What do you mean by compromised? If you mean privacy, Yes but security, No!

What Tor does is it helps you mask your identity, it protect your real IP address from been exposed when you connect to any website.

It doesn't save you from malware, hack or protect your wallet from any dangerous attack over the internet.

You don't have to ask him, he is trying to conceal his privacy from the internet which is legal, it's your right to use Tor if you don't want your real footstep on any website. You can do the same and it's not only limited to browser. You can use Tor to hide your IP address if you run a Bitcoin node.

Though, there is downside to using Tor, it can be slow and only available on Android phones, original Tor isn't available for apple phones.

Tor is for privacy, not security but when you use Tor, there are options for customizing your settings, including security like don't open links, images, for example, but basically Tor is buit for privacy.

As crypto investors, people should not use their phones for storage of their cryptocurrencies. Even it is your exchange accounts or your non custodial wallets, your phone is one of weakest and worst things for storage. It's like your hot wallet and reminder is don't store all or big part of your fund in hot wallets.

Hot wallets are for small funds, not big or all your fund.

TOR is not an anti-virus or anti-malware that prevents hacks or hijacks.  TOR is for privacy and anonymity since it protects users from tracking and ISP monitoring not a tool to prevent hacks or scans, detect and remove viruses and other malware programs.

So be informed that even though we are using TOR, we are still exposed and not protected from malwares and viruses.

It can help you for privacy but it does not make your device security stronger, it can not reduce or avoid the chance that will make your device to be compromised. If you download malware, your device can be compromised. Malware can be downloaded through Tor.

You are getting it wrong! TOR is used for privacy reasons not for security purpose (though it gives you network level protection, it cannot save your device from infecting with malwares or viruses that potentially compromisses the device). You get to surf the internet without exposing your real world identity (your IP address, location etc).

As for your friend, he is using TOR to hide his online activity, simply put he doesn't want his local ISP or the govt, to poke around on what he does, what he searches on the net.
Would you want your government to know you own 10 BTC? Surely you wouldn't, do does your friend. That's one of the reason he uses TOR.

Crypto is banned at my place, so whenever I visit sites related to Crypto, I try to use TOR. It gives me a certain level of anonymity.

Asides from Internet networks privacy through Tor browser, there is nothing internal as regards to your device that Tor browse helps to protect such as your crypto wallets and other investments apps on your phone.

Tor and VPN are both very similar.

Although the question of what you consider compromised and what you need to hide your IP for are really the only questions that I am interested in hearing right now. When you work as a freelancer or anything that is international you can use Tor some people do use it for different purposes but it doesn't guarantee safety of your phone or mobile device, but protects your privacy to a good extent.

 It will be considered privacy invasion in my opinion because what really led you to look into their phone you could know more and it becomes threat to them, it's good you didn't ask them directly but you can make a good communication then ask why one is using it.

What are you talking here? Privacy? Anonymity? or Security. If you answer privacy then yes, Tor can protect you because it can hide your real ip address thru different hops. Same with Anonymity although you can control what you wanted to share in the internet. And let's say you uses Tor for a Bitcoin wallet like Electrum then you can hide your real IP address so that those who wanted to track you might have a hard time although I believed that the nodes that you uses in Electrum cans till sniff your IP address and identification. If you says Security, then I don't think that any of them can help you out. Maybe a good safety practice is what you need or AV that you need to update. But still though, it depends on how you handle your security.

Actually, Tor on your phone is less secure!

This is because your phone can still emit cellular and GPS signals (or whatever other wireless technology is embedded like those emergency services that work even when you don't have a SIM), and cellular towers can triangulate your device. There is perhaps no remedy for this besides using GrapheneOS or something.

Also, whatever app has access to your location will break Tor's anonymity instantly.

It is much less secure than using it on a desktop/laptop.

Do you think TOR is enough to protects its user from scamming activities? I don't think it's enough because there are quite some presentable softwares that are more like Trojan horse and you never can see it coming. Scammers have improve their strategy and not just that, their methods this time around seems really legit and one can easily fall for then believing it's the right path to follow.

TOR can do the bidding and probably reduce the level or rate which we're expose to scams but it can't entirely prevent us from been victims of scams. We just have to do what's right and knowing our way back to the top.

You can use Tor browser only for hiding your IP address, both on desktop and mobile devices, but not as protection against compromising your devices.
Browsing internet with Tor browser is usually slower than standard browsers, and it has other custom settings that makes it a bit more complicated to use.
If you want to have better protection for your device than you should consider using Pixel Android device with GrapheneOS.

As far as I know is that Tor does not increase your security like getting malwares and such but it does increase your privacy and also hide your IP address. If you want a better privacy then you better use Tor if that's what you want but if not then it's up to you. Anyway, as I have explained and also by other forum members that Tor doesn't help you prevent from getting scammed or getting attacked by malware through downloading files or something similar.

No, Tor Browser does not prevent your phone or computer from getting compromise and it is used for online anonymity or privacy, i.e., protection from surveillance by hiding, encrypting traffic, and ip address.

Tor Browser does have several security features that can prevent your identity from being exposed or warn you about malicious activity. Once, I tried doing something dangerous using Tor Browser. I downloaded a malicious .exe file and received a warning, but I continued downloading and installing it. You know what happened? My computer froze, and I had to restart it. I was just testing it, and the additional security application worked well. I used the security application to protect the data on my partition, so any attacks or changes to my data wouldn't affect it.

By the way, I don't recommend anyone do this. I was just testing my computer durability, and I was only testing it using the security application I mentioned.
