I don't want to play devil's advocate here, I mean moron's advocate, but you've made me reread the rules, and I don't find a single one against burst posting as such. It's always been a managers' rule, not a forum one.

That refers to one, same thread, not to what is usually called burst posting which would be to post in short intervals of time in multiple threads. By the was, I seem to remember years ago people used to talk about burst posting more like posting multiple times in less than five minutes whereas today it's ten.

You need to learn to contain your salt given that my technical competency outshines yours by a factor of at least 10 fold and most of the other users by at least 100. Many free forums (tech, gambling etc) have quality content without the pay per post incentives but somehow this forum needs that incentive to attract good posters and still, we attract shitposters more. And banning shitposters creates empty spots for good posters but the problem is, there isn’t a sufficient supply of good posters. Maybe that’s the problem. People don’t want to make good posts even though they get paid. There is quite an insult to this forum… The other problem is, this place lately looks more like a gambling forum than a btc forum… it used to be the opposite. Maybe we are more focused on gambling because of the sig camps, the saddening part isn’t this. It is that there isn’t much left to talk about btc.

I thought this was going to be another boring bump by someone who simply can't let things go after having their feelings hurt.

I love it, this is the kind of genuine, quality content that this place needs. Not pretentious pattern-like posting, defended by joining contests or sucking up to established members by joining paid pools or whatever other fucking loopholes naive western people have created for 3rd world scammers.   Posts do not have to be very long or technical, they have to be genuine that is all it takes. Whoever is posting in any kind of predictable pattern is not genuine.

The pay rate is low, the rules are backward and many individuals from the status quo are doing all it takes to preserve the old order. When incentives are fucked up like this, of course you are not going to attract any kind of quality posters. You are barely holding on to the last 2 members that are closely aligned to Bitcoin Core, achow and gmaxwell and only a few technical members. Clearly, some things are being done the right way -- but hey, I should not be too critical about it in public because that will upset some feelings. Satoshi would be quite proud what was done with this place, the very core of Bitcoin is not present at all in this forum.

Well, admins can check IP logs, to check where he logins from (I am pretty sure they won't share though but just a thought). Also, it's possible that he could be from elsewhere and living elsewhere or using VPN so this might not do much.

nullius too was retarded when it came to trust ratings and similar stuff but unlike satofan but he wasn't insulting people directly as far as I remember. He was doing it indirectly, the clever way, which satofan doesn't know much about.

nullius also had a certain posting style. he was using quotes, photos, different font sizes, colors etc... possibly he stopped doing these because these habits would reveal his real identity easily.

However he was also not as obsessed as satofan with the btc technicals either. He knew shit but he appeared to know so many other shit as well, especially the cryptography stuff.

The forum does not need more detectives, it needs more enforcement. There are plenty of great people who are doing this kind of work and there is no need to name the examples, they know who they are. I only tag shitposting misinformation as I encounter it, and there is a lot of it from members of all ranks. My views have been validated on many examples after nutildah started signature banning users, and he is even being quite soft compared to what actually needs to be done but this was significant progress.

If this place is ever going to become anything useful to Bitcoin again, then it needs to radically change. Right now, 99% of the forum's active user base does not give a flying fuck about Bitcoin -- they are a complete net negative for Bitcoin. Fewer than 0.1% of the people receiving signature campaign payments are even running a node, but hey as long as the user writes how Bitcoin is great in generic terms that means that the user actually supports it?

I have been part of Forum communities before and I do not remember any of it ever being a place for 'formal discussion' as if we are all powering laptops and computers on at 9 AM with a cup of coffee, all in suits and ready to talk about the future of what ever that Forum was about.  Bitcoin Talk was always to me like a 'Twitter for boomers', the old style of having a conversation with people, it was never about being the one with the most knowledge, the future Satoshi and what ever other B S.

Technical knowledge matters but not all the time.  You do not need it in most of the Topics started here.  When you do need it, it happens to be in one of the four Boards.  Development & Technical Discussion, Bitcoin Technical Support, Mining or Project Development.  Now if you open any of these Boards you can see how much silence there is because realistically, VERY few will actually be that advanced.

First of all because that level of knowledge is unnecessary.  You do not need to know how to identify parts of your engine to drive a car, the same way you do not need to have a Bitcoin developer level of knowledge to use Bitcoin.  Even if you need an advanced level of Privacy and what not, you can achieve most things with out knowing it ALL.

Now.  'Knowing it all' is obviously an advantage, but I do not think this was ever mandatory here.  Again.  If you go back to the first pages of any Board, you can see that very few people were technically advanced even back when Satoshi was around Bitcoin Talk.

I never said I was an expert in Bitcoin or that I have a significant level of technical knowledge and still, enough people found me useful here and there and I am now close to 3000 Merits.  I do believe others deserve a LOT more but I am guessing I did my part every now and then and people some how occasionally think I am worth an extra Merit point.

And I am not ashamed in any way by the level of knowledge I currently have.  I definitely want to know and learn more, which is some thing I was thinking about earlier today.  But this is the 'Bitcoin TALK' Forum and not the 'Bitcoin EXPERTISE' Forum.

The saddest part is that some people come here with a high level of expertise and their ego takes over and rules their personality.  I unfortunately see this with a lot of smart or knowledgeable people.  In their own mind, they feel like the main character that rules them all only because they have more answers than the rest.  From the outside, it is simply the kind of insufferable personality you would want out of the room.  Then they get rejected and still talk as if Bitcoin Talk needs more 'experts'.

Sure.  We do.  It would be great if we would.  But we have a perfect example now why we rarely ever do.

I don't think that's true at all.

First, the Bitcoin knowledge rabbit hole goes so deep that most of us will never truly understand how it works at the basest levels, because we don't care enough to spend that much time on it. I'm learning new things about Bitcoin all the time, sometimes through my own trial and error in interacting with the network. There is always something to learn about Bitcoin that you didn't know before.

Second, there's a lot of new and interesting things happening around Bitcoin all the time, its just that it requires more than a surface-level attempt to uncover what they are. Again, most people don't want to put the time into the digging, and that is because they seem this forum more as a job than an opportunity to educate oneself.

Crazy to think there's nothing left to talk about.
