Airtel network now open banned centralized exchanges on web browser.

I have noticed since last week, my airtel network do open some particular centralized exchanges that are unaccessible on the web back then, the exchange apps work perfectly but they don't work on web. However, I noticed that exchanges like Binance, Bybit, Gate and Bingx work when I opened them on my browser. Although, there are some that are yet to open like Kucoin, OKX and Coinbase, I'm not sure if this is done voluntarily or the airtel as internet service provider allow this on purpose.




I'm also curious why now, could this be because of the tax and the government want to observe crypto activities or there is more to this? Could this be that the government is trying it be relax on the ban. I just think the government will not allow something to exist without a purpose, they are very good with this.

I quickly rushed to check some exchanges on my chrome browser using MTN network, all of them loaded. This could only mean one thing, the government has set the exchanges free from the ISP blockade. Who cares about the government who couldn't block the app but blocked the browser? This is not a win for the Nigerian government but a win for the exchange that didn't bend the knee throughout the fight.

Tinubu's administration is desperate. Expect the Nigerian government to be gentle and to liase with the exchanges to get them to cooperate. They will use this opportunity to look for ways to effectively tax Nigerian dealing in cryptocurrency from 2026. This can only be the reason for the sudden move.

None that I tried are working on my device on my MTN expect Gate. Gate was working before during the ban and I am very certain about it. Also BitMez was working during the ban and I am also very certain about it. These are the two exchanges on the web that I know that are only still working on my devices. Web link for Binance, Bybit, Mexc and Kucoin all did not work on my device till now.

Bybit did not open on mine, I use Airtel and initially thought it had to be my network but every other thing is open just fine, although I haven’t tried out other centralized exchange to confirm.
Honestly this doesn’t mean much to me because their apps are accessible and anyone can use it.
Also you are exposed to more risk using exchanges on browsers.

Some people like to access the exchanges on computer but many of the exchanges do not have apps for computers, they have apps mostly for Android and iOS. But that does not change the fact that you are right, accessing exchanges on the app is generally better and safer for security reasons, although accessing the exchange through the browser can be better for privacy reason if the person knows what he is doing.

I can confirm accessing BYBIT on my browser using both MTN and AIRTEL service providers. Unfortunately, the other exchanges I tried (KUCOIN, OKX, Binance) could be accessible using MTN and Airtel service providers.

Screen resolution is another good reason why most traders will prefer accessing the exchanges on browsers using their PC. Nothing feels better than seeing those large candles. Only those using exchanges for regular simple buy/sell orders and P2P are much more comfortable using the mobile app.

There was actually a time I wanted to get the Binance API for a trading app, but I couldn't do it with the app; it must be from the web. I think that issue should have been sorted out by now. There are many more advantages of the web version than the mobile app.

Funny enough, most people dont even know the mobile app is actually a mobile view of a web version integrated that way. Similar to what Youtube did.

This is serious, they possibly purposely did it to appear that way and apply it differently with different devices. I rushed again to check Binance and Bybit websites on my phone using Chrome browser after reading your post, all are working perfectly on my phone. To further check it, I proceeded to try it on my laptop using the same Chrome browser, but none of them loaded.

In a situation like this, there are possible explanations: the ISP blocking and unblocking doesn't apply in a uniform fashion. I think they did it that way to test something because they weren't working before on my phone. Because we are using different gadgets, the different network paths or DNS resolvers could be the cause.

After the ban I noticed that Bybit hasn't worked for me opened for my browser, but I checked the after seeing this post and tried these two reputable exchange, and on the Bybit, it worked on with chrome browser, But Binance couldn't open for me, I also used Airtel network the op used as my network browser, for Binance it only showed me a white blank page.

No it is not, there is something like that though which is progressive web app and it sits like an icon on your mobile device but when clicked it works with the browser technology. These kind of apps can not be installed in your mobile phones since they are not native apps.

Mobile apps, such that are downloaded over stores does not work with browser technology but native OS technology and does not use the browser in its propagation, they are compiled differently to work with either android technology or iOS technology as the case may be and that is why you cannot install an IOS app in an android phone. They are compatible with the operating system it is produced for and can be installed in it

a simple example is React and React Native. React is used to build web applications while the latter is for native applications.

I think the banned has long been shifted.. just that these network providers are slow to implement, just like when twitter was banned then and we had to use VPN.. even after the ban it still took a while before we could access it without vpn.. welline has been working for some time, okx and finance has been accessable. For exchanges, I just prefer using apps and I haven't encountered any problem with the apps even when the ban existed.

They cannot be responsible because the inaccessible exchange on browser might not be caused by the government but the exchange owners because there is what they also get from there functioning app but to get everybody on the app is making the web inaccessible and after then I don't even like the web much so after few times I stop trying to use the web, until now your own browser is opening it, although is still inaccessible to me so the exchange are not actually ready using web browser, almost all the exchange started stopping using browser at the same time.

There has been a strong speculation on this matter, many arguing it to be done on purpose while others are saying that it is a new government policy. In all, the experience seems to be true and verifiable fact that Airtel Network now open banned centralized exchanges on web browser but as to whether it is on purpose or a new government policy, we are yet to know and our prayers is that may every decision the government takes favor all crypto lovers and investors.
