I received this notification on my phone immediately I received my signature campaign payout. I don't want to get nervous since my seed phrase is intact and hasn't been given to anyone else.



Do anyone knows what this message means and what should I do if it actually true.

I will advise you not to use Trust wallet anymore because it's a closed source wallet and one of the worst wallet I have come across so far. It's better that you create an electrum wallet and transfer your funds into it for the safety of your funds. I don't know why you haven't learned from people's mistakes. Trust wallet was hacked recently, and customers lost their funds.

OP, I have installed in my smartphone Trust Wallet's App to hold small amounts and I have not received any warning message nor I haven't lost funds either, now that I've just checked it, so chances are that the problem is only with the browser extension.

Only the wallets of the people that are using the browser extension were reported to have been compromised, the wallet apps which are not browser extensions were not reported to be compromised. But I will advise you not to use a close source wallet. Trust wallet is a close source wallet.

I have a few altcoins, which I hold there. I just opened the app and did not see any such notification, maybe because I have not had any recent transactions.

For the hack news, it was already spread last week about their extension being compromised, and those affected were promised to be repaid in full. If you are afraid for your coin safety, you should try to move your coins to another wallet, either electrum, blue wallet or any easy to use open source bitcoin wallet.

How exactly did you get this notification? I have some small amount on my trust wallet I deposited them last year and received some airdrop.
My app doesn't show any notification like this.

Did you just receive this notification from your phone? or directly from the app?

Based on the image, it said it is a browser extension. I don't use the Trust Wallet browser extension to sync my wallet from phone to PC/laptop.

If the Trust Wallet tells you to create a new one, I suggest you better move your funds out from the wallet and create a new one. If your purpose is to hold only BTC, then there are some better options, like Electrum, as others have said above.
Since there's no other open-source multicoin wallet, a hardware wallet is the only option if you want to stay safer than using Trust Wallet. If there is no budget, we can't guarantee the safety of your funds from Trust Wallet.

Optionally, you can try the Airgap vault as your hardware wallet for offline signing. It supports some wallets like MetaMask, Sparrow, etc. This is an alternative for those with no budget to buy a hardware wallet. However, it depends on what coins you are planning to hold since not all coins are supported using airgap vault.

I guess this message given above is for those who are using the Trust Wallet Chrome Browser Extension version of it, and not specifically those who uses the mobile app version of it. Because if you are using the mobile version of it on either your android or IOS, I think you are likely to be safe, but always ensure to trade with caution by not holding large amount in your Trust Wallet. However, if you are using it's Chrome Browser Extension on your Desktop computer, then you are at great risk, due to the fact that those extension are likely to be compromised and hacked by scammers. So if you have your funds in the Chrome Browser Extension version of it, kindly transfer the funds to a non custodial Bitcoin wallet, and a good example of it is "Bluewallet" and "Electrum".

Sorry, you don't know about the hack cases of trustwallet extension last several days ago? You can check fully here about trustwallet extension hacked and many people loss their fund saving in trustwallet. I got many information for some one still get safe the crypto assets in trustwallet extension please upgrade to new version because old version too risk possibility get hack.
For more security your cryptocurrency fund better move your assets to other kinds wallet and worry the current hack at trustwallet extension will continues at trustwallet APP. I think have bad reputation of security from trustwallet and its good notification moving your fund to more security wallet than keep holding in trustwallet.

If you are running a Trust Wallet on your smartphone you have no business with this warming but if you are running trust wallet on your browser it's better you avoid using the wallet, better install another wallet for your Bitcoin.

It's best to always follow crypto news because you knowing about this Trust wallet hack is too late.

Whether you care about security or not, the wallet is still usable. It's important to note that it has experienced several security issues since its launch, read about them here.

If I were you, I wouldn't expose myself to such risk so early on. Maybe the next thing is a vulnerability in the app version, who knows?

If you still have your funds in your wallet then you should move it to another wallet because the browser extension of trustwallet was compromised that's why you received that warning on your phone. If you haven't know about it thrn check the link that has been provided here because it's all about what happened to trustwallet browser extension of trustwallet. For their apps is I don't have any warnings received although I don't store funds in there for too long.

