Is the BitcoinTalkShow Dead?

The Bitcointalk.org YouTube channel was a huge hit when it launched in 2021 with over 12k views on the first episode and 16k plus on the second episode. The show featured interesting past and live events on the forum including the famous Bitcointalk Community Awards. Who better to tell bitcointalk story than us. And with the increased misinformation, and scams in the crypto space, the BitcoinTalkShow could offer real discussion, historical context, and real discussion over influencers who just want to shill shitcoins.

Sadly the channel has been inactive since 2023 and has only 7 episodes. I get that the subscribers and views on the youtube channel doesn’t come close to matching half the amount of traffic the forum has. I wonder if that’s the reason why the project was abandoned. I’m curious to hear what you all think in the polls.

People simply have their own lives without the forum and without Bitcoin. In different periods, they have different priorities so it's likely that people behind the Youtube channel, The BitcointalkShow, just have had something more important to do in two latest years.

It is probably the consistency of topics/content it should release (main issue), second the availability of Mr. bearded (main issue), then the editing, and lastly sponsorships. Or just there's not enough schedules of the one who manage the channel and the bitcointalkshow as  a whole. Would love to hear @Cyrus from this too.

The forum already serves its purposes, what's there to be updated on those social media when we can all share them here.

Joining this forum, I noticed it serves multiple purposes. I don't have any information you're going to find here; it's only a matter of time.

I just checked the YouTube channel, and to be frankly speaking, it has got some cool contents about activities which took place on this forum, most especially the last video about the 2022 Bitcointalk award that host made a detailed explanation about. But it's sad to see the channel still struggling with low views and content ideas. And for me, I think instead of using this channel as just a show about Bitcointalk forum, if the organizers can also use this channel to teach about Bitcoin, it's likely to get more engagements from people who are willing to learn new things about the forum and Bitcoin. Because I'm pretty much sure most people don't know;
1. How to Run a Bitcoin Node (step by step guide)
2. How to upload a Bitcointalk signature and avatar on their profile
3. How to upload an image on Bitcointalk
4. How to create a table on Bitcointalk & e.t.c

And if a step by step tutorial can be made on basic things like this for newbies to watch and learn, the channel is likely to get more engagements as more newbies visit the forum and wants to know how to run these basic things.

The last video was posted after a hiatus of over a year. With my little knowledge of YouTube, it takes a while to be able to monetize an account, this means for a long period they would have to create content entirely by personal motivation, with the amount of work it takes to create a video and real life activities that requires attention, it come as no surprise that this is the situation.

Exactly, it could have been created by anyone. It's a community based project and not an official channel from the admins. nyone with video content skills could create such contents and the community will decide if it's any good.

The BitcointalkShow is new to me as I've never really heard of this, and from the small research I've Carried out, I am honestly not surprised that rhe channel got abandoned already after being active for a short while.
The BitcointalkShow is an individual project and not an official project from this forum even though it's managed by one of our top forum admin here.


Managing a project on youtube can be extremely time consuming for anyone who is already used to being active on this forum, I guess this is why the project was abadoned.
I checked the projects accounts on both X and reddit and those accounts are all inactive, I would say it's better we focus on building this forum than shifting attention elsewhere.

I just learned about its existence. To me, it was never alive. And tbh, i still don’t feel the need to check the channel’s content. Bitcointalk is more attractive without the YouTube/X etc social media presence. It gives me those oldschool warez/hack forum vibes. It is not really possible to explain the exact feeling but I am damn sure I don’t get it from any other crypto forum/platform. The closest one that gave the same feeling was an exchange, btc-e. Maybe people get similar vibes/adrenaline from 4chan/darkweb but these platforms were never attractive to me.

That youtube channel is probably not the official btt channel anyway so that means anybody can create a btt themed channel and post content there. It doesn’t sound anything interesting to me.

