as many people will keep joining once they are aware of the benefits If you look at most of these countries at the top (excluding United States and China) you will see that they are mostly countries with low job opportunity and high unemployment rate which are filled with many struggling individuals. People there see Bitcoin as a way out for them, they see it as a source of income that's why there are high number of adopters in the country. Bitcoin has really been helpful for many so I am not surprised seeing Nigeria at the top having a high number of users.

The information you have shared here seems very positive regarding our Bitcoin adoption in Nigeria but the data mentioned here is interesting but how it was collected is not explained in detail. I have read the statistics register on crypto and Bitcoin adoption in Nigeria which clearly states that between 2015 and 2020, our Nigerians traded $566 million worth of Bitcoin on various crypto platforms and it is noteworthy that Nigeria was ranked second globally in LocalBitcoins P2P trading volume, we have spent a lot of time there so it is clear that the number of Bitcoin enthusiasts here is increasing and will continue to increase over time. However, you should read this article because here are the statistics on Bitcoin and crypto adoption in Nigeria. Crypto & Bitcoin Adoption Statistics in Nigeria (2025) - https://breet.io/blog/crypto-and-bitcoin-adoption-statistics-in-nigeriaThe Nigerian cryptocurrency movement began picking up momentum, spurred in part by Ponzi schemes like MMM that drew attention to Bitcoin. That same period saw LocalBitcoins in Nigeria rank second globally in P2P trading volume. Between 2015 and 2020, Nigerians traded roughly $566 million worth of Bitcoin on various crypto platforms

And the adoption and usage is bound to grow even more I doubt there's an exact statistical data to actually depict the number of Bitcoin owners in Nigeria, because even those that have a huge BTC portfolio pretend not to know anything about it due to rising insecurity and government probe. Unless there is a Blockchain explorer that could easily identify the geographical region a bitcoiners is trading or transacting from, then it would be quite difficult to quantify or guess exactly how many Bitcoin owners are in Naija.

How accurate is this information because this seems too good to be true , how many people dey for naija sef because I no even trust census people to give me the correct number of people wey dey for naija. I'm not entirely saying that this is a false information but I think I will do my research by myself though I may not even get the correct number of people using Bitcoin. However I will be happy if this information is true because many have really adopted Bitcoin in Nigeria and some are on the low key due to security reasons, Nigeria at the number four of countries that are holding Bitcoin is mind blowing.

I cannot say whether the statistics you have given are completely authentic or not. But seeing such statistics creates confidence among ordinary investors. Investing in Bitcoin is a personal demand of investors. We never pressure anyone to invest in Bitcoin.
Investors are interested in saving on a reliable platform. There is no alternative to Bitcoin as a reliable platform. The decentralized nature of Bitcoin makes it even more attractive. People's trust in Bitcoin is increasing day by day. We should also start investing in Bitcoin without wasting time.
In my opinion, such statistics are encouraging for us.

About 68% of Nigeria's population directly or indirectly uses bitcoin, making it the world's largest user base. IntelPointTotal crypto users 26M+ Total bitcoin users 18-20M+ We all know the main reason why Nigeria is having such an exploding number of users of Bitcoin and cryptocurrency generally. You know our economy is staggering and the unemployment rate is super high; most people have found themselves jobs in crypto. Secondly, cryptocurrency, "Bitcoin," is an alternative way or a means of buying and sending money abroad since it's faster, cheaper, and even seamless. As we know today, it's very difficult to access dollars in Nigeria, making it difficult for people in Nigeria to import goods from abroad. So since the adoption of Bitcoin in Nigeria, the majority of people have now resorted to paying their dealer through Bitcoin and cryptocurrency; therefore, when a businessperson hears or is told by his neighbor about his means of purchasing goods, that person will get interested. Lastly, Bitcoin presents an investment opportunity, and people in Nigeria haven't been opportuned by this kind of investment before.

According to this research, Nigeria been dey second place in 2024. With the kind industrial adoption way dey go on abroad, I no dey surprised say this year Nigeria don dropped go 4th place. That one no mean say bitcoin don lose popularity among Nigerians na just say we no get institutions here way dey buy bitcoins.

You're right I also disagree with the information, because it is nearly impossible for everyone to get the accurate number of bitcoin owners. Or maybe the person is just assuming, but funny enough to see that op was naive to believe that such information could be true, And perhaps seeing nigeria in top 4 is still very surprising to me, and that is what got me convinced that the information provided by op is not accurate it could be one of those people that like cooking lies on X. Op seems to have forgotten that most of the information that is gotten from X are fake.

To me I will say that this data is just an arrangement of the most populated countries in the world and they can just assume that the country that has the higher population will still have more people that are using Bitcoin. When I saw the title of this topic I was thinking you were going to give list of countries starting with the ones that have the highest Bitcoin reserve. India has a very high population and I will assume that it is why they also have more people that are using Bitcoin instead of other countries that have smaller population.

No be so. Chainalysis dey use different factors as benchmark like on-chain crypto value, retail activity, and institutional flows then them go come calculate everything to take rank the countries. You go fit see the benchmark for this table below. https://www.chainalysis.com/blog/2025-global-crypto-adoption-index/
