Not only Gold and Silver, but also Platinum and Palladium. Copper may be a base metal, but that doesn't mean it can't go up in price all of a sudden. If demand surges, I don't see why not. Of course, the rate at which Copper rises in price will be limited because of its widespread availability. In other words, the world is oversaturated with Copper.
Within the distant future, I'd expect Copper to go towards $10 - $15 per pound. But the same prediction per ounce? That's going to be a far stretch. But hey, if people believe garbage is worth something (such as "meme" coins), anything's possible. We'll see what happens in the long run.
As I said, the prices of base metals may also rise due to the metal boom. But be careful, their growth is unsustainable because there is no real demand. Their supply is quite abundant, so there will be no shortage leading to demand exceeding supply, as is the case with gold. It is all just FOMO Have you checked the price of silver today? It is no different from shitcoin and pure speculation, having dropped 34% in just one day. The same thing will happen with other metals because it is speculation, not real demand.

I'll start with the latter—the rise in memory prices is primarily driven by mega-corporations' demand for data centers for AI. And the only ones who will suffer in this process are ordinary consumers, for whom new technology or upgrading existing technology will become very expensive. Meanwhile, mega-corporations will buy whatever generates profit and market share for them at almost any price.
And precious metals are currently “in vogue” — global instability, economic problems, and other factors are pushing people to shift the value of their assets from fiat money and other assets to metals.
Demand is coming from mega corps/data centers but that doesn't invalidate what I said because electronics, solar panels and similar products use lots of silver and some gold. Both of these reasons can co-exist. It is not like 1 or 0, if megacorps are driving the ram prices up, precious metal prices can't drive up the ram prices... This is not correct. However, I can agree with that we are not seeing the full effect of precious metal prices surges because it is so fresh. Gold has went up 60% in the last 6 months. Silver went up 200%. This is catastrophic. And they are not the only commodities that are going up. Copper, platinum, even steel like I mentioned. All of these commodities are creating a feedback loop which drives the prices up for almost everything. Datacenter demand is only one aspect of what's really happening. In the case of gold and silver, I would also add the risks of dollar depreciation, which always causes a wave of flight from the dollar to “safe-haven assets.” Gold is number one here. Silver is also often used as a “safe haven asset,” but in 2026, this also coincided with the forecast of growth in silver consumption in the absence of growth in its production. But as we are seeing now, the stabilization of the risks of an “inappropriate Fed chair” has stabilized the dollar and triggered a process of profit-taking and a flight from “safe-haven assets” back to the dollar.

If that's the case, how high do you think copper will go in the future? At least, one year from now. Right now, Copper is valued at $5.84 per pound. It can easily reach $10 per pound. Thoughts? Every assets is priceless, Silver has been known for his store of value so it's copper but it's not been mentioned due to the fact that people have picked so much interest in valuing other coins like gold and Bitcoin being on the rise. That notwithstanding I think copper would reach the extreme peak if basically there's more tendency of holders and investors in this particular assets.

I see a ten year market for both, commodities will be in demand partly in proportion to weak currency worldwide it seems. Gold is seen as the major counter to weak currency but all commodities have some reaction to this phenomena and it is the trend right now.
The caution that has to be taken with commodity markets is set backs of 40% occur far more often then is seen in stock or bonds, most people wont be familiar and a commodity boom across the board is fairly rare. The last big metals and commodity boom was start of the century and even that was interrupted harshly in '08, most remember 2011 but there was a whole theme besides just silver and gold.
Why should you care about all that from yesterday, copper became money in that brief period at century start. China military regime had to outlaw its rise in regular use for contract settlement as a proxy currency superior to paper cash. Copper is a monetary metal and thats just something true for Millennia.

Copper is just a common metal, not a precious metal like gold, silver, or platinum. Copper is a metal that was discovered and used by humankind before gold, but the problem is that it has an abundant supply, unlike gold which is very scarce. That is the main reason it is never been considered a potential asset or investment, not because bitcoin has overshadowed it It has been used primarily in industries for hundreds of years, and that is where it truly reaches its full potential and demonstrates its real value. Copper, zinc, aluminum, or iron...no one would pay attention to or invest in these metals if it were not for the gold rush

No, not all assets are priceless and worth investing in or holding long term. Unfortunately, copper is one of them. It is just a basic metal, abundant on Earth and primarily used in industry. It is not recognized as a store of value like silver or gold. The increase in copper prices is due to high demand driven by the development of technology related industries, not because people are speculating and holding for the long term. Although silver and copper are often referred to as metals, they are very different.

