Hi everyone 👋

I would like to introduce a very young US-based project called UEX.US and open a transparent discussion around it.
UEX.US is an early-stage crypto exchange. The goal is to build slowly, stay compliant where required, and improve based on real user feedback.

What UEX.US currently offers

At the moment, the platform focuses on a small but functional set of features:
-> Spot trading on selected crypto assets
-> Crypto-backed loans (collateralized, no unsecured lending)
-> Savings accounts on certain assets
-> Fiat on-ramp and off-ramp (availability depends on region and payment method)

On-ramp & off-ramp
UEX.US currently supports:
Fiat deposits and withdrawals where available via Zelle, PayPal, credit cards, and wire transfers
Crypto deposits and withdrawals without unnecessary friction
Some fiat methods and limits are still being adjusted as we scale and work with providers. This is an area where feedback is especially useful.

Important notes
To be fully transparent:
The exchange is new
Liquidity is still growing
Not all features are available in all regions yet
This is not a finished product pretending to be one.

Why post on Bitcointalk?
This forum has some of the most experienced and skeptical users in crypto. That is exactly why we are posting here.
If something looks wrong, unclear, risky, or unnecessary, I would rather hear it early.
Critical feedback is welcome.
I also hope to see some Bitcointalk users among the users of our platform. I believe it is a simple and straightforward tool for exchanging Bitcoin.

Contact & feedback
If you have questions or suggestions:

Open a support ticket on UEX.US
Email: support@uex.us
Telegram: @UEX_ADMIN
X: https://x.com/uex_us

We are also open to audio or video calls if you are interested in discussing any features or providing feedback.
Thanks for reading.

From the website URL and also the terms looks like this is limited to only users in the U.S. is that the only plan to build on that user base or do would you be considering expanding to other countries? Also is there a reason that you're only permitted in 20 states out of the possible 50?

Building reputation as a new exchange is always the hardest part with the number of competition available. Having a cold storage fund (that can be verified) can help put users at some ease especially as you're offering loan options too.

You're going to need SEC approval for this project I believe since it will be offered to US customers. How is that going?

From the website URL and also the terms looks like this is limited to only users in the U.S. is that the only plan to build on that user base or do would you be considering expanding to other countries? Also is there a reason that you're only permitted in 20 states out of the possible 50?

Usually that's because the states themselves have their own regulations that restrict who can enter their markets by requiring lots of information. For example, New York requires some sort of complicated Bitlicense.

Hi there, great questions and appreciate you taking the time to look into the details.
UEX.US started with a U.S. focus mainly because of regulatory clarity, reliable banking/payments, and our goal to build a compliant, long-term product rather than chase short-term hype.
Regarding your points:
1) “Global Expansion?”
Yes, absolutely. The current focus is the U.S. user base because it aligns with our banking partners and compliance stack, but global onboarding is already on our roadmap. We are currently evaluating jurisdictions with clear VASP/Exchange licensing frameworks to avoid regulatory whiplash. EU, UAE, and several LATAM regions are being assessed first.
2) “Only 20 States — why?”
This comes down to U.S. regulatory fragmentation. Unlike many countries, the U.S. treats money transmission and digital assets at the state level. Some states require specific money transmitter licenses (MTLs), some have exemptions, and others have separate digital asset licensing (NY BitLicense is a good example).
We decided to open in states where we have a clear and lawful operating path, instead of cutting corners just to advertise “50 states.” We are actively expanding the list through direct licensing or through partnering with operators available in these states as we progress through the licensing process.
3) “Cold storage and user reassurance”
Good point. Transparency here is important for a new platform, so we’re currently working on adding publicly verifiable cold storage attestations and third party audit for peace of mind, especially for users utilizing lending/savings.
Building trust takes time, and we’re doing it step by step rather than rushing features we can’t stand behind.
Thanks again for the thoughtful feedback — it helps a lot.

Usually that's because the states themselves have their own regulations that restrict who can enter their markets by requiring lots of information. For example, New York requires some sort of complicated Bitlicense.
That feels like a very complicated process to get around for businesses. The silver lining might be that individual states have large economic value, more than you'll get in some countries.

3) “Cold storage and user reassurance”
Good point. Transparency here is important for a new platform, so we’re currently working on adding publicly verifiable cold storage attestations and third party audit for peace of mind, especially for users utilizing lending/savings.
That's a step in the right direction. I'll just want to point out that this should not just include user assets that are stored but liquidity that is stored to protect users' similar to what finance has with SAFU.