Bitcointalk had an official youtube channel? Oh my god, I didn't know that. Is that Cyrus in the video?
I liked it, the atmosphere in the video is good and you can feel that there is an effort put into creating a video. With some better lighting and a better camera or a better lens (I don't know if Camera or lens need upgrade in this video), it would look like a very professional video.

I'm a huge supporter of projects like this one but it can't be financially profitable because it's not what attracts people. One very good successful project, run by a website is GSMArena's Youtube channel but that can't work with Bitcointalk. Maybe it will be profitable if the channel focuses on traveling around the world, doing fun vlogs but focusing on Bitcoin. Trip in El Salvador and trying to spend a weekend here by only exclusively using Bitcoin, can be quite interesting.

But unfortunately the account has been inactive since 13 September 2023. If it is still active maybe we can ask or even ask for him to make a Youtube Video again...

The BitcoinTalkShwo was a good one but, running a social media channel such as that one is one that requires a lot of knowledge by its host and the passion to go with not just owning a channel but also, a strong passion for Bitcoin.

With most of its content based on the forum, the activeness of its host on the forum is of paramount importance and not being active in about 2 years could really crumble a channel.

I don’t think they ran out of content ideas. There was an open thread for the community to suggest ideas for future episodes and it was very much active. They barely even scratched the surface. You could make a movie from the events on the forum.

Again, I doubt “knowledge”  or “passion for bitcoin” was the problem. I’m not sure who the host was. They never identified disclosed their forum username but I know Cyrus was a part of the project.

To me I could have suggested most of the activities here or contest such as Bitcointalk community awards, cooking contest and the rest contest should be taken a brief view or summary and post them over the channel to keep it active and attracting viewers, again it should be that Open for the community to have access to it where some trusted and reliable members of the forum could be posting things such as content as you already said. There could be a little challenge like, short videos with a paper written of Bitcointalk help the poor, or assist a neighbor with just a meal per day/week or even at every ends of 6 months people should be taken brief videos on how they are doing those things, this would massively attract more audience and also boost the exposure of the community and Bitcoin at large. Although, as matter of fact we know that Bitcoin is about privacy and anonymity, but we could and editor who may either be blurring people's face or possibly do not attach their username to their videos but can either send them individually to the editor who could handle that section of the account.

For that to happen there would have to be another channel created. This channel was created by a specific user and they very likely had a specific purpose for it when you look at the style of content that was posted. It was meant to be enjoyed by the community but not moderated by it. If they would want to share the log in details with someone else who can be tasked with editing and posting some of this, they would, but the caster fix will be for the person to create another channel for that purpose.

Personally I noticed anything that tends to hold about this forum outside this forum really doesn't last it's usually either the person behind the motive later becomes inactive or the attention to that particular stuff just gradually degrades till everyone eventually forgets about it. It would be very nice if we had the channel running once again.

Personally I don't mind if I spent a couple free hours surfing something concerning this forum sadly the forum doesn't support anything related to video uploads directly.

The thread hasn't been active for a long time. I don't think they'd struggle with content. At least they could've done a yearly recap video at the end of every year, but there hasn't been a new video for 2 years now. I guess they don't have the time or the motivation anymore.

In the end, this kind of work takes a lot of effort and doesn't really pay much financially. Maybe if there were sponsors or if the forum funded it, videos could've continued, but to me this feels more like a loss of motivation from the team rather than a money issue.

I don't think it's dead; maybe it just needs a hand. What if the local communities collaborated on content? Those who can could be granted limited access to upload videos (as private*) for pre-approval*. In the long run, I believe local content (from any board, not just mine) could have an unexpected reach. Who knows?

For example With January 3rd right around the corner, It would have been a good time to create something for such a significant date.

I think voice-over content would work as a great alternative to the main video that comes out every... three years (just a bit of sarcasm, but all in good fun!).

Is the BitcoinTalkShow Dead?
There is more data from those years (local board/post), so it could be compared with how things are today.
That way, we could determine if it's dead in terms of views—but then again, as long as you get even a single view, it's not truly dead.
