Hi.

As following I will start the collection of incidents where some cryptocurrency (or other asset) has made a remarkably big price increase in a relatively short time period (for example 100x per year or 10x per day).

Who has the best memory?

If my memory serves me well, I can remember some significant events that this 2025 alone brought and it began from mid July when there was the acceleration phase, the institutional spring that happened in May , the uptober or October liquidation squeeze and the current December Christmas volatility.
All these events are caused by derivative clusters because of the increased rate of trading leverage between 10x -50x more .

Memecoins? You can simply go to a price aggregator like CMC and go to the "Gainers" tab.

Generally, whales have already taken their profits at the peak, and that's the end of the hype, so coins with such a bullish pattern become unattractive after a while. I don't know what the point of creating such a list is.

Why is this in trading discussion? This should be about altcoins discussion.

As following I will start the collection of incidents where some cryptocurrency (or other asset) has made a remarkably big price increase in a relatively short time period (for example 100x per year or 10x per day).

You can also have the incidents when the coins significantly dump so much that it can drop in price 10 to 100x within some period of time. This will help people to know how volatile many coins can be.

Do you still remember those times when the price suddenly pumps or declines?

Actually, you don't need to memorize them; the internet already has historical data about those incidents and news. If you want to check that historical data, check these two links below.

Or better check the chart itself in a daily time frame; you should be able to noticed those sharp drops and pumps.

I think they're there just for fomo. You can't really seek good projects from there because there are many things. If someone launches a token with 100 tokens in total supply, they can easily get 1000x in a day or so. Are you sure they're meaningful? As mentioned above, I don't see how this is helpful unless you're looking from a team pov who wants to market and induce fomo better.

Dogecoin was pumped in 2021 from ~30 satoshi (in BTC price) to ~1100 satoshi in less than 10 months of time. Elon Musk was in background for this. People are still expecting another round of similar pump from Musk at any time soon.

Bitcoin was pumped from 10k to 19.5k in December 2017. It was almost 100% growth in less than 25 days of time.

On March 2020, bitcoin plumped down from 10k to 3.5k level due to pandemic fear. In a single day, bitcoin suffered more than 60% downfall.

The pump that comes to my mind is the one that happened on btc day, May 22. Bitcoin made some gains more than $10,000 in a day and I think that is worthy to mention because it was a Bitcoin day, I will keep my eyes on that day to see if that will be repeated. Another was though a dump, price plummeted and decended on Oct 22 from around $115,000 to $107,000 that caused some traders death and raised distrust among the people and since then, the price have been dropping gradually.

Instead of relying on people opinion here which may not be perfectly correct in term of the timing, just visit trading view and type any asset tou are interested in to see the chart from where you can spot the price jumps or periods where there were rapid rise within a short time. This will give you more accurate result than opinion of people here. You can combine trading view with Google to know what triggered some of the sharp rise in prices when you already know the time it happened.

You have to be careful, though. Some of those crypto coins or meme coins are just pump and dump projects, a coin can not pump by 100x in just a matter of hours and then drops back to a way less price than it started trading from with in those 24-48 hours

One of the biggest and oldest cryptocurrencies Dogecoin (DOGE) made 238x in half year (08.11.2020-09.05.2021). 08.11.2020  $0.00267 and 09.05.2021 $0.6358.


The biggest Bitcoin price jump was the year 2013 when BTC made 55x (01.01.2013 $13.22, 31.12.2013 $732).
This year 2013 was remarkable in the Bitcoin context in at least seven reasons: 1)2013 was the year of the biggest price increases, the fact that the biggest price increases emerged not earlier that at the FIFTH year is remarkable. 2)The first rich/prominent BTC investors emerged in 2013 (Winklevoss twins and others). 3)The first Bitcoin ATM was installed in 2013. 4)Bitcoin was titled as the best investment of the year in 2013. 5)2013 was the birth year of the term HODL. 6)2013 was the end of Silk Road. 7)2013 was by far the best year (and the last year) for Mt Gox, the leading crypto exchange in 2010-2013.

In accordance with my subjective opinion, just 2013 was the year when Bitcoin became the "real" asset (like stocks, real estate, precious metals, commodities). Before (2009-2012) BTC was felt something like "play money" and every penny you get from exchanging BTC to "real money" was acknowledged as pure profit. In the right time and place (for example June 19, 2011 in Mt Gox) BTC was sold as little as $0.01/BTC.
In this context 2014 seems more similar to 2026 than 2012.
