Many people assume office of leadership without proper training and clear understanding of their responsibility. This is the reason for for failures in leadership and government. Leadership is not all about passion, comfort, acquisition of power, charisma, etc.  It's the understanding and management of institutions, accountability, selflessness and sacrifice.  Ignorance of institutions and responsibilities in leadership will certainly lead to crash.

This isn't the main problem of our leaders in Nigeria. They mostly know their responsibilities, didn't they see how things are done when they travel outside the country. Just that they have decided to neglect it because of their corrupt nature and the act of selfishness. Also, our pattern of election has also added more problem to their corrupt nature. How will you expect someone that has spent huge money before attaining a presidential sit to do things right. Afterall, all this people are not really going there for the masses rather than their purse. So if they were later elected, they will always think of making their money back first before anything. I think spending much money on political post form should first be reduced and let's see if things can change for good alittle.

Although not everyone can be a leader. Leadership is a skill on it own. This is because alot of responsibilities is been attach to it. A wrong decision made can make followers go astray.

To be a leader requires some hard and soft skill. Most of which is humility and the will to learn because even as a leader, you don't know it all. When it comes to government, believe me when I say these official are aware an knowledgeable about the roles they are supposed to play.in their various offices. I know there are times where some appointments don'take sense because the person doesn't have what it takes to assume that role on paper.
A nother thing is that being a leader is typically a learning on the job kind in role. No matter the training and how prepared you may actually feel you are, you'll still have your fumble moments as leader

Yes you  might be right that leadership without knowing what do do will definitely not result to anything tangible but then in a country like ours most of the leaders do well know what to do. just that Ultimately, Nigerian leadership does not work as desired because it is trapped in a cycle of greed, repression, and short-sighted policies that prioritize elite survival over national progress, leading to repeated failures in addressing core issues like poverty and insecurity.
Without genuine commitment to transparency, institutional strengthening, and inclusive governance, these problems persist, mortgaging the future through unchecked borrowing and unfulfilled promises.

Many times people do not intentionally come to incompetent leadership, the system does not prepare them. We have created an environment where loyalty and identity are given more importance than skills. As a result those who do not really get the opportunity to learn are suddenly given great responsibility, I think the problem is not just the individual, but the entire structure. If there were mandatory learning, experience and assessment before going to leadership, there would not be so many failures, Leadership is not about being strong alone but about sharing responsibility with the right people. Otherwise even good intentions will eventually harm.
