Omnibrane / Omni Wallet – Red Flags Suggest Possible Scam

What happened:: This user is promoting a project called Omnibrane. Their website is only 3 days old. After accessing the project's wallet, called Omni Wallet, it has a simple interface and asks users to "ENTER YOUR 25-WORD MNEMONIC PHRASE", which is a serious red flag that could indicate an attempt to steal assets..

It's also worth noting that Omni Network (OMNI) has rebranded to Nomina (NOM) and undergone a 1:75 swap from the old contract to the new one. This suggests the site is targeting users of the old Omni project. [CMC]

Examining the project’s GitHub, many repositories are present, but most are forked and not prominent original projects. Their Twitter account created in March 2024 with 4,058 followers, has not posted any updates about this website so far.. In contrast, there are many trusted wallets, such as Trust Wallet or Ledger, for securely sending and receiving NOM tokens, the successor of OMNI

Typical case of a mnemonic phrase/private key phishing scam. Thankfully, the moderators have deleted the topic. The account has been tagged, and I am creating a type 1 flag as well.
The user seems to have created another scam like trading bot topic back in September that edited it recently. His intention are not positive here.

It's good as you create the awareness, because without exposing these scam, it will be on other people's neck, some people may not know and fall victim

I have notice that his thread has been deleted by the moderators, I think all eyes will be open to observe a similar scam trap when it will be create by same user, because such kind of mnemonic phrase/private key phishing scam, says by "Bitcoin_Arena" it can be introduce at anytime, if its introduce know that is same user, maybe he went to rephrased it to another form...let our eyes be open.

Thank you to those raising concerns. Security skepticism is healthy in this space, and I want to address the claims factually and clearly.

1. No Affiliation With Omni Network (OMNI) or Nomina (NOM)

Omnibrane is not affiliated with Omni Network (OMNI), Nomina (NOM), or any rebrand, token swap, or wallet associated with those projects.

Omnibrane is a separate, unrelated project

I do not support OMNI or NOM tokens

I do not target holders of legacy Omni assets

I guess Omni is a popular name. Any similarity in naming is coincidental and not intentional brand overlap.

At no point have I claimed association, migration, or support for Omni/Nomina assets.


2. Clarifying the “Omni Wallet” / Mnemonic Phrase Allegation

This point deserves clarity.

Omnibrane no longer promotes a web wallet that requests mnemonic phrases from OUR users. This was a quick way to launch and get users on the network. It is not phising of ANY kind. It was intended for Omnibrane USE ONLY.

3. Domain Age & Project Maturity

Yes — the omnibrane.xyz domain is recent.

This does not imply malicious intent.

The project has existed internally far longer than the public website. We have been working on the network for almost 2 years.

5. Twitter / Communication Timing

The Twitter account predates the website launch and has not yet been used to promote it heavily. This reflects a deliberate rollout order, not deception.

Silence on social media is not evidence of fraudulent behavior.

We have since begun tweeting and it is going well.


6. What Omnibrane Actually Is (For Avoiding Future Confusion)

To prevent further misunderstanding:

Omnibrane is not a token migration

Omnibrane is not a trading bot (my prior project was an experiment)

Omnibrane is an infrastructure protocol for autonomous capital execution.

Any user-facing UI shown to date has been experimental and non-custodial.

This is the reason why people should be that careful when it comes to visiting and making use of their wallet and whatever, since I ceased from lurking for altcoin that is how I had peace and have not lose anything for long now, and whatever site that I may connect that is asking for seed phrase then I will have to know that it is a deliberate act and wanting to steal my money.

Yes, this is why we wanted to make it easy and safe for users.

If you review discontinued wallet interface, you see "create an account", receive a 25 word seedphrase, then "load account."

It is clearly displayed in screenshots.

Hopefully, we can resolve and reinstate our post since we cleared things up.

I tend to believe you, but you need to show this on the site's homepage and post a warning about Recovery Words (25 words) or at least create a list of words far away from bip-0039/english.

Not sure if this is still a thing with X/Twitter accounts, there's a chance that it's probably an account that the scammers have bought so they don't have to worry about their credibility or it's just a good old bot followers. Nice catch OP, it really is weird that people still wants to use new wallets when there's already an established one and I get that sometimes if not most of the time those wallets don't support the cryptocurrency they're trying to buy or isn't available yet but come on, at least have the decency to check on the official channels just in case especially if it involves a lot of money, really scary to get scammed when you don't have a lot of money.

It is already showing in Google and can be damaging moving forward.

I guess another option is a rebrand and relaunch with AI only. Let me know what makes sense to everyone.

Thank you for acknowledging your mistake and the risks raised in this thread regarding the request for mnemonic phrases from users..

Publicly sharing the wallet link was something I should have warned the community about especially since your platform is relatively new and carries the name of a popular project which could have caused potential misdirection for users.

Now that you've resolved the issue and removed the old anti-pattern interface and replaced it with > an AI interface that doesn't request any mnemonic phrases from users , everything is fine. It would also be a good idea to include a warning clarifying that this project is not affiliated with NOM/OMNI, as our respected member @hugeblack suggested, to ensure clarity for everyone.

Yes, I didn't realize when I launched that is was such a popular name. I have my design team working on a rebrand and relaunch.

That seems like best way forward to avoid confusion and have a clean slate. I could do a new thread tomorrow morning (P.S.T.).

That would be really good ,as the name is important for the success of any new project and to avoid confusion for new users if your project’s name resembles that of another project.

Yes, it is better to start a new brand with this new interface,, which reduces risks for users compared to the previous interface.

Perhaps adding more audits to review the protocol and interface, as well as adding official communication channels and updating the project's social media links and similar items, it would be even better.

As for me, I support what you are planning to do. Best of luck to you and your team.

Researching or checking for brand/business name in google for existing ones is very important before buying domains and registering it as a business to avoid future headaches.

p.s. New name will be Holobrane (just registered domain ;-)

Alright, as for me, I just removed my support of the warning flag and I will change the negative trust to neutral so that the previous situation remains documented in the trust history. @Bitcoin_Arena may also do the same, since you have now started with a new brand that is different from the previous one.

As for the new Holobrane project that you have recently launched, I have already reviewed it and posted my feedback in your announcement thread and raised many important questions that need clear answers from you.

I advise everyone to do their own research before making any decisions, interacting with their wallet, or participating in any airdrop they offer.
