I wrote this thread in response to a comment that, I saw on one of the threads in our local board which was blaming government for the reason why there seems to be a lack of sufficient knowledge base when it comes to the Nigerian crypto community.https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5570265.msg66247148#msg66247148

I want to say that if our government can't stop us from adopting crypto currency as a people because, Nigerians has been able to gain success when it comes to adopting rate as we are among the top ten countries in the world with the highest rate of crypto adoption globally. So we should also get it right when it comes to the rate of enlightenement and education that exists we have not been able to translate our rate of acceptance to the value we place on bitcoin which will be largely influenced by education.Stop seeing crypto as an escape route out of your current situation because this is fundamental and key to every crypto adopter in the country this is the best way for any one who is interested in crypto. There is a big gap that exists when you measure the rate of crypto adoption and the number of person's that, truly understand what the concept of crypto currency especially Bitcoin is. We should look inward and look at were we have not gotten it right because with the success we have recorded in adoption rate there is also a high level of ignorance that exists within us.
Finally if we are to get it right when it comes to crypto currency then the following should be followed.

We should give attention to studying instead of getting rich through Bitcoin/crypto currency.

Discuss with people who are into crypto currency especially in topics that bothers on technical aspects of crypto currency.

That Bitcoin or crypto currency is not a ponzi scheme were you invest today and make gain today.

That Bitcoin is a Long term investment plan.

I have gone through the thread that you shared and I don't see anywhere that it is mentioned in the OP that government was blamed for lack of sufficient crypto knowledge.

Nobody should expect our government to give them tutorials or encourage them to buy cryptocurrency and how to protect against losing their cryptocurrency. Let us remember that Nigeria, is not fully a crypto friendly country so we shouldn't expect any encouragements from them regarding cryptocurrency. If you want to gain knowledge about cryptocurrency there are many learning materials online to guide you. If anybody is expecting government to educate them about cryptocurrency and Blockchain technology it means that they are not prepared to be holders. With the stance of our government on cryptocurrency matters I don't think that it is reasonable to blame them for lack of crypto knowledge because they are not in full support of it by their actions.

We have sites like this bitcointalk forum and platforms on social media that are dedicated to discussions and enlightenment about cryptocurrency. But we should bear in mind that there are lots of scammers and hacks online so research and knowing reputable sources about cryptocurrency is very important.

Op your words is motivating and is extremely helpful indeed you are very correct cryptocurrency investments expecially Bitcoin is a free gift of nature to the world expecially those that has interest in it ,their is actually nothing concerned government over those who lack the interest or educated over Bitcoin investment, neither they should blame themselves, they have been saying about how Bitcoin investment has helped many and will still help in future yet many are adamant about it, government shouldn't be blamed in anyone down fall tomorrow because government will not take care of everyone need at the same time ,their is an adage that says ,think of what you can do to government not what government can do for you.

This is to tell you that the government can't help everyone they also need support from us ,some many billionaires today still give government money for projects so where on earth would someone think that the government can afford to help everyone,to those that lack educated via Bitcoin investment should use their tongue and count their teeth.

The Nigerian government has not fully supported the trading of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrency in Nigeria, so it will be a difficult task to educate and enlighten citizens of Nigeria on bitcoin trading. However, anyone who has interest in bitcoin and cryptocurrency trading can attend bitcoin seminars, join bitcoin forums and read bitcoin a d cryptocurrency related books.

Nigerians are highly involved in bitcoin trading and to be candid, is a welcomed development. Bitcoin is a digital currency that is changing the trends of fiat currency which is being controlled by the federal government of Nigeria, giving our fiat currency stability and sustenance through investment. Bitcoin is a solid digital currency that worth investing our money, and I strongly believe Nigeria government will one day embrace the technology behind the use of bitcoin.

Op I am not debunking your argument but I am also saying that, government policies in Nigeria affected the mass adoption of bitcoin. I am saying this from my personal experience. There was a time, I told someone to invest in bitcoin and she told me that, government has not approved the use of the currency so she would not invest in it because Banks are not accepting it and if government noticed, her bank account is gone. And that time, government was tracking the cryptocurrency users to ban their accounts. And one of my friend account was banned.

The world now is growing digitally and cryptocurrencies like bitcoin particularly is taking over the space with some countries having seen the importance and its value they have swiftly moved to adopt it and embrace it. I think the Nigerian Government really have a role to play in terms of crypto education because it’s the duty of the government to ensure good education in what holds value and will benefit its citizens. With time I still believe that crypto education will become more popular among people in the country because that’s where the world is heading to
