Do you guys have any stories about friends, relatives, or family members who did not believe in Bitcoin in 2011 or afterward, claiming it was a scam, and now regret their decision not to buy it at that time?

I do have this story when my officemates including my manager once interested on Bitcoin when they saw me investing on it during 2015. Bitcoin price back then is very low while there’s only few exchange available to use in my country which they can deposit fiat.

They become easily discouraged on the inconvenience for depositing fiat to Bitcoin that leads to lose of interest on investment. Few years later during the 2017 crypto hype they become so jealous to me and at the same time regretful for not pursuing Bitcoin investment.

Even until now they are being regretful because they are still not buying while there’s only few price skyrocketed again to the highest level. They nave a lot of chances but they keep not believing.

I was ones a non believer of bitcoin( digital money sounded impossible to me then). But I guess people change. It took me a while to understand the purpose of bitcoin it self. Situations came where bitcoin was the best solution.It's been a long time coming..

As for those still doubting, I guess you are enjoying the way government controls your funds for you.. something huge is going to happen this year in my country( government forcing tax on everyone as long as you own a bank account). We are still waiting for their final say but we all know how it will end.

It is not about the digital money because there are famous digital money before Bitcoin came in the scene. It is just that Bitcoin is still foreign is the one that hesitates people from using it. From foreign, it is literally new, I mean its technology and stuff. That makes Bitcoin to stand out because it has its own primary use apart from being an alternative.

Even though fiat is also secure, in a way that governments and banks are backing it, but it is just that it only had some draw backs like inflation and a much stricter control. They say that we are our own bank when we use Bitcoin but there are also laws now on some countries that taxes the Bitcoin users.

$126k is the formal ATH, since in fact, due to inflation, the value of bitcoin didn't exceed the ATH for the previous peak.

Interesting, I never thought about looking at the Price in inflation adjusted Dollars.  But how did it not exceed its previous All Time High?  The one around 20,000 Dollars, even if inflation adjusted, still does not reach the inflation adjusted almost 100,000.

I am fortunate to come from a family with a good educational background, where accepting differences is considered the greatest wisdom. If one person brings a difference into the family, the others will listen and try to understand it fully. Bitcoin is not unfamiliar to our family, so there is no rejection. Not all family members choose Bitcoin for investment, but that's not a problem at all.
My family (my wife and children) also have no objections, especially my wife. It's not yet time for me to tell my children.

When it comes to friends or people in my neighborhood, even those at work in the real world, I used to have the mindset that Bitcoin was unclear. It's not my job to convince them, even though I've already told them that Bitcoin is not what they think it is.
Not in 2011. By the end of 2017, yes. And the difference that led to positive action occurred after 2020, when Bitcoin became a new path for me.

Learning from that year, I want to say that just as you protect yourself and your family, that’s how you should protect this asset.

I also know several people who laughed or warned that it was crazy at the time. Today, they don't express their opinions as much, but curiously, they know the exact price when it goes up. I remember that the typical comments were that Bitcoin is useless, it's a scam, or it's going to die. I even know someone very close to me who still has doubts. Well, it's not going to carve forever in people's mind and they still have a chance to be with us. And as they know the exact price whenever it goes up.

This is the part that is interesting; I have a friend and brother who regret it now. I have told them about Bitcoin at the beginning when I was involved with it. When I was abroad for a job, I shared with my engineer, who insignificanced me when I advised him about Bitcoin and told me it is a scam. He also told me you will lose funds on it; don't invest. Probably last year he called me and regretted why he hadn't invested in Bitcoin; otherwise, he would be a billionaire now since he could even buy hundreds Bitcoin during that time.

When I came on vacation, I shared about Bitcoin with my close friend. He ignored me and said it's a scam. Last year we met again, and he was aware of my current status, and then he regretted it as well. Last year also I told them it's time to invest, but they dared. I failed to explain it to them, unfortunately, but I convinced a couple of friends and brothers to invest in Bitcoin. Though the market is in bad condition now, they know it very well. I explained about potential losses as well.

lol, we all have those stories now, its like a universal bitcoin experience. the regret is real for so many.
theres the dude who thought it was a "steel medallion" and passed, or the one who spent potential btc on league of legends skins, thinkin "dead inside" sums up the feelin pretty well. even the ceos and economists who hated on it early are doin a total 180 now.
best advice from the old threads? life goes on. the second best time to buy is always now. the haters are just sleepin thru history, same as they did in 2011.

2025 was mostly a disappointing year if you ask me because if we omit the ATH, on January 1, 2025 price was a little higher than $90k and on January 1, 2026 price is a little lower than $90k so we can say 2025 was the year of ups and downs without a major rally.

I believe 2026 will be the same since the global economic hardship has not changed and it is getting worse so the sell pressure will remain while bitcoin is seen more as a safe haven. So we can expect a new ATH but I don't think we can see any major rally... just like last year.

Real talk, if one should honestly judge 2025 Annual price performance like from January 1st to today 2026 January 1st, from what I observed it was largely a side ways year despite the new ATH.



There was a good amount of volatility but even as that there was still no sustainable breakout.
But it's not surprising because If you take a look what is going on now, slow economic growth, tight liquidity, high interest rates, geopolitical uncertainties All of that, this is enough reason to keep the coin on a high sell pressure.

The coin is viewed as a safe haven rather than a speculative assets, it will go up definitely but it might not be as quick as most of us think

Nevertheless there is a very good probability that new ATH will be formed this year 2026, but expecting a huge significant growth this year will be considered unrealistic in my point of view .

Between 2011 and 2015, there was no infrastructure for cryptocurrencies. There were a few large exchanges and many smaller ones.
I learned about Bitcoin early on, but I bought it for $300-400 and sold it for a bit more. Back then, no one believed this coin could rise significantly in price. Now, things are different.

You are right, because back then, people couldn't even think of Bitcoin reaching $50k, and I'm talking about times before 2014 or so, because the price of bitcoin was pretty low at that time, and there weren't a lot of investors back then, so even though people could think that if demand increases, the value will increase as well because the supply is limited, but people were probably not that confident back then because Bitcoin's popularity was still questionable because of how negatively the media used to demonstrate it.

Because of how the media used to demonstrate Bitcoin negatively, people used to think that Bitcoin is not good, it's a scam coin, or a currency used by criminals, because they mostly used to say this thing, connecting it with criminal activities and trying to frame it as something negative, and people used to believe all those things. Now, all those who used to say those things and those who used to believe in those things are all regretting it because they have missed an opportunity of a lifetime.

That's very likely because we've seen a lot of haters in the past. But little did we know, they're already invested in. And they have done that for them to push the price to go cheaper and so they can buy more. They know how to fool people's mind and emotions through their convincing hateful words about it.

Haha I am happy and I recommend everyone to be attached to Bitcoin. Because it teaches us to take risk, we never know what the year has for us. It can be good and bad but we never know.

There are so many stories about people who regret their decision not to buy Bitcoin. All of these stories often begin with their distrust of Bitcoin. And then they can only watch as the Bitcoin chart soars sky-high. That's when they regret their decision and even realize their misunderstanding of Bitcoin. Yes, almost all people that I talked to way back in 2014 are now in regret that they did not pay attention when I was introducing Bitcoin to them.

Recently no one has ever said any negative comment about bitcoin, I know different people still feel bitcoin will disappoint investors and some day everyone will regret but, from my end there’s no such and I don’t want to encounter any type of bitcoin misconception.