So chances for price growth is really possible, its just gold and silver always get the attention. But I believe that cooper will became a expensive material in upcoming years since demand with this material will increase. Although its investment narratives with those rare minerals is different from cooper, but this is still useful metal which can be used for wide variety of products. Those people think about holding it can provably sell it and earn more in future.

With Silver getting all of the attention recently, I'm wondering if Copper would be next? I know Silver is a precious metal, whereas Copper is not. But Copper is widely used for electronics, the same way as Silver. The utility aspect of Copper should make it valuable in the long run. Am I right? If that's the case, how high do you think copper will go in the future? At least, one year from now. Right now, Copper is valued at $5.84 per pound. It can easily reach $10 per pound. Thoughts? Honestly depending on the demand in the future, but reading about the new AI tools and electronics that need copper, investing in copper is not a bad shout at all.

Why not buy sand while you are at it? That's being used as well. But lets do some numbers: If copper is $5.84 per pound, and silver is roughly $82 per ounce, meaning it's roughly 82*16 = $1312 per pound. Copper is roughly 900 times or more common then Silver, so: $1312 / 900 = ~$1.5. So if anything it's overvalued compared to silver, just by terms of supply. There's no shortage of copper in anywhere, and you can even rip it off and reuse it indefinitely and easily.

High demand, but with a very large supply, makes it very difficult to increase prices. Unlike gold and silver, which have very high demand and limited supply, silver may have a larger supply, but compared to copper, copper is much more abundant. I think it's better to invest in a management company, as that can be more profitable than the copper mineral itself.

If we look at global statistics on proven reserves, annual production, and consumption, we get the following picture: - Global copper production in recent years has remained within the range of 22–25 million tons per year. This means that current profitable reserves could theoretically sustain production for approximately 40–45 years at current levels, excluding demand growth and rising production costs. - Global consumption of refined copper is currently around 25–28 million tons per year, which is comparable to production. - The global copper market is currently balancing on a fine line: there is a risk of a refined copper deficit in 2025–2026 (surplus or even deficit according to ICSG data).

As o48o mentioned below, copper is not scarce and can even be reused. This means that even if demand increases, as long as supply remains adequate, it will not become expensive. Its price will increase over time, but do not expect it to appreciate like gold, silver, or other financial investments. Because they are completely different. If you are looking for something that appreciates in value over time relative to fiat. Regardless of ROI and as long as its value increases, then sand, iron, zinc, or aluminum might be an option. Since fiat is depreciating over time, they will inevitably become more expensive in the future.

Yeah, I do not think copper is a good way to invest and we should not be really looking into this as something that would be a good investment, it just doesn't feel the same way and should not be a big deal at all. I think the best way to move forward in this case would be keep to gold or silver if you want to invest into assets that are in the precious metals category, rest are not really the same.
I would still say that bitcoin is better than all of them though, not an easy thing to say but definitely something to keep in mind. I know that it is not going to be easy and I know that it is going to take some time for bitcoin to recover from this drop, but if you give it a few years, it will have a better return than all others.

I still think it's good to have some investment in assets like silver and gold. The price of silver has retreated this month from over $100 it hit in January, and even so, it maintains an appreciation of just over 150% over the past year. I believe it's possible for it to appreciate even more; it's a good option to have in a portfolio.
Copper appreciated by more than 28% in the same period. In my opinion, it's an asset with high demand for various purposes, and it should appreciate further. Furthermore, it remains a relatively inexpensive asset compared to the other two I mentioned.