Trust Wallet has announced that they are also notifying Trustwallet users who have the same address (or have imported it) to the mobile version of Trust Wallet. I saw the announcement in the "Trust Wallet - Announcements" section of their official Telegram account. So, you are also advised to abandon your old compromised wallet and use a new one (if you have any crypto in it, transfer it to the new wallet immediately). By the way, I have an additional suggestion: delete your old wallet immediately after transferring your crypto assets to the new one. You might forget about your compromised wallet someday, and I think it could be dangerous to transfer large assets to your old wallet. Who knows, right?

I see about that, I was finding an alternative wallet and planning to put some funds on trust,t luckily I didn't start moving funds before this issue. I've been using Electrum for my Bitcoin for a long time, and it works great and smoothly so far never had any problems for many years of using it. I think it is a great wallet, since it is just an easy install on my computer, great if you do not have a budget for a hardware wallet. Didnt know it is a close source wallet, so i guess it is better to avoid it, I've used the trust wallet application in the past and it was great but I guess it is time to let go, not to mention we have a issue on the browser wallet, It is just better to be safe so I instantly move my funds anyway.

If I'm not mistaken, this incident has already issued a refund on Binance, so if you're one of the unlucky ones who lost funds in the trust wallet browser, you should find the link for the refund. I think it is already announced. So you can try finding in online and try to get refunded, it is own by Binance luckily so they have a huge liquidity for the lose for sure so everyone can still be happy and trust the platform after this incident.

There is little to zero need of asking what the warning means when it has already specifically stated on that message that your wallet might have been compromised and you need to uninstall the wallet, download a new wallet on a different but secured device and create a new address, them move your assets from the old wallet to the new one that you just created.

What that warning means in a simple term is that your address is not 100% safe and you could risk losing your coins if you don't act fast.

It’s possible that OP didn’t know beforehand that some other users had experienced issues when using Trust Wallet. That’s why OP created this thread to ask about a problem he just encountered with the wallet.

Right now, transferring BTC directly from that extension is quite risky.

I’d suggest not using the Trust Wallet browser extension to send BTC to another wallet. Instead, import the seed phrase from Trust Wallet into another wallet like Electrum. After that, send your BTC to a different Electrum address (with a new seed phrase), and avoid using the old Trust Wallet seed phrase again to prevent any unwanted issues.

And even exchanges are not also safe as they claim. So I will recommend that you should avoid to use trust wallet any more because they have shown that they are not safe. Trust wallet was compromised days ago if you followed news on social media and even in this forum, there are topics about this security accident of Trust wallet. The message is clear, but even you did not receive this message, you should be self aware of risk if you continue to use same Trust wallets created and used before the accident.

Create a new wallet and quickly move your fund to old wallets to new ones is a vital step to do.

Trust wallet got a serious accident in security, and I don't mind to use it after that. Even without this accident, you must know that Trust wallet is not a good one for using: it's close source that is never recommended for cryptocurrency users.

I think so, trustwallet has shown about their wallet security not safe yet after hacking of trustwallet extension and get possibility one day later with the application of trustwallet will get risk too. Still has enough time for OP moving assets from trustwallet app wallet to other wallet like electrum and recently I used it almost four years not get problem yet with my bitcoin assets.

I’d suggest not using the Trust Wallet browser extension to send BTC to another wallet. Instead, import the seed phrase from Trust Wallet into another wallet like Electrum. After that, send your BTC to a different Electrum address (with a new seed phrase), and avoid using the old Trust Wallet seed phrase again to prevent any unwanted issues.

Good ideas, never opening yet the trustwallet extension any more and paste seed phrase at other platform wallet then moving fund to electrum wallet. Bay the way the trustwallet official announced upgrade new version of trustwallet extension will still safe or not? the latest version of trustwallet extension already can't fix yet and they are recommending with new version have to use, have chance one day later the new version trustwallet extension get hack again?
