Omo this stuff don happen to, after investing little by little for some years I had the intention to sale atleast a few to reward myself for my effort because it grew to some substantial amount, the problem be say e kon hit ATH last year, I de see my money de appreciate for my eyes but still I say make I wait small, omo till now I still de wait. So if you want to spoil yourself, I think it's better you make your mind or you just invest with the mindset that that money is untouchable.
How can your own money be untouchable? If somebody keeps their money untouchable and something happens and they kpai, baba the people who don't know how you have deprived yourself from enjoying some of it will likely waste all of it, I'm not against not touching your Bitcoin but you are supposed to have a timeframe for holding and taking profit. If you plan to do DCA for 8 years before you can take profit and you are buying and holding till that time I think that you deserve to take profit especially if your total Bitcoin is more than your total investment funds.

I also think is better to take some part of our Bitcoin even if it has not gotten to the designated time, lets say the target was 8 years but luckily before the 8 years the profit appreciated so much within a short period, in cases like this it is advisable to take some part of our Bitcoin and take care of things that requires urgent attention or if none just treat yourself. The fact that we set a particular time frame or period to keep our investment in hold does not mean that if the profit quadruple we should not take some from it,  because we never can tell, after that it might dip and take very long to increase again like the current situation now. So we should not invest our money and labeling it as untouchable.

No be everything them dey talk, but the reality be say any of your money wey you chop put for belle no be waste, no matter how people dey make am look like, because na when you don survive today, we fit talk of tomorrow, so if you never dey alright financially, holding no dey easy as we dey make am look like here.

Selling some part of your Bitcoin to use guide means say you no too strong financially, that's why you take that decision, or na because of one pressing emergency needs or the other, but the truth be saying all na part of life, so as long as you go fit still buy and accumulate and am back, no be bad idea to sell use do one important thing or the other because with life, their is still hope or reinvesting.

Every holder would eventually sell someday cause it's not possible to hold forever except someone is trying to imitate Satoshi that's never sold at lose. If an investor meets his or her target, sure the person can take some portions of it afterall everyone is holding for a reason and if the target for that reason is met then the investor can withdrawal some of it.

What am against is selling Bitcoin at lose or selling Bitcoin when the target is not met. The friend of the OP might have missed selling when the price was on a rise but he's wise enough not to sell when it started dropping, it might had hinder the plans but so far he's still holding, the probability of getting better profits is high.

Generally I no go say the money is untouchable, because everybody get target and goal. So when you set your target of how long you wan leave your money and watin u wan use am do by that time, when you don hold till that time reach and u don reach your target, you Dey free to use your money do watin u wan do. If u decide say u still wan continue to hold, it depends on you and u fit still commot your profit do watin you been don actually Dey hold the money for and continue Dey invest with the remaining.

What anyone wants to do with their bitcoin is in the hands of whoever is holding it, and at some point, I think when you make a profit, I don't think there is anything wrong with spending your profit and then keeping the capital because that is the most important thing to do.
It's anybody's business to do whatever they want with their Bitcoin, however shedding off profits reduces the quantity of your stash and if you do it repeatedly, you'll depreciate your portfolio so much that you'll be ending up with a fewer coins and such work against your accumulation journey. Bitcoin profitability is best on the long-term and the more the quantities you've accumulated, the bigger profit you stand a chance to enjoy in the future. If you've held for a good time, hopefully 4 or more years and you want to buy something with some part of your stash, then it's best you sell when the prices are high, get the stuff and keep holding the remaining quantities.

I know that Bitcoin is good to hold for many years so that it's value will increase very well and you will make a lot of profit. What if you have long term plan on what to do with your Bitcoin like in the next 8 years and it happens that it fall into bear run at that time meaning that price has dip. What will you do, will you go ahead and sell or hold it till the next bull run?

Why I brought this topic up is because I have a friend that has been into Bitcoin investment for many years before I even knew about Bitcoin, clearly he has made a lot of profit from it. In the middle of this year he told me that he was going to buy a car in this December, from his Bitcoin profit. We were very happy about the ATH a few months back and he said that he couldn't wait for December, to buy the car. To my surprise he hasn't bought the car till now, his reason was that price is bellow $100,000. He has postponed the car matter indefinitely till there is a new ATH.

I told my friend that he is greedy that afterall he has made a lot of profit from Bitcoin that he should have bought the car despite the dip. I think that if we have made profit and our long term goal of holding Bitcoin matures we should spend the Bitcoin because it is our money. No need to consider whether it falls into bull run or bear run because we are in already in profit over the years.

In situations like this, it is not really greed, but the forecast that the amount that should have been used will increase, making him to sell his Bitcoin holdings at loss, and every long term holder finds making this kind of decision very unbearable. Over this bearish market, if he has been acquiring, he will be glad to sell in the next bull run because he will be on profits from his new investment funds.

It is true that we should spend from our investment, but spending from your investment is not easy as said.

I'm just that he has made profit from that investment since he bought it and refusing to car what he needs just because he wants the profit to go higher than the current one is just him being greedy and he doesn't make sense,  because it might take a long time because there's a new ATH and even the price of the car will double in price too considering how easily prices of things goes up every minute now in the country. He shouldn't deprive himself things he needs just because he wants to make more profit and he is even an old investor in the market so I'm sure he has made a lot of profit and it is only someone that is new to the market that is expected to feel like this.

It's wrong to take profits from your bitcoin investment when you have not met your target of how much you want to accumulate before you can stop accumulating and just hold. If you are always of the habit of selling your bitcoin each time you see profits in it, you might end up selling all your bitcoins one day. Remember that even if you take profits from your investment and the price falls, the quantity of bitcoins you have will still remain the same. It is not as if you can't sell your bitcoins when profits has been achieved but you will have to do that if you have a good reason for selling, don't just sell because want to take profits. You should understand that an investor has to keep reserved funds and emergency funds because it will help him not to touch his holdings too easily when in need of money to spend on health bills and other minor expenses that may arise.

Guys who sells their Bitcoin holdings because of short term profits should just call themselves trader (expect there are some big emergency beyond what they can handle) . Weak mindset creates creates fear of losing what has already being gained. For example, when guy start accumulating Bitcoin at the price of $60k with his DCA and the price later rises to $80k. So their conscience will be telling to take the profit and leave the remaining balance, because they feel the price might not reach that level for a long time. In their mind they see as an opportunity. That is just the mindset of a trader.  As an investor, you must be able to know that this short term pumps creates temporary profit and drop anything, it shouldn't be sell signal. it is better for an investor to put their focus into long term goal, because that's where they can get good amount of profit depending on how much Bitcoin they accumulated.

Holding Bitcoin for 4 years can not actually give this profit or gain you are talking about because it is very volatile and sometimes it can use half of a year to consolidate around a particular price so holding for 4 years interval is not really okay for a long term investor. However, the period one should sell or think of touching their investment is when they must have reach their target and exceed a bit which Is over accumulation stage and before one will get to this stage Bitcoin must have gotten to a different levels of ATH.

It depends entirely on the situation because for someone without any form of backup funds when face with an emergency taking out profit from there bitcoin investment won't be a bad idea if the money can be able to sort out whatever challenges they are facing. However it is always a good thing to have a backup funds to avoid selling or taking profits from our bitcoin investment when we are still on the accumulation phase.
It will take an investor to be consistent with accumulating bitcoin in other to be able to build a good portfolio in bitcoin and this requires patience, if an investor is always tempering with there bitcoin investment they may not be able to achieve there long term objectives.
