Everyone wants to speak of winning, building, hodling. Nobody wants to admit to constantly adapting, constantly hustling, constantly being on alert... It wears you down.

The world has changed to somewhere where stability is not the default anymore. So you have to create it yourself. And that takes energy. A lot of energy. The problem is that energy is not infinite. So you're in this loop and you work harder to build security, but working harder just uses up the energy you need to keep building security. It's an easy trap to fall into and a hard one to escape.

Though, exhaustion is information. It's your body and mind telling you that something in the system you've built is not sustainable yet. Maybe it's the type of work. Maybe it's the pace. Maybe it's the lack of rest inbuilt into the process. And the people who know how to listen to exhaustion without giving up altogether, those are the people who last.

I don't believe this is about blaming anybody or waiting for things to change back or anything. Things don't normally change back. But, basically we can fight and put hard word work for what is within our control and for the things beyond our control, we need to wait and depend on others. This is the reason, people are believing into the luck factor and then going into religious belief. In our everyday life, not everything within our control but you need to be make sure that you are fulfilling and doing everything perfect on the things which are within your control and the rest are driven by external force, sometimes it is termed as 'fate' or 'luck'.

Waiting for things or depending on others cannot be a strategy, I agree. But we cannot do anything about few other things where definitely depending on others' decision like government or other higher authorities or even our parents.

Take the government thing that you mentioned. Sure, you can't vote them out tomorrow, or rewrite laws or whatever. The question is what do you do while you're waiting for them to make their decision. And most people (myself included, honest) use that waiting time to do nothing. We call it "outside our control" and then we just Stop.

So many points to pick out from this post because it basically concerns every single person, especially those that are not of a good standard financially. You see, the problem with so many today is that they spend more time asking questions, rather than finding solutions. The majority already believes that it is a norm to live an average life where you can basically afford just to feed, while seeing quality financial standards as opportunities that only a very few who are lucky enough, gets.

Personally, I have always believed that opportunities doesn't present itself in the same pattern to every single person. There are people who needs to put in effort to create opportunities for themselves, while there are others that just get, probably based on merits or other reasons. Like you said, the world is changing. The earlier people starts seeing things differently, the better for them otherwise, they will remain stagnant, while allowing those that has figured things out, to feel like the very lucky ones.

Responsibility doesn't mean much if you have not options to choose from. And, I'm not saying that people shouldn't take responsibility.

We talk about "creating opportunities" like it's neutral. Like everyone has the same tools and the same start point. But that's just not true. Some people are born to networks. They know people who know people. They have a cousin who can get them an interview or a parent who can float them money for 6 months while they sort things out.

I always say that life is short. If there's something you want to try, just do it. It's the same with skills that you want to learn. Don't waste time on waiting for everything to fix itself.

That said, I'm always amazed of how many people are stuck in the economy they don't like , that drains them every day and steals the fruit of their labor, but they're afraid to move and do something about it.
You can do very little but even small steps are better than no steps. People who get stuck waiting usually end up not achieving anything in their lives, because working whole day on minimum wage is not getting you anywhere.

People endure for years in a situation draining them in the hope that something outside their control will move. And it almost never does. The world doesn't rescue you. You have to move yourself. But it's not always fear. Sometimes it's decision fatigue. When you're working minimum wage and every day is just survival you don't have that mental space to plan an escape route. Your brain is on fire fighting mode, 24/7. You know you have to change something, but by the time you get home, you're too tired to think of what or how.

The other thing is that the small steps do not work if you don't know which way to step in. A lot of people aren't stuck because they're lazy and scared. They're stuck because they truly don't know what to move next. They do not have a model of how to get from where they are to somewhere better. Nobody taught them. And in the midst of being stretched thin, it can cost you months or years of experimenting with the wrong move.

To put it more simply, I would say that we should do what we can do right now to the best of our ability. Whether it's gaining knowledge, experience, or even conducting research.

At the very least, gaining knowledge and skills is a priority. Because having something that is considered more valuable than others will make us superior. And there will be many who will need our services or even our knowledge.

Makes absolutely sense to me and kudos for bringing such an important discussion. Indeed things have changed alot and are still changing..
I can't seem to forget when I was a kid, there was this particular biscuit I used to buy for a very small amount of money here in my country, and fast forward to this day, if that biscuit still existed, it would cost a fortune based on how expensive things have become now but unfortunately, the biscuit no longer exists.

Cost of living is increasing almost on daily basis, I remember when I used to Earn about $100 in a month, I was comfortable, yeah, I wasn't rich but I was comfortable, compare then to now that I earn x4-x5 more, it seems to me I was more comfortable financially back then than I am now, what is the reason? Cost of living has gone up extremely and now, I don't know about other countries but here in my country, very little percentage of people and it's the elites, that can survive on one job alone, those who are sensible are doing every thing they can to equip their self with multiple skills that will help them create multiple streams of income and this is the right thing.

If work wears you down, then opt out and live a poor life. Work itself is not something that wears you down, and neither is anything else that you have written aside from being alert -- which physiologically wears you down. Nevertheless, that state of alertness is a choice and not a requirement for the other things. You can hustle, adapt, work a lot without being on alert. People confuse analytical analysis with emotional worrying and stress. Analytical analysis does not have any negative effects on your body, but most people only know how to do the other stuff. To be clear, the world is in a very bad state but the comforts that the average person experiences have never been greater. If what a person wants to do primarily is to watch Netflix and waste their life away on other mind numbing activities, then perhaps the primary issue is the person itself and not a state of things?

Work can be fulfilling and energizing. However, you need to have the right mindset and you need to work smart. We should stop calling stupid workers as hard workers to be frank. If you want the market to honor you then you will have to stay relevant in the market otherwise the market will leave you behind.

I agree that everything is now becoming more expensive. Not just on material things, but even the activities that we want to do are also becoming more expensive. You want to try new sports, find new hobbies, or even just hang out with your friends, they are now expensive.
