I have not heard about this lottery before but I know it is very possible. There are few countries that do not tax lotteries, gambling and betting at all and there can be special occasions that they will not be taxed just like this one. But you can not say that it is not taxed.

The amount of the main prize is impressive, and if you take all the taxes into account, it's twice as good. In my country, there are no such large lotteries. Just out of interest, I looked up the maximum prize, and it was less than a million dollars, and that was almost three years ago. And that's without taking taxes into account. In our country, the tax on profits is 18-20%.

This is the first time I've heard of this lottery, but it seems to be very popular in your country. I assume this is because of the amount of money at stake, although that's understandable since Brazil is a huge country, and I suppose this is normal given the population. And regarding my country, I think it's similar to yours, but without as much money involved. But I suppose every country has its own famous lottery; it's just part of its folklore.

I have had about lotteries. This one that the winner will be announced at the last day of the month is strange to me. My country's lottery system is porous since it has some records of fraud. However, something similar to Mega da Virada doesn't exist.

I haven't heard of that lottery but whoever gets to win that will surely change their life forever. While there have been almost the same type of lottery but it's not as exact when it's drawn like for this Mega da virada, specifically for the new year's eve.

I guess that whoever wins will have to welcome the year of 2026 with a great happiness and joy if they win that.

Perhaps in the past we had one, but I don't think there's anything similar in my country at present. Most lotteries are free to participate in, as far as I'm aware, so they can't reward their customers with a ton of money. At best, the prize is something like a high-tier phone or computer. Well, maybe they can do that for publicity, but the effect is probably uncertain.

But the bad thing is that it's used for corruption by our politicians because a lot of winners have been winning millions of dollars almost everyday, it all started last year. This is the first time heard of this kind of lottery Mega da Virada.  My country don't have this kind of special lottery if I am not missing something.  All we have here are just regular lottery.

It is really great if one win the lottery and the prize is tax-free, unlike the other countries where the lottery winnings are subject to tax.  Like the one I stumbled upon on the internet where a person who won $1B+ from the lottery has to pay taxes and receive just a little more than $600m+ after the tax were deducted.

This is th first time I am coming across this kind of lottery and I must concur that it sounds fun and entertaining and if I were to have a chance to participate in such, I wouldn't mind losing the funds I can to at least try out my luck.
Who knows, I might just be the luckiest person and the win could just be the answers to my prayers.
I haven't heard of such happening in my country, but if such surely does exist because I somehow believe it can already be in existence but with a different name, I would love to participate in it, after all, how much more can I lose that isn't on my budget of expenses in this yuletide leading into a new year, 2026.

Seems like a fun event for the end of the year. Imagine winning the jackpot, that's a very happy new year indeed. Advertising the amount after taxes is also a good idea. I guess it's just a psychological effect, but people usually get disappointed knowing that there will be deductions to their winnings, so it's better for them to think that they win the full amount.

We only have the national lottery, nothing specific for new year's eve, and the prize isn't that high too. I checked and it was ₱280 million (PHP), which is approximately $4.7 million (USD), subject to 20% tax.

I don't heard that lottery. It is not available on here but people choose the low prize lottery. The lottery here is not same as in your country. Most you can see here is people spending their money to buy many things, they get the tickets with the numbers, hold it until the results come and see if they win or not.

People know they don't have much chances to win, they are enthusiasm buy many things because they will have more tickets to win the prizes. But if they don't win, that will not be a problem because they can fulfills their needs while buying the things.
