Recently israel recognized somaliland( while they destroyed entire generations of families in gaza) . What so you think about this? Somaliland is somehow close to yemen( a country that suporter palestine ) , which makes me think they will use the financial anility has to corrupt ( if not done already) the somaliland government, and do their dirty job( steal, kill, etc)
Whats your opinion?

Somaliland is strategic to some important goals of Israel. It's proximity to the Gulf of Eden which is a major maritime route which links the Red Sea to the Indian Ocean. Since the war in Gaza, the Yemeni Houthi forces have been engaging in coordinated attacks on commercial vessels to put pressure on Israel to end the genocide in Gaza. My guess is that Somaliland would be used as a military base for Israeli attacks on Yemen. This recognition is not born out of love for the people of Somaliland but to achieve the expansionist agenda of some persons.

The country most deserving of recognition is Liberland as it was specifically created from abandoned land claims. No allegedly "legit" country has yet to recognize the most legitimate claim in existence. So, recognition by the U.N. isn't going to happen unless the state employs many more restraints on residents that match or exceed that of their two neighbor states.

Wikipedia falsely claims the country has right-wing politics, which of course their reputation has been ruined for over a decade, but that doesn't stop people from visiting the rumoring rag website.

UN recognition is about getting into the fold of the power brokers, it has never been, nor will ever likely be, have anything to do with legitimacy of a country.

My theory is that Israel will use Somaliland to dump Gazans once they fully take over the Gaza Strip, because its regional allies like Egypt and Jordan have said they will NOT take in Gazans and Israel wants to ethnically cleanse the entire strip to make sure that Hamas never rises up again.

Recognising Somaliland would open up opportunities for the Israeli government to discuss permanently placing Gazans there, where Israel could offer them protection from Somalia (who are hostile to Somaliland) and even weapons, like it's doing for Azerbaijan, in exchange for allowing resettlements of Gazans in their territory.

Ofcourse, it's somewhat connected to Gaza issue, and due to hostile countries like Yemen and her short proximity with Somaliland and Israel. And also indirectly about Ethiopia access to red Sea. Ethiopia is probably the only country in the horn of Africa that usually side with Israel, and she desperately needs a direct or better access to the the Sea, but the forces against her, such Egypt, and certain other Arab(muslim) countries are constantly and strongly working against it.
Ethiopia eventually "got lucky" and was able to make a deal with Somaliland for longterm lease of her port/seashore for red Sea accesss in exchange for recognizing her as independent country, but Egypt,, Somalia etc worked against it. Somaliland remains persistent, and even visited Ethiopia to signal her interest in the continuation of the deal despite Ethiopia probably caving in to pressure from Somalia, Turkey, Egypt etc. Somalia had asked Ethiopia to get the sea access through its government rather than Somalilands' who she said remains part of Somalia.
So it's very likely that Israel is doing this to help Ethiopia and for her own interest. I believe Somaliland who is more stable than Somalia, deserves to be a country but under some kind of protection and guidance from a much better country like Ethiopia.

I was wondering why this was popping up in the news now and the gaza connection explains a lot, if israel can get a friendly port or at least a friendly neighbor near the bab el mandeb strait it changes their whole security situation, but man ethiopia is really stuck between a rock and a hard place with egypt watching their every move, do you really think somaliland can survive as an independent state if the rest of the arab world is against them, it feels like they are betting everything on this one deal with ethiopia
