With Silver getting all of the attention recently, I'm wondering if Copper would be next? I know Silver is a precious metal, whereas Copper is not. But Copper is widely used for electronics, the same way as Silver. The utility aspect of Copper should make it valuable in the long run. Am I right?

If that's the case, how high do you think copper will go in the future? At least, one year from now. Right now, Copper is valued at $5.84 per pound. It can easily reach $10 per pound.
Thoughts? Huh
Since copper is used in various applications including electronics, I think it can definitely reach the prediction you made in the future because it is possible to reach $10, $10 is not too much. Also, we can see that copper has been increasing gradually over the years, so copper will definitely reach a good position. However, if people buy and invest in it, I think the price of copper will be good because people are not buying and investing in copper like gold, so even if its price increases, you have to wait a long 10 to 15 years.

Adjusting for inflation, I think $10 per ounce of Copper is reasonable. I mean, everything is going up in price like crazy these days. All due to rising geopolitical tensions, the FED uncertainty, and the AI hype. If Silver went up quickly within just a few months, the same thing can happen with Copper. We just need to wait until the hype ends on Silver for Copper to turn bullish.

Compared to other metals, Copper is extremely-undervalued. Especially when it's heavily-used for electronics. With the future bringing EVs, Quantum Computers, and AI, metals like Copper and Silver should rise all the way to the moon. I've checked APMEX recently, and all Copper coins and bars were sold out. Impressive, isn't it? This is a sign that demand for Copper is rising. I'd pay close attention to the market just in case.

per ounce,  never.
per pound, i could possibly see that.

too much of it available to go per ounce.
remember brass is an alloy of copper
so is cuni and many other alloys which are all over the place.  if copper started hitting those prices it'd suddenly start 'appearing' all over the place as folks look for the quick cash

For starters, Bismuth is much rarer than Silver. Yet, its value hasn't risen than much compared to the latter. If people believe something is valuable (even if it's a worthless piece of junk), it will go to the moon no matter what. Who's to say Copper won't get all of the attention from investors in the long term?

Per pound, $10 is realistic. But we can't discard the possibility of Copper going to such levels per ounce in the future. Even Bitcoin went from being worth pennies, to thousands of dollars (USD). I think the future is bright for metals. Not only Gold and Silver, but also Copper, Platinum, and Palladium. Even Rhodium. We'll see what happens in the long term.

The picture with silver is already quite clear—demand from the technology market is driving prices up.
Copper is one of the most important metals for electrical engineering and energy. Everything related to this CONSUMES AND WILL CONTINUE TO CONSUME copper! Given the growth of all kinds of energy generation and delivery systems, demand for copper will continue to grow.
Construction—communications at all facilities, if done properly, of course—is copper, from low-voltage to power systems.
Transportation and mechanical engineering—car engines, trains, subways, aviation—all consist of copper harnesses Smiley
IT and electronics - they all consume copper, albeit in small amounts, but there are a huge number of devices!
In conclusion, there will be growth. The question is how to invest? Investing in gold or silver is difficult due to their low “price density.” That leaves assets backed by real copper. By the way, does anyone know of any such assets?

Current political climate is favoring precious metals too. Donald recently kidnapped the president of Venezuela and threatening Greenland with invasion. What was gold/silver going to do? Sit down and watch? Yes AI bubble is also fueling the precious metals price surge but it is not the only reason.

I heard platinum also made a new ATH recently. It is like everything is going up and it would be madness to think that these precious metal price surges won't cause inflation and guess what, they already do.

Like you said, electronics already showing the signs. Have you checked ram, ssd, gpu prices? They went nuts lately. Especially ram & ssd prices are insane.

If this trend continues, and it looks like it will, steel products will get affected by it too.

US Steel Coil (HRCc1) is up 36.9% since last year but it is nowhere near its ATH. It seems to me steel is the only metal that's still cheap.

There are 244 metric tons of gold in the world, 1.74 million metric tones of silver, 700 million metric tones of copper. You make a decision and tell me if this makes any sense to you or not, because it is clear that while gold is rare, silver isn't "common" neither, it's quite rare too, not as much as gold but there is a level, and then copper is literally one of the most common ones out there, has nearly 350+ times as silver.

So believe me, it is not the same thing and if it ever goes up, that would be because of manipulation and speculation and maybe even because of hype, not a real price increase.

Well as a chart analysis, I can clearly spot that copper is also in an up trend like that of silver,

Which will clearly tell you that the price will continue to increase is a significant gap of time

And from what I have observed it has shown that it has no interest to Chang Trend to the down side, there for the price will only appreciate with time.

Yeah, except there are 244 000 metric tons of gold, no 244!
We have roughly 7 times more silver, while silver is 50 times cheaper, which one is undervalued based on your previous reasoning?

Like you said, electronics already showing the signs. Have you checked ram, ssd, gpu prices? They went nuts lately. Especially ram & ssd prices are insane.

Neither Ram nor SSD has anything to do with the price of silver/gold/copper, the amount of those in the price is less than 1-3%, the problem is the manufacturing capacity, not the resources for production.

Transportation and mechanical engineering—car engines, trains, subways, aviation—all consist of copper harnesses Smiley

Yeah, 1% compared to aluminium, which hasn't even reached 2022 prices yet despite 25% inflation.
A 747 has 1.5 tonnes of copper and 150 tonnes of aluminium in it!

You metalbugs need to take a chill pill!

