After thinking it over, I don't think I made any mistakes in 2025 in terms of Bitcoin investment. I treated my DCA well. The shortcoming last year was financial problems that I couldn't fully manage as I wanted to for other things because there were one or more activities that required me to work hard to cover them. Fortunately, my investments weren't disrupted, and I expect this year to go smoothly since it's my final year of studies at university. If any obstacles arise, I'll have to find alternative solutions that don't disadvantage me.

Some years could be such an achievement you know, when you look back and see that, you did a lot on your to do list if you had one. It’s equally a good year when it’s far better than the previous year else, you could be out for something bad.

I did make a lot of mistakes last year and gambling did top that chart. I lost a lot of money to gambling, money I could have used for something important or would benefit me more but, 2025 is behind us now, hope to make better this year.

This might be a mistake you are about to make because discretionary income like you know should be like liquidity for you that you use to run other expenses so that your btc investment will not be touched and can grow to your target area. So if you are going to it to make new investment, the load might be more that you may still come back to your investment. So to enjoy bitcoin investment, it needs time and that is why you need backup plans to safeguard your investment.
How is he wrong? Discretionary incomes are supposed funds left after you minus both taxes and expenses from your actual income.

If he decides to increase his BTC investment budget, he is absolutely right, Bitcoin investment don't fall under expenses budgeting.

If he want's all his discretionary income to go into investment, there is nothing wrong, if he prefers not to diverse that is because he understands the benefits, besides 2026 might be a bearish season were Bitcoin will be bought at a cheaper price.

Gambling is a dangerous game if you add some crypto investment to it? It's like you're doubling your risk percentage.

Instead of gambling, why just focus to crypto investing since it's also a gamble in the first place? Mistakes are understandable and I hope you will recover this year. Crypto is very volatile to the point that it looks like a gambling, focusing to it might lessen the risks and of course you can have a good position, good DCAs and of course huge amount invested because you're not using your money for gambling, just for investing. This year 2026, step up from our mistakes, do what we think is right and have a good money management.

The first decision I made in this year 2026 is that my discretionary income has increased a bit. And I will start investing more of that additional discretionary income from now.
It's a good decision that you'll invest that increase you've made and so, another increase will also be enjoyed by you. And that's about an increased potential profits once the market becomes better.

You'll also get to hold more Bitcoins by that time because you'll be more consistent than what others are mostly doing.

Because when others have got an increase salary, what they do is celebrate with it nonstoply and they have no clear plan of how they'll spend it.

You still have plenty of time to improve it. Gambling isn't bad if we can manage our bankroll well.
If gambling was at the top of your list of mistakes last year, by 2026 you'll know how to handle it. I'm not telling you to stay away from gambling because you're the one who makes decisions about all the choices you make.
If you usually spend a whole week gambling, cut it down to just 3 days. Enjoy it, then walk away.

We should talk about decisions, and about mistakes when they are truly mistakes. They may seem like simple things, but distinguishing them helps to better channel concepts and opinions. In that sense, decisions (or decision-making) entail responsibilities and, consequently, liabilities.

It was my decision not to enter Bitcoin in its early stages. I always joke that I have a Twitter account from 2009, when I should have had an account here on the forum instead. The former didn’t change my life, but surely an account here on the forum would have. That’s not a mistake; it’s circumstantial.

Anyway, the point is that many complain they didn’t get into bitcoin in time, while others want to become “investors” overnight. They come up with ideas about dollar-cost averaging, taking “x” percentage of their income and putting it into bitcoin, etc. But the reality is that the goal is to understand Bitcoin, support it, and above all, trust it.
Bitcoin didn’t reach its current price because everyone thinks like you (OP); it’s because people believed in something (that something was the Bitcoin)

So, OP, have you read the Bitcoin white paper? Do you understand its premises? That’s more important than simply being an investor. If everyone only becomes an investor (and yes, investors are needed), Bitcoin could go to hell. Investors usually have confidence only in the short term.
Understand me: if you choose to be an investor, that’s your decision, but not thinking about being a HODLer could be a mistake. Smiley

That’s all for now; a short thought.

Speaking of decisions, I decided to start 2026 with my first post on one of the most distinguished boards of this forum, the same place where I began writing my first posts in English.
I think hodling was what the OP meant and it only works long term, a person can not claim to be HODLing bitcoin when they are willing to sell every chance they get because at that point they are just looking for short term gains and while there are alot of people into bitcoin for something like this after all we can't all be HODLers, as regrettable as it might seem there will always be people who want to get rich quick out of bitcoin and while my advice would be that they change their mindset they are still welcome to do whatever they want with their bitcoin while the rest of us keeps HODLing.
Every man should do what works for them, it's a free world.