in a few weeks silver is going to explode.
long reason very short. paper .vs. reality.
they sold 'silver' for years on paper. you own XXX silver and always promised, oh its REAL you can have it on demand!! just say when and we'll send you your physical silver.
one tiny problem with that. being bankers, they lied thru their Fn teeth about it.
There is roughly 100x more silver owned on paper, than there is actual you can hold it in your hand silver. In umm 19 more days i think it is, a lot of those contracts come due, and if the people say we want our actual silver, we don't trust the paper too much anymore because of world events etc, then all these banks and brokers are going to be left with their thumbs up each other's butts because they do not have the silver, and it's all going to explode in their faces.
By, 'We don't have the silver" I am not talking, we ran out it's on order, the truck is on the way it'll be here next week, but rather, it does not exist yet period. There is going to be a mad scramble to find physical silver as they panic trying to save their asses and anyone who actually has real silver at this point that they can sell to them to 'save their rep' and make good their books, will be able to ask about anything they want for it.
They'll play their usual games like they did when they almost got Raped on that Gamestop thing and Robinhood etc, they'll illegally shut down the trading, saying crap like, oh thats to let the market cool down, it's too hot. (but you can guarantee if that market was raping YOU instead of them, they'd let that mf'er run overtime if they could) but it won't work this time. The lie and swindle is just too big to hide this round and they'll end up eating it.
The only downside is if you do have silver to sell, they'll try to pretend they are doing you a favor by taking it, and trying to charge you extra fees for it. look at the bs they are doing now. It used to be, you'd make a deal, you'd close on a price and that locks it in for 24 hours, ie you have that long to get it on it's way there, but now they are claiming it's too volatile, even though they already have a buyer and are saying, when we process it we'll find a price, which means they will sit on it a week and you can guarantee whatever day it was the lowest, is the day your lot will magically settle. Do NOT let them fk you like that, deal only with reputable refiners. Better yet do local sales. i know a few coin dealers who do consignment sales, you bring in a 1 oz bar say, they put it up for sale at a minimum price, when someone walks in and buys it, they take their 5 rupee/oz or whatever price off it and you got your money. This way they are not on the hook for huge money, and you are guaranteed it won't sell for under a price you set. it's working very well for them too.
be smart but be very careful, it's going to get wild.

Nothing wrong with copper bar the fact its bulky for its worth, not the kind of thing people normally would keep in their house. Scrap dealers with a yard full of it might profit in a boom as they have the space and naturally can accumulate via scrap at easy prices.
People have used copper as a monetary metal, its not impossible just highly improbable in the modern era. I thought about buying up a big loop of it cheap when price had fallen alot, my reasoning was mostly that I can use it meanwhile as copper is great for coolant loops.
Nothing wrong with copper at all, I think the market is bullish but it is bulky. If you are a plumber then stock up, you can use it anyhow and I think I said the construction companies can and have actually over bought copper as a monetary proxy it worked well for them with great building demand.
Whats interesting here perhaps is the Japan expansion domestically, for years they invested overseas. Its not a poor country just too much central debt, this likely produces yet another weak FIAT currency like we didnt have enough existing in decline. Likely also it probably helps further dollar decline, Japan owns 1tn of treasury debt I think.
I own copper via miners, electric infrastructure is decades behind where it should be in a dozen different highly populated countries. If you build houses its always going to start copper demand too.

Why should you care about all that from yesterday, copper became money in that brief period at century start. China military regime had to outlaw its rise in regular use for contract settlement as a proxy currency superior to paper cash. Copper is a monetary metal and thats just something true for Millennia.
I find it odd that Copper is no longer considered "money" these days. Perhaps, it has to do with the fact that the metal is widely available? With eroding trust in Fiat currencies, we might be heading back to ancient times where copper was used as money (in the form of coins). That's a BIG maybe, because governments are already planning to rollout CBDCs to stay ahead in the game. Copper is just a common metal, not a precious metal like gold, silver, or platinum. Copper is a metal that was discovered and used by humankind before gold, but the problem is that it has an abundant supply, unlike gold which is very scarce. That is the main reason it is never been considered a potential asset or investment, not because bitcoin has overshadowed it
It has been used primarily in industries for hundreds of years, and that is where it truly reaches its full potential and demonstrates its real value. Copper, zinc, aluminum, or iron...no one would pay attention to or invest in these metals if it were not for the gold rush
True. But who's to say demand for Copper won't increase with the AI boom? As well as Silver, Copper is used for electronics. AI needs Copper to survive, as much as it needs Silver. Per pound, Copper's market price could reach new heights. We'll see what happens in the long run.

I still think it's good to have some investment in assets like silver and gold. The price of silver has retreated this month from over $100 it hit in January, and even so, it maintains an appreciation of just over 150% over the past year. I believe it's possible for it to appreciate even more; it's a good option to have in a portfolio.
What makes you believe that the price of silver will continue to rise? Silver is also a precious metal, but note that it is not gold and cannot be compared to gold. The demand for silver comes primarily from industrial sectors, rather than as a financial investment asset like gold. Copper appreciated by more than 28% in the same period. In my opinion, it's an asset with high demand for various purposes, and it should appreciate further. Furthermore, it remains a relatively inexpensive asset compared to the other two I mentioned.
The price of copper is lower than gold and silver, but that does not mean it is still cheap. They have different roles, as well as different sources of supply and demand. Comparing copper to gold and silver and claiming it is cheaper is like comparing bitcoin to shitcoin and saying shitcoin is cheaper.