That is true. But knowing that anything can suddenly go up in value these days for no reason, anything's possible. Copper's rise could be nothing more than a result of hype. Still, I wonder why a metal which is rarer than Silver is still "dirt-cheap"? I'm talking about Bismuth. Perhaps, investors haven't realized the metal's inherent scarcity. Who knows? Once Gold, Silver, and Copper rise in price, Bismuth could be next.

We've living in uncertain times, thanks to rising geopolitical tensions. One day we have precious metals going to the moon, while the other day we have crypto taking the spotlight. I'm sure Copper will gain traction as it's widely used in electronics. Demand for AI will increase its price in no time. Just you wait and see.

Silver have really surprised me getting to an all time high record in recent days, which have been a massive wave, I think the sudden increase in demand of silver is probably because of the green energy market which is highly facilitated by China who are the main suppliers windmill, the high demand of windmills are one of the major reasons why the silver market is booming, I think copper have also been on high demands in recent times, but the difference is that Silver is an expensive metal and most people can’t afford it for electronic components, but copper is more cheaper and affordable and has a high demand, I still think copper is making a good wave in the metal market, there is very possibility that copper could be worth $10 per pounds, nobody expected Silver to be booming all of sudden.

Actually this was expected many years ago when the first silver squeeze happened (which didn’t last very long) The math has been out in the open for years. There simply isn’t enough silver for everyone.

And unlike gold, the demand for industrial silver is massive.

Limited supply, big demand, artificially suppressed prices.

It was the perfect trade.

And you know what, I am in. So I am not all theory, should’ve done it in Hindsight bullcrap.

printing mad bucks at the moment.

If that's the case, how high do you think copper will go in the future? At least, one year from now. Right now, Copper is valued at $5.84 per pound. It can easily reach $10 per pound.
Economically, silver and copper have similar functions for both, in general they are used as certain conductors and are also used as jewelry materials, However, between silver and copper, we have to admit that of course silver is superior, especially in the electronics, medical and so on industries compared to copper which is often used for electrical cables.

In my view, copper will not have high economic value, copper is only used in certain objects, silver does have economic value because of its advantages as the main material for jewelry, including coins and precious metals. What's more, currently in many countries a lot of silver is made into solar panels, of course the higher the selling price, such as uranium, the basic material for nuclear weapons and so on.

I'll start with the latter—the rise in memory prices is primarily driven by mega-corporations' demand for data centers for AI. And the only ones who will suffer in this process are ordinary consumers, for whom new technology or upgrading existing technology will become very expensive.
Meanwhile, mega-corporations will buy whatever generates profit and market share for them at almost any price.

And precious metals are currently “in vogue” — global instability, economic problems, and other factors are pushing people to shift the value of their assets from fiat money and other assets to metals.

Demand is coming from mega corps/data centers but that doesn't invalidate what I said because electronics, solar panels and similar products use lots of silver and some gold. Both of these reasons can co-exist. It is not like 1 or 0, if megacorps are driving the ram prices up, precious metal prices can't drive up the ram prices... This is not correct.

However, I can agree with that we are not seeing the full effect of precious metal prices surges because it is so fresh. Gold has went up 60% in the last 6 months. Silver went up 200%.

This is catastrophic.

And they are not the only commodities that are going up. Copper, platinum, even steel like I mentioned. All of these commodities are creating a feedback loop which drives the prices up for almost everything.

Datacenter demand is only one aspect of what's really happening.

I am guessing another interpretation of this move, also thinking about OIL, which recently regained some value, is that there will be a declaration of war during the weekend.
Trump also wants oil prices to be higher, so he can convince oil companies to invest in Venezuela's oil infrastructure, something that is extremely difficult when prices are low.

Silver has far more uses than Copper, imo. I guess that's why it's been getting more attention lately (without mentioning the obvious fact that Silver is much rarer than Copper). Still, that doesn't mean Copper can't go up a bit in value during the short-term. With this "metals frenzy", Copper can easily go to more than $10 per pound. Like Silver, AI also needs Copper. So the AI hype might propel Copper to new heights. Who knows? We're living in uncertain times these days.

I just hope "essential metals" such as Aluminum, Steel, and Zinc, don't go up in price like crazy. That would do more harm than good to the economy. But that's another subject. Exciting times ahead for long-term holders of Silver.

Among metals, only gold and silver are recognized as precious metals, while copper is considered only a base metal. That alone is enough to show the difference between silver and copper. Therefore, copper may grow due to the metal boom, but I think it would be unrealistic to expect it to outperform the other two precious metal

In my opinion, the growth of gold and silver stems from genuine demand because both are safe haven assets and essential component in booming industries such as AI and green energy. However, for base metal, the upward momentum is mainly driven by FOMO

So, we can speculate but we must be careful.

I can understand gold, it's a common thing, I can sort of understand Silver too, not that I am in love with it , but I can see why others can be, but never copper, copper isn't what you think it is.

Copper is a useless and worthless material and it will not go up in value because we can create more of it quite easily and even recycle it as well. Right now, there are so many waste copper out there in the garbage and you can literally buy tons of it in a small amount, not kilos, TONS, so it's clear that it's too cheap to matter.

Not only Gold and Silver, but also Platinum and Palladium. Copper may be a base metal, but that doesn't mean it can't go up in price all of a sudden. If demand surges, I don't see why not. Of course, the rate at which Copper rises in price will be limited because of its widespread availability. In other words, the world is oversaturated with Copper.

Within the distant future, I'd expect Copper to go towards $10 - $15 per pound. But the same prediction per ounce? That's going to be a far stretch. But hey, if people believe garbage is worth something (such as "meme" coins), anything's possible. We'll see what happens in the long run.
