Or it's not a mistake perhaps, and I'm missing something?
If so, please expand or explain why the header (block header?) and merkle root is linked to shortened bitcoin address format.

If you'd really want to make such a thing work, you'd need to use something like domain names (like in ENS) instead of bank account numbers. I do think you will have a hard time finding people who want "domain-style" bitcoin addresses though, because the normal address format is quite sufficient and is resistant to phishing.
