Is Thread Quality Falling?

Yeah I know understand how we say quality is subjective but there's some level of objectivity
I realized since last month or some weeks
The threads relative quality has fallen
Especially in the Bitcoin Discussion board (don't frequent beginners and help that much anymore)


Is it that there's nothing interesting happening anymore or I'm the one that needs to stop taking coffee. .if not the above what could be the problem? Leaning towards the former though.



Don't take it the wrong way, I'm not saying there's no Good thread
Just that it's getting rarer than normal.

Yet another quality post query, can I still say that quality post is subjective, personally I think it still depends on you but generally you are right there have been nothing interesting actually happening around bitcoin to actually call for quality post.

The board in question (bitcoin discussion) has long been fading away from quality threads for a long time now, just some random bitcoin news been recycled. As for the general Board even though they have been reduction I have actually had a good read on some quality threads of recent.

I thought you were referring to the writing quality initially, I would have said the forum remains what it used to be, IMO, as the moderators are trying their best.

As it is now, your concern is not new on the forum. But I wonder if you guys asking this question have made the efforts to spice things up before asking. That said, new and exciting happenings around Bitcoin have a long way to go in this. Are there any recently?

It is how it used to be, bitcoin discussion had been worse in the past with the same repetitive threads but now it is much more better. I am sure if you keep looking or read more then you might feel there are some that can be worth engaging and if not why not just go and create one.

This is not true as long as some of us have a fast response to post a reply on new threads that has been discussed about before. This is common on this forum, but more than 95% of the threads are reports on the first post that similar thread is existing and the link to the first thread is there.

If you accused gambling boards of recycled discussions, that is true but not on other boards like bitcoin discussion.

Maybe you should stop taking the particular coffee brand, try to frequent in some other boards. We still have some new and old members who post quality from time to time. Speaking of recent happenings on BTC, bitcoin core has been the lastest discussion, maybe you should get into discussing on some of the thread already created on it. It's still a fresh year and as time goes on events happening in the crypto would would kick in some interesting discussions..

It varies a lot over time. There are days or weeks in which I can find barely anything interesting to read let alone something that is worth writing a response to. In the recent days it was again like this, I have noticed it as well.

What you wrote is not correct. Most of the posts and threads in Bitcoin Discussion are recycled too. There are hundreds of threads just about quantum computers by idiots who know nothing and should not even bother themselves with such advanced topics. Most of the threads are rehashed versions of existing discussions, or they are going on for too long where most users are just rewriting generic junk that was already posted by someone else.

Maybe you should stop taking the particular coffee brand, try to frequent in some other boards.

Which boards would be that? Economics? Speculation? Gambling Discussion? The situation in all of those is so much worse than in Bitcoin Discussion. Having a few exceptional threads does not change the fact that complete shit threads and posts are the normal.

Quantum computers are frequently discussed on the news and on other online platforms, that is the reason some people will think of posting about it on this forum as they think it is a threat to bitcoin existence.

Expect hot news or something hot online like quantum computers to be frequently discussed on this forum. The ones that is worth referring to old discussions, the old threads are still referred to.

Only where I see unnecessary repeated discussions is still the gambling boards.

This is not a justification for this behavior. Most posts are generic, by users who don't understand anything and rush to open a thread because of a headline. They do this because they are spammers, not because they want to or because they can discuss this topic. This example is great because 99.99% of the users of this forum should not speak a word about this topic.

What do you mean "aside that"? Which boards? This is happening almost everywhere where there is significant activity, it is just a question of the actual ranking of how bad the things are. Probably I would rank it like this using the boards that I check the most:

1. Gambling Discussion.
2. Speculation.
3. Economics.
4. Bitcoin Discussion.

Just because it is ranked number 4, that does not mean that the situation isn't very bad over there. Example topics that have been rehashed countless times some even thousands of times, just from the first page:

• Will you still hold?
• Are people still doubting Bitcoin.
• Is holding Bitcoin harder financially or psychologically?

