Especially on Coinbase which malicious insider works are suspicious. The problem now is that most people are using the centralized exchanges. They have made using decentralized exchanges difficult in many countries with low trading volume just because they are going for centralized exchanges, this is very bad. People that come from United States, Europe spending Euro and Pounds may not know this yet.

Crypto gaining more popularity? It happens few times to get "assaulted/robbed" in Italy. No one cares about crypto...
These are really tiny numbers compared to 500millions of users... ok maybe we are not talking about dozens but in general I would not worred to much. Of course if these are in the same country (mostly yes they are) this doesn't sounds good at all...

About these specific cases.. You had also to consider that some of these crypto hodlers could share an expensive and lavish livestyle.
if you know how crypto works, probably is much more easy get few thousands of cash or a fancy watch, and not waste time by trying to extort a seed.

In any nation, privacy matters for everyone from security of their assets to their lives.

When you don't care about privacy, want to be famous especially with your wealth and luxurious life, your life will be in bigger danger. This is not just a Europe related concern, every one that's holding crypto should take this seriously because with the economy not doing so well, anyone that's doing well can be easily targeted and your asset can be forcefully collected from you. Except it's extremely neccesary, no one should know you're a long term holder of crypto or that you're holding crypto in the first place.

Even if the person you're sharing your crypto holding with is someone that's also holding crypto, it's best to expose little about the actually quantity of crypto you're holding. The heart of men is becoming more evil, you can't entrust a stranger with details that has the potential of endangering you.

honestly i have not heard much of bad people threatening around trying to steal crypto in my country and maybe that is because crypto is not as known yet in my country

the common criminals on the street probably won't know how crypto works but it may only be a matter of time before they learn how to do so better be safe now

We see a graph and a trend that skyrockets, and we forget to look at the magnitudes, so thank you both for the clarification. 60 attacks per year are anecdotical and aren't really an issue, even if some of them where fatal: they don't even reach five cases, and I think we have already read the news of some of them before in this forum, like the influencer son of a billionaire or something like that (I don't really pay too much attention to that type of news that does not provide any knowledge.)

I know stories of several people who paid dearly for being too talkative. Wanting to boost their own self-importance, they invented a story about owning Bitcoin, but they completely failed to realize that they could be met with surprises in the form of people wanting to take possession of their "fictional" Bitcoins. I say this every time the conversation turns to stories about finances. It's not for nothing that there's a saying: "Your tongue is your enemy." Even if you don't own cryptocurrency, be smarter and build your self-esteem in other ways. And those who own Bitcoin should be even more humble so that no one can cause you trouble.

I don't think wrench attacks are rising only for bitcoin holders, and we can see increase in similar attacks on people with wallets having fiat currencies.
I can only imagine what could happen if stupid governments forced more countries to switch to digital ID and cbdc crap, like they are planing.
People are literally going to kill someone just to get their phones with few digital euros., if cash is banned

The attack is somehow on a rise especially last year,  I even saw some news earlier on about the thieves invading the house of some people to steal their crypto violently. This is a call for everyone that own anything valuable not just cryptocurrencies, you should secure your valuables by limiting how you talk about it to other people, it’s hard to figure out whom will leak your information.

There will somehow always be crime but how you protect yourself from it is all that matters, choose privacy over unnecessary flaunt and bragging because most of this cases somehow came from people bragging about their portfolios.

Criminals still invades our home and cater away with electronics and money if they can get any but if they finally realised that something like Bitcoin is like a gold mine and people in the country are investing on them it will be bloody.

I have only read a kidnapped case where the adopters asked for Bitcoin in my country but since that time there is never any crypto related crime that goes live on the news, it is sad that this is the situation of the world right now where you have to work to become successful only to end up pretending like you have nothing.

We are advised to protect our wallets from attacks, but the real danger is you when you are offline, and you are not low-key; a wrench attack or similar attack is a growing trend; we have to restrain ourselves from telling about our assets because it's easy to steal all they need is your private keys, and they can steal your coins.

Most of all these attacks are as a result of carelessness on the part of the wallet owners; they can not just keep quiet about their assets, they show off, and most times, they just do it to convince others, but unknown to them, they are endangering themselves just to prove a point, and in the end, get themselves into trouble. At first why even bragging about your crypto portfolio? That's very childish, people with a lot of crypto (Bitcoin) in their portfolio don't even say much, so whey even brag about your bitcoin or how much you even buying.
You are right by the way, discipline is not just buying and holding, one should be even much more disciplined when it comes to how they talk because they way they can can either put them in serious bad situations or safe them (but it all depends on how they talk). Even if the person does not hold bitcoin is that if the person is rich then there's a chance that someone will try to rob that person and even if it's in cryptocurrency is that it's still the same. So, having your privacy is very important and shouldn't be taken lightly. A person should be as private as possible to avoid some attacks either attacks you mentioned or different type of attacks. If you make some research then you will find some influencers that they are robbed due to being exposed in public about owning bitcoin.

As much as I am trying to advise that people do not talk publicly about their Wealth, I do not know if this is only placebo but it seems to me that more and more people are bragging on the Internet about it or posting all day long about Bitcoin from their personal accounts.  Privacy is decreasing, stupidity is rising to All Time Highs these days.  When people will realize Privacy is important, it will be too late because they will have already given it all away it seems.
