When will we see the end of nuclear deterrance (MAD)?

Since the US copied the former USSR ballistic missile technology in 1960, the world has lived under the threat of Mutually Assured Destruction (MAD).  I remember growing up in the 70s on a farm outside of Edmonton, AB and I would constantly worry about a nuke over the oil processing areas.   No leader has has the insanity AND support to launch a nuke because it would mean the destruction of your own country.

Today both the US and China have their own ballistic defense systems under development.  The US is going with a centralized multi‑layered missile defense (Golden Dome), while China has concentrated on regional and naval ABM interceptors.  The US just announced theirs last year so it won't be ready before 2030.  It also relies on very vulnerable satellites.  However, China has been developing since 2018 and is very secretive - with their manufacturing might and decentralized nature, these systems could surround China before their 2027 invasion.   If China has such a system, announcing it will end the status quo of superpowers.  Stockpiling nukes will be banned... along with the existing US arsenal. 

Remember all the alien movies where they save a violent humanity by removing the ability for war?    When do you think China will end MAD?

I don't know when it will end. Maybe when all countries around the whole world have the ability to possess nuclear weapons?

It's quite unfair that the only country that has ever used nukes or atomic bombs against civilians is the one allowed to police around the usage or acquisition of nuclear weapons by other states that have never used such against humanity. Maybe China would do better if they were the "police"

We'll see that when any regime that possesses weapons of mass murder is disarmed, specially rogue regimes. You don't want a pedophile like Trump (or any of the other US presidents) to have the ability to start a nuclear war just because he feared the evidence of him raping a child could come out and end him, so he needed a "distraction"!!!

As long as such rogue regimes have WMDs and threaten the global security and order, we will continue seeing proliferation because others will have to protect themselves against that rogue regime. Then in the future we may end up seeing them go rogue as well after amassing such large number of WMDs.

So the only solution is disarmament. And it has to be started from top down. US, Russia and China have to all be disarmed of their weapons of mass murder.

That's another major scam project in the US to fill up the pockets of arms dealers with billions of dollars of American taxpayers money. Otherwise we already know Western missile defense systems are utterly useless against ballistic missiles specially for such a vast geography as North America. After all the entire NATO missile defense could not protect 10k km² back in June 2025, how could a much smaller number protect 9.8 million km²? Not to mention that US does not have the capacity to produce intercept missiles! I mean 12 SM3 in 1 year? Are you kidding me? LOL

The American arms dealers are just trying to get trillions of dollars out of the crumbling US economy into their own pockets while Trump and his gang pocket a hefty chunk of it as their commission as brokers of this scam.

This scam will be the last one for Democracy.  He is borrowing a trillion dollars every hundred days just to keep status quo.  China is also in a financial bubble, but they are controlling their citizens with a common enemy - Taiwan and the US.  Nothing boosts the economy like a war.

Let's all just hope China has perfected their anti ballistic defense by then.  Rather live under communism than under ground.

You know last year, I discussed this with a friend about the wars that are erupting among different countries with unequal military power, and he just jokingly said that maybe if every country in the world could own a military weapon it would deter the next country from attacking it's neighbouring country or any other, having the understanding that the opponent country also has such massive destructive weapons as theirs. I only told him that their would be uprising anarchy in the world beyond what we have now.
