All that matters these days is who's got the money, power or authority. Nothing else matters. Values don't mean anything.
What a poor life is that. What do you do at night when alone with your thoughts, how many days will you last till madness?
Why would you say so? Whatever he said is unfortunately the reality of the world we live in today, and every person with a clear vision, an uncontrolled mindset, and the ability to comprehend and accept reality when they see it should be able to see this happening around them. Of course, if you are someone who has money, power, and authority, you might not be among those who can see these things in society, but if you are not, you will probably see what is happening with those who don't have these things by those who have them.

It is harsh, but it is true. Values mean nothing for the majority in this world anymore, people are ready to do anything only to make money, they can even kill others, and not only others, those who are the closest to them, for what? Money and power, and of course, they both come together because those who have money have the power with them as well. If you are poor, you have nothing at all, you are not even considered anything by others around you who are not at the same standard as you.

The world is starting to become the worst place over time, not for everyone, though, but just for those who don't have money and power.

Very obvious matter rolling in every street in every nation. Very discouraging how you can even be trampled upon by the people you are standing for in some of the situations of keeping a good name. Painful how religions that is supposed to catapult balanced society are propagators of imbalance openly or silently. Good name isn't necessarily self-righteousness because laws exists and keeping to it is also a good name but it is clear what it is about the law mostly in those nations where it's obvious the level of lawlessness.
You know what's funny? It's how even bad names wants good names around them, that's they want loyal and honest people to work with even in their bad names. This clearly implies that good name, that's abiding by society balance not necessarily self-righteousness can't be nonsense even if the hand is empty. Even people who don't care about it, people who just want the cash all wants good names directly and indirectly.

Having a good name and having empty hand I think are two different things because having good name doesn't mean you will have empty hand and having empty hand doesn't mean you have good name.

All that matters these days is who's got the money, power or authority. Nothing else matters. Values don't mean anything. There is no line people cant cross for what they want. People have no principles or guidelines anymore.
But I don't believe you have to be just like them to survive in this world. You can have values and principles and lines you cant cross and still be successful in that field. You may not be as successful as they are, but you're not in a competition with them.
Money and power rules the world bro, if you're not flexible at all, you risk being sidelined or at worst wiped out and replaced with who is willing to play the game better. Still, you don't totally have to sell your conscience to be relevant, you can do what you can and yet not stand in the way of powerful people when they do their shits. It is hard for people who are rigid with discipline to climb to the top and worse for people who compromise very easily because they just serve as puppets, you should have a blend of the two, not too rigid, and uphold principles when it is very necessary. You must not fight powerful people because of your values and principles, there is a level of compromise that becomes necessary most times, else you would be left behind when the ship is sailing to a different course.

Quote
My country had an election where the sitting candidate lost, and people expected him to fight because it was assumed that the election was rigged, but he didn't fight; he gently stepped down, and till this day, people call him weak, but not to me. There would have been so much bloodshed of innocence if he had decided to fight, and he doesn't want that on his conscience, and that is something I can respect, especially from a politician. He moved on to better things today simply because he held on to his values and never crossed the line he set for himself.
So we don't need to be the way society or the world sets for us, we can be different.
The sitting president gave up his seat willingly, he didn't loose. If he wanted to win, he would've changed the INEC chairman which was obviously working against him even before the election. I would say he didn't want to continue, he got tired of the pressure from the Presidential seat. If he really wanted to fight for his position, he would have done that long before the elections was held.

The moral capital that they'd built for generations couldn't pay salaries or fund operations. It just evaporated.
Here's an important distinction, moral reputation is not a substitute for money in itself but it serves as a basis for raising money. If the priorities of funders change, even the most respected institutions can face financial difficulties.  So it's more reasonable to call this a failure of moral capital than a result of a change in funding sources.

Quote
The second someone says your reputation isn't worth anything to them, it is worthless.
It's not always so final. One person or institution may not value your reputation, but someone else might, the biggest advantage of a good reputation is that it increases the likelihood of creating new relationships and opportunities. It's value does not disappear overnight, although its impact can be more or less depending on time and circumstances.

Having a good reputation doesn’t come with money, we all know that. But, it’s better to have a good reputation than doing bad things just to get money. Because if you are really destined to be rich in life having a good reputation can be the reason to make it. For example, an organisation wants to bring a development in the community and you are the one with the best reputation that they can trust with the project as a supervisor, you see you can get some income through there, most expecially if the project it a building project, but if you have a bad reputation and have money there are many things money can’t buy. And people can still deny your for some certain things because of your bad reputation, that is just it.
