Earlier today, the US launched strikes against Venezuela in an apparent attempt to evict Maduro from power and to stop the dangerous drugs that can have lethal effects from being sent to the United States.
There appears to be chaos at various military bases in Venezuela. I think it is reasonable to believe the corruption in the country has led to its military being unprepared for such an attack, and they are likely unwilling to defend their country's dictator.
These strikes follow what President Trump described as an embargo against Venezuela, and the seizure of two boats that were facilitating the sale of Venezuelan oil.
The embargo and seizure of the two boats follow the deaths of tens of thousands of Americans every year as a result of the drugs shipped to the US via Venezuela.
In addition to the above, Maduro is obviously in power illegitimately, as he has repeatedly rigged elections, jailed his political opponents, and prevented the legislature from removing him from power. He has relied on corrupt members of his own military and help from Cuba's intelligence services.
What do you think? How quickly will Trump win the war?

I have the OP on ignore, but I'll take advantage of this thread to say that I hope Trump shoves a huge missile up Maduro's ass.
Bad day for lefties, they're furious.

Trump will win his Nobel Prize for war, failing to win the Nobel Peace Prize, but above all, he will win a lot of cheap oil.

Perhaps you prefer the current situation in which Venezuela has the largest oil reserves in the world while also being one of the poorest countries in the Americas.

Perhaps you prefer the current situation in which Venezuela has the largest oil reserves in the world while also being one of the poorest countries in the Americas. I prefer the self-determination of a people rather than replacing one dictatorship with another, even if it is disguised as a pseudo-democracy, as it will become. Venezuela's wealth belongs to the Venezuelan people. It seems to me that this is the fairest solution. Companies friendly to President Trump will certainly line their pockets, that's for sure. I'm not going to cry over dictators like Maduro or others. If he had had a little common sense, his people would have benefited, but hey, we remove a dictator from a country full of oil using drug trafficking as an excuse, and on the other hand, we pardon someone sentenced to 45 years in prison for the same reason. We just have to look at the bigger picture and say that this intervention is nothing more than a ploy to take over Venezuela's oil. CQFD in my language

Venezuela leader and people are mostly catholic and should not be attacked unless Trump has become a pagan or unbeliever who hates his fellow Christains while pretending to love them. . I have read the reason for the hatred of Venezuela and their leaders, and realize that the hatred is selfcentetrd and unjustified. How can you hate someone for protecting the interesting of his country or choosing to be communist, which is an idealogy that is partly borrowed from the Word of GOD, even though it is incompatible with the with the way of the world and will not succeed unless followed wholeheartedly. And certain part of capitalism is also borrowed and also has many issues on its own. The attacks probably would have been allowed if certain people from Venezuela persistently and continuously attack USA with dangerous drugs while the Venezuelan government support them. If this had been the case, the attack on Venezuela would be justified as long as innocent people aren't victims. And there should not be a deviation from the attack objective, which is to prevent the persistent importation of dangerous drugs into USA
But as far as I can tell, the leader and country are not oppressing or attacking Americans. They seem to always be on the defensive, defending themselves against oppression or evil from their perceived oppressors or aggressors. . Therefore, Venezuela will from now onward be protected, and any further attempt to attack her will massively backfire.. Trump should work with the leader of Venezuela to deal with the drug issues and must apologize for any unjustified attack otherwise there will be consequences that will be many times worse than unjustified attacks on Venezuela.

Your reality seems to be that the riches of the world belong to those who are able to appropriate them, especially when they don't think like us? At the rate things are going, there will soon be only three or four dictatorships left on this planet ruling the world. Choose your side and pray that it will be the strongest. I find that a very sad future.

He was arrested by US law enforcement.
A president that in power was arrested by US law enforcement? What is going on in this world with Trump. They kidnapped a president of a country but they said they arrested him. I guess PrimeNumber7 and Free Market Capitalist are from United States and Trump's lover. This is injustice because Venezuela is not having power to defend themselves.

......... He was arrested by US law enforcement. .....
Will the arrest warrent be prepared after the event, or not at all? Diplomats have Diplomatic immunity, the correct terminology would be, he was kidnapped or the bribe was large enough that he wanted to go voluntary, which is most likely.

The terrorist attacks that the US regime carried out against Venezuela last night is setting a dangerous precedent. Next we may see China do the same thing to Taiwan and "capture" its president and kill all its government officials saying they were drug dealers so we killed them!
P.S. By the way where are all the "Ruzzia/Putler guys" on this? It's a rhetorical question of course. We already know their stance. I once asked one of them about his stance on the illegal invasion of Iraq and Ukraine supplying the largest number of forces to slaughter over a million civilians including women and children there. They answered "it was a 'special operation' for peacekeeping". <insert facepalm here>

I don't think there is any evidence that anyone in Taiwan is shipping any drugs into China. Such an operation would likely trigger a military response from the US.

That is the dangerous precedent I was talking about. US regime is turning the world into jungle where anyone can make up any story about any other nation and then carry out whatever acts of aggression they like based on those lies. BTW a direct military action by US is unlikely because that is against their plans and their doctrine. Their doctrine is a Nixon Doctrine kind of thing, aka proxy wars. They'll sell weapons to Taiwan to fight as the proxy for US (exactly as Ukraine is for Russia). They will never get involved themselves. That would defeat the purpose of all these acts of aggression.

The reason is not drugs, because according to the DEA, Venezuela is responsible for only 8% of the drugs that come to the US, the main producer is Colombia. Every war needs an excuse, and this one is definitely not about drugs, but about the huge oil reserves that the US will now control. Anyway, the next target is Greenland, which will automatically mean a declaration of war on the EU. So much for the greatest peacemaker who still hasn't won the Nobel Peace Prize despite ending dozens of wars (even those that never existed).
