This is certainly true if the government provides rehabilitation centers for addicts, but I suspect that even countries that legalize gambling don't all provide rehabilitation centers to treat addicts. The government's job is to improve the well-being of its citizens, and it's a good thing if the government provides rehabilitation centers with the clear goal of treating and even curing addicts.

I think it could be only in advanced countries where the government are providing rehabilitation center for gamblers and this also depends if the government have enough facilities to handle people with high addiction. What I am most aware about is a rehabilitation center for thsoe that are having mental challneges to aid them with the help of doctors and drugs that will help them stay in good conditions.

It is also the most common possibility because for countries that are still considered as developing or even underdeveloped countries, their focus is not on this but the welfare of their own people.

Although gambling in the end is always considered to be one of the conditions where the welfare of the people decreases but they will not prioritize something like this.
I think this also goes back to our own responsibility as gamblers because we don't just have to rely on the government when the effects of addiction occur but we have to play a big role in making this condition comfortable for us. We gamble on our own terms and it would be ridiculous to pass this on to the government at the end when we are addicted.

Similar to what happens in other countries which depend much on the taxes of people and suffer from corruption and inefficiency of their politicians and burocrats. I would also happily pay my taxes if that meant to live in a country with high tech infrastructure, no power blackouts in the electrical system, with well-kept oil refineries and a competitive health-care system for people not to die prematurely, but those in power cannot expect us to pay a significant amount of money we earn and be happy about it when we live in a country which is a mess.

It does not necessarily have anything to do with gambling, because there are countries which suffer from those same problems and do not allow gambling or do not tax it, but Nigeria is a very good example of what is wrong with the system of governance in many developing countries.

Yes, the casinos have bigger taxes to pay because of how profitable they are. So, in life, the bigger the income we get, the bigger taxes we pay. The government doesn't really care about your gambling losses, which is why taxing gambling winnings should never be in the picture. Unless they have a proper way of subtracting losses from the winnings, whatever remains should be the one to be taxed, and they should not only be focused on who is winning. The casinos are already remitting enough tax from the customers' loss records, which should've been enough.

As usual, the government will use all of its power to get money from the citizens of the country to feed itself. By all means, they will make us poor people become poorer while rich people become richer.

That is why I’m not surprised at how things work in gambling. For the government, it is an easy source of revenue. Unfortunately, the unfair treatment of gamblers sometimes pushes people in the opposite direction. When taxes become unreasonable, the more it triggers illegal casino's operations.

Honestly, i'm thinking the same thing. We all know that taxes are something we must pay on our income, whether from real life work or gambling. Essentially, as long as there are binding tax regulations, it's an obligation. Unlike my country, where gambling doesn't have clear tax regulations, and in fact gambling is still restricted by the government.

However, it would be better if the government also considered the best course of action if a gambler loses. As you said, perhaps the government could give a small amount of money to losing gamblers, instead of simply coming to collect their winnings under the guise of taxes and then disappearing after losing.

Its their choice, no matter how they will tax and disturb people for what they don't work for it, people will still continue to survive and do their normal activities.

No one is happy with that 20% deduction from the total winnings because it's 1/5 of a gamble's profit. And they won't consider if you've lost a lot and you're just trying to recover.

People hate taxation, whether they are benefiting from it or not, they will still complain, I'm not against paying tax but when it's not used for any purposeful thing by the government but rather used personally for themselves, that's when I have problem with it. Even if people complain about tax, at least if the money is used for the betterment of a country and the people are seeing the result, they won't have to complain like many Nigerians are complaining about the government not making good use of the tax they are collecting.
