While we assume lots of things about the recent transactions on Hal Finney's address, we should also put this assumption into consideration.

What if Hal Finney actually passed down vital information about his wallet to his family before his passing, so there is no unauthorised access in the first place? This transactions could be surprising to the public but could also be fully authorised if it was carried out by an heir.

Again, in my own thinking, I believe if it was truly the activities of scammers or hackers, there would have been very massive movement of funds that will probably cause panic and increase suspicion.

The current transactions we see now on his wallet does not prove anything tangible until their is a public claim to confirm our suspicion.

It’s interesting to notice activity from such an old wallet but I think it’s easy to read too much into it. The amount moved was very small and we’ve seen similar movements from old addresses before without anything coming out of it. The blockchain only shows us that a transaction happened but doesn't show us the reason behind it. Sometimes I think it’s better to acknowledge it and not force a deeper meaning where there may be none.

It definitely has a meaning, seeing how one of the deceased OG addresses was then exploited, possibly by an unauthorized person. The funds transferred were from the accumulated funds of people who sent to that address, likely as an appreciation to Hal Finney. If the address was already in the hands of an unauthorized person, I think he was too careless to transfer it now. He should have waited longer to receive more BTC from those who sent him theirs.

Hal's wallet(s) were sold/compromised in some way--  I don't know the details but I've witness unambiguously forged signatures performed with his keys (e.g. signed using code/protocols that only existed after he was on ice but claiming to be by him).

This is the first time I've read something like this, because until now I was convinced that his family had access to his account on this forum in his wallets. If his wallets were indeed compromised, do you think it could be the result of someone being able to fraudulently obtain them from his family or did they simply throw away his computers and someone got their hands on them?

Somehow it doesn't seem to me that Hal was the kind of person who would just leave things behind without taking steps to ensure that his family inherited what was
valuable.

My belief is that when they previously sold funds they just sold the entire wallet, -- not an unreasonable thing to do for someone less familiar with bitcoin as it mitigates the risk that they'd mess up accessing them or transferring the funds.

But I don't know for sure.  What I do know is that someone with access to at least one of the keys from his wallet signed a message claiming to be from Hal and stating a particular person was Satoshi -- and the signer could not have been Hal because the signature type used didn't exist while Hal was alive so it is not possible that it was authentic.

I'm not sure how accurate the information is, but Hal had several siblings and two children and of course a wife, so one of them could be in possession of these wallets. Somehow it doesn't seem to me that the family sold the wallets, because how can you do that without getting scammed or attracting too much attention?

As far as I can see, someone changed the password on his BTT account in 2017, does that match the signed address you mentioned?

He was dead in 2014 and in 2017, there was transactions.

The below information was shared by Hal Finney and he meant his wife, son and daughter are tech savvy and know how to keep wallets and bitcoin safe. Whether their wallets were compromised in 2017 or recent years, I don't know any information and confirmation about it.

Those discussions about inheriting your bitcoins are of more than academic interest. My bitcoins are stored in our safe deposit box, and my son and daughter are tech savvy. I think they're safe enough. I'm comfortable with my legacy.

I'd suspect it was something from his family or, perhaps, he gave access to a wallet or coins to Alcor (alcor.org) since he is cryopreserved there.   He was no fool, and was adept at planning ahead for contingencies, particularly once he got his diagnosis.
Giving access to his family makes sense but why would he give access to Alcor to his Money?

He might have donated some since they are a charitable organization and he would like them to succeed given his future depends on it.  Not that he would give them complete access, but perhaps some.

1Q2TWHE3GMdB6BZKafqwxXtWAWgFt5Jvm3 This Hela Fini wallet has been compromised?

That's the address that received the first transaction.

If I remember correctly, Hal organized access to his bitcoin to his family.

There's nothing really wrong or strange about it. They are most probably just using their funds.

I did a little digging and if I'm not mistaken I found a topic in which someone signed a message from an address that is assumed to have belonged to Hal. In the same thread, @shahzadafzal also speculates that it might be one of the Hal kids who signed the message just for fun.

For those who want a little more info :
