thanks for sharing, this is the main reason for not talking AT ALL about your coins with friends and relative.
IN ANY CASE (literally) they will not understand how has been hard to collect your funds, and how these are importants...
Of course 7 years old is too early...probably the man has "not many bitcoin" but it's always better to avoid any comment on the matter Roll Eyes

Whether the child has a bad or good character, if you teach a child about bitcoin below the ages of 12 years old, it won't be avoided that a child will tell-all to his friends or any relatives that he can talk to.

He isn't aware of the danger that comes with it, so he is clueless that he is putting his father or the bitcoin itself into real danger, that's why I don't encourage teaching a child when it was in its grade school. I'LL just wait when he'll be ready to manage a secret and learn bitcoin seriously.

What do you think is the best way to correct this of the kid is yours?
The best way to correct him is by educating him never to disclose he’s father’s holdings in public. But I think 7 years is too tender to expose stuffs like bitcoin investment, children in those age range are always over excited to give their thoughts on what they’ve learned, that’s why whenever they return from school they always find pleasure in reciting all what were taught in the classroom. So as a parent don’t educate your children about bitcoin at a tender age because you might end up being in trouble,at least educate them when they’re matured enough to keep things to themselves. Please inform he’s father so that he’ll warn the young boy never to say such in public.

Few people believe that teaching Bitcoin to their children at early stage isn't bad, but what the world has turned into today makes me think how dangerous it can be.

I just knew that my neighbour is a Bitcoin investor through his 7 years old son, I was outside with a friend receiving fresh breeze under the mango tree in our compound and the boy came along to play with us, while we were having a discussion about Binance exchange he uttered Bitcoin and said " my daddy has many Bitcoin".

I cautioned him instantly, but I can't stop thinking about the dangers that this kid can bring to his father, different "what if" started coming to my mind, this boy can say the same thing in his school, or to bad people without him knowing.

Somehow I believe the father must have exposed his crypto wallet balance to his son or maybe after the father lectured the son about Bitcoin few times the son started to think that his father has Bitcoin? Either ways this is not good, and the reason why I haven't try talking to his father is because of how unfriendly he is even though we are neighbours.

What do you think is the best way to correct this of the kid is yours?
There's absolutely nothing wrong with a father exploring his son about cryptocurrency and probably digging a foundation for his child when it comes to the basic things in life. But showing a kid who's very young and have absolutely no idea about who to tell and who not to tell is a big problem to deal with. I would advised you keep aside any difference you have with the kid's father and tell him what's happening because this might be a matter of life and death when the turn comes.

Everyone want to live the better life and none of us pray for poverty. We win and want to see our children do much better than we did but in the process, know the amount of vital information we transfer because most of them can later bounce back and hurt us. There are some losses that are irrecoverable.

Well for me, it is not really important for me to expose my Bitcoin information to my son at an early age, of course it is good to educate your children about Bitcoin investment, so that they will be familiar with it, but not something we do at a tender age because certainly they will expose your secret. Atleast to educate your children or child he/she is soposed to be of age, like 15years and above when they have begin to have a better understanding of keeping a little secret than exposing it with a 7 years old boy.

this is the sensible middle ground education is key, but timing is everything, a teenager can grasp the concept of financial privacy and the seriousness of it a 7 year old just can't wait until they can understand the responsibility that comes with the knowledge

I wouldn’t contact the dad if we are not close. Besides have you considered that the kid could have made that up. Kids lie a lot especially to impress grownups and other kids. He probably heard you talking about bitcoin and blurted out “my dad has many bitcoin”. In his head, that could mean my dad has many toys. The dad may not even own bitcoins but the kid just said that because…..who knows why a 7 year old would say anything.

That's another problem because even if the child is making up a story, his father could be the victim of a crime committed by irresponsible people, especially if the neighborhood is prone to crime. It's better to contact his parents directly to confirm the authenticity, as this could be helpful. Besides, the OP also said he lives in the same village as the child, so they should know each other. Seven-year-olds rarely lie, and they will unconsciously say what they hear.

Sometimes small things like this can help others, and I don't think there's any harm in directly contacting or meeting with the father. This is a lesson for other parents and they should not discuss the amount of bitcoin they own with their children even if they plan to teach their children about bitcoin because it can be quite problematic.

If I'm to teach my child about bitcoin I will first of all know the child's character before I can tell him or her anything related to Bitcoin because by not doing these. the child can share the same informations the father has given to him with someone else, maybe while telling his or her friends, someone else might hear and think bad toward the parents, either to harm the parents and take the bitcoin or to scam the parent's. So what I'm just trying to say here is that parents should endeavor to know the character of their children before they tell them any important information.