Just because a thread may include a piece of recent news or a new tweet, that does not mean that the topic is not rehashed. This is a method that gives the thread a bit more credibility to the naive and is often done by spammers. Don't tell me that it isn't happening when even the first page is proof that it is happening.

Okay, accepted. Anytime I see similar topics, I always report the new similar ones. It will be good if you and other reputed posters are doing the same.

I do not report some posts if the user lock it as I always advised, but if not locked and I report it, moderators always delete it. But that of quantum computer, moderators might not delete it.

Maybe. However, in comparison to our 'competitors' i.e social media. I'd say we're still a lot better for lengthy in depth discussions. I don't think there's anywhere else that offers the same level of depth. So, while it might be declining I still think its better than all the alternatives.

I can't agree more, because it is a subjective thing and for some it can be good and for other the quality might be bad, but one thing I am sure we all will agree on is that section is really full of newbies and repetitive questions and information and still we all don't stop participating in them because we love to discuss them again and again haha.

And somehow every time we learn something new, I don't know about others, but sometimes I do.

People share good topics and some share repetitive topics, it is upto us what kind of topic we want to reply to that we think is worth our time and interesting for discussion.

We can blame the board for increased or reduces availability of interactive threads and topics, the truth is that this Forum is a small place and most times the most interesting topics have been treated already unless just some random news on crypto that make headlines for a short period of time then get faded, this is the reason why most recent topics have no interest or long term existence and presence.

I hope you know that we have more of repeated discussions on the forum if you go down the memory lane of some boards? Even before I join the forum or you as well it has been a regular behaviour of users to recreate topics about old discussions, update it with some latest happenings.. that doesn't mean it's created by spammers. I've seen external visitors sometimes registering account to ask questions that had been answered years ago and it will strike a New discussions. That doesn't make anyone a spammer.

I'll agree with you on the matter of the gambling board ranking as the first because majority of users are made to post on the gambling board due to their signature campaign requirements. And some people here on the forum are real lovers of gambling and sports, so they have little interest on bitcoin discussion and other related, that doesn't make them spammers as well..

That board has been a shithole for as long as I can remember. It shouldn't be, it should be one of the best boards we have, but it isn't.
I'm more concerned that even Meta gets more and more shitposters (and I don't mean you) with gambling signature trying to earn Merit and reach their post quota.

Lol... Even this op has been discussed multiple times by countless members over the last couple years. The thing is those that have been around long enough can actually tell the drop in organicity of posts but then again the whole stuff is like a cycle just like bitcoin has its cycle too.

As more knowledgeable members leave over time we get substitutes too the only difference is more spam posts make the decent ones kinda buried. There are still decent posts on the forum only they are a little less easy to come by depending on the board.

The thing is Bitcoin Discussion board is one of my favorite but realise now I'm spending more time in the economic board
And I wasn't talking about quality post I'm talking about threads

What do you expect lol.... This forum has been around for over a decade and considering how many posts we have per day across the forum, you should expect discussions to run out hence repetitions. Arguably, there's no way you could discuss something new every single time about bitcoin for an entire decade considering the post count on the forum.

Spamming is inevitable it's why we have moderators and everyone has a role to play too so long you have the report to moderator button. I'm doing as much as I can to report low quality posts most times I think more users should do too.

When you see posts like Bitcoin price and speculation, biggest mistake I made with Bitcoin, where Bitcoin will be in the next year, your Bitcoin new year resolution and many more, these are the kind of posts that get engagement most of the time, no disrespect but Bitcoin discussion is full of spam.

The number of locked topics moved to achieve were high in numbers which shows he was active but he has lay low again, he may have his reasons but we have more low quality threads on that board now.

The mod is still working well and while the Beginners and Help board can be tiring for me, it is also from the fact that I spent a long time on the board before and I got tired of speaking of some certain things continually or as at now.

I won't want to call some of them spammers especially some of the newbies in this regard because some might just be ignorant and don't also ignore the fact that not all article or blog post especially relating to cryptocurrency are sensible or true like Cointelegraph and that might just be where they get their advise, but to be honest, the quantum computing threat on Bitcoin is pretty much tiring, speaking as if quantum computing is the end of Bitcoin.
