Self-exclusion: Protection or a Pointless Peature?

Self exclusion is very dangerous tool since it is closed door which individual can still open if he/she struggles to do so. Although you can get around block by visiting other sites, its actual goal is to put speed bump on you so that you can slow down and hopefully change your mind. But banning site is just surface level solution that does not resolve the real cause of why an individual feels need to gamble, particularly in 2025 when numerous sites have been created that allow one to play without ID. Ultimately, self exclusion is not bad thing, but it is more effective as backup to therapy and not a complete cure, since computer button cannot replace personal willpower.

With the online casino they dont have this kind of feature because every players are welcome to play but of course there are some restriction happens regard with the self-exlusion possible the player disober the terms of the casino probably they will get prohibits to play of course if there's a restriction with IP detected and even with the KYC if submitted. Now in terms of physical casino they are offering this kind of act which if the players dont want to play anymore and want to quit gambling they have the rights to get banned with the casino.

If ever this feature applied to a casino such as in crypto i guess its kinda useless at the first place its the favorite of the casino to have a active player to their platform and also its the accountability of the player if they will get addicted and quit playing gambling.

for me it’s protection just not a perfect one. I see self exclusion more as a speed bump not a total lock when a player already feels that wait it is too much already that extra barrier can help stop an impulsive decision even a short pause can make a difference also not everyone who uses self exclusion is totally out of control some players still have awareness & just want a safeguard before things get worse for them the feature actually works. I agree that it doesn’t fix the root cause those need real support not just a setting so yeah it’s not a cure all but it’s definitely not pointless.

you've said it all, self exclusion doesn't really break addiction totally because at anytime gamblers can decide to create another gambling account. But what works for one might not work for another so I wouldn't really call oy a pointless feature because some gamblers use it to restrict themselves and it actually works for them. it has a lot to do with discipline and deciding not to gamble for a while

Aside from deciding to create another gambling account, I don't think it's easy for addicted gamblers to stop, even after self-isolating. However, there will be a compulsion that keeps them wanting to gamble, and they'll then find other ways to continue gambling.

However, for gamblers with strong self-awareness, I believe they don't need to self-isolate. If they're truly aware, they'll stay away from gambling. This is more about individual self-control. But self-isolation is also a way to achieve positive results.