Children will not act like adults. The age of the child should be the paramount consideration before information about Bitcoin can be transferred. Regardless of how mature a child might act, they might still give out sensitive information carelessly. Financial information should not be unveiled to children until they get to the age when they can understand the consequences of their actions. If they don't understand the basics of privacy and security, they are still too immature to know that their parents own Bitcoin.

To a 7 years old, they still do not know the dangers, but they already know the secrets. Educating children about Bitcoin is not necessarily harmful, however, educating without privacy and security limits is harmful. In such a case, maybe it would be more appropriate to educate children on what privacy is, using words that are more accessible to them. In this manner, they will know instantly about privacy when they address other people and know how to communicate within limits. Given it was my child, I would definitely teach them, but not as money or investment, but as technology. And I would make sure that the child was not aware of any details, including nominal values, or anything of the sort.

Children in this age don't understand the dangers in their full extent, and they probably won't.

Better to just not spoil a small fella with info you don't want to be known.

It is risky when child tells others about his parents using Bitcoin since young children have no idea that sharing such information can bring thieves or kidnappers. Children tend to repeat what they hear as way of being social and therefore parent should explain to them that money is family secret and so no one should be put in danger.
In case it is your child, you must stop showing them your true account balance and instead tell them that it is like locking door to house to keep home safe. Being neighbor, you could give father quick and friendly warning on comments of his son by focusing on safety of family as instead of their money. Most effective method of remaining safe from real life threats is to keep your crypto savings secret.

There is nothing bad teaching your children about Bitcoin. I am one of those people who believe that, the best time for anyone to learn anything is when they are still growing up so childrens should be exposed to crypto currency early. This will help them to become more grounded when it comes to crypto currency as early exposure is key and important this will form a culture in them as they grow older.

No body should think that introducing their children to crypto currency early is bad, I don't think so what you have to do is to tell them the risk factors associated with crypto especially when they expose themselves. This will help them to become more conscious of themselves when ever they are talking to people about crypto currency.

There should be a promise that Bitcoin should not be taught until adulthood because we come across many cases where children who learn about Bitcoin from their parents share it with their neighbors and classmates. Not long ago I saw a news story where a 21 year old boy from Ukraine discussed his father's crypto or Bitcoin assets with his classmate without any hesitation, after which he was killed for the assets and the wallet password was stolen. So OP, one of the benefits of teaching Bitcoin to that curious seven-year-old you mentioned here is that he will be able to learn more about this currency very easily and will also be able to learn about the investment process but the way he is saying that his father has more Bitcoin is a negative aspect for them because he may face danger for this digital gold.

The fault really lies with the father, for exposing that kind of information in front of a 7 year old child. At that age, children tend to be very imprudent. The father should have been discreet, especially in today’s world, where information moves quickly and not everyone has good intentions; discretion is part of security.
The best way to correct it would be to talk to the child in language they can understand about the importance of privacy, teaching them what things should not be shared outside the home and why.

I agreed with you but it depends on how parents train up their children, if parents train up their children in the way they should grow, even though they grown into adults, they will not depart from it but grow to live with that principles which their parents has shown them.
So, if you trust your children so much and you feel they are ready to know what you are doing, that is involving them in your works, its a good idea.
But, if you feel they are not ready, you do what you know its the right thing to do, and its important to remember that life is unpredictable, as many things are really happening in this world.

That’s correct, even if the father wants the child to know about bitcoin at very young age, it is better to keep the child informed by giving him stories about how bitcoin revolutionize the financial system, the benefits of bitcoin and other important factors about bitcoin, and not by giving him knowledge about his father holding or investment. It is very good to grow your child with interest in bitcoin but letting him know your holding, is very bad, if the child is very young.

If you child is below 10 and you want him to have a bit knowledge about bitcoin, focus on educating him about it using memes and games, children remember what they learn during playing more than they learn during classes so they are lots of ways to teach him about bitcoin without actually even giving him clue that you have invested in or own some bitcoins, With age the child will uncover some knowledge himself.

I think the first approach to all of this is to study your child first before anything. If you are the type of parent who pays attention to details, you will know about your children who have a loud mouth. This is not just about age, but some children can be very lousy. If your child is that type, then you will limit the type of sensitive information you allow them to gain access to.
I feel this isn't about a child with a loud mouth though it's just about how mature is the child to understand the importance and risk of what he's being told of. Sometimes parents just expose to children what they're too young to be of knowledge about, we should understand that there are certain details that kids shouldn't have knowledge of until they have reached or come to a certain stage to know the importance of what they're told as not to loud it in public or to strangers.

I fully agree to teaching Bitcoin and other investment-related topics, but only on the condition that my child is over 15 years old, mature enough to understand the importance of responsibility. This is also to prevent an incident like your friend's. Because if not my children, who will inherit my Bitcoin?
