That is the problem of Nigeria, when someone refuses to go against there wicked footsteps they tag him bad and do everything humanly possible to make sure his good works never come to manifestation. Since he took over power in rivers state he has not experienced peace all because he refused to go in accordance to wike's evil plans. How do you expect a serving governor to share the states capital with an ex governor because that was there initial arrangement.
On this current matter is don't see it coming to reality this time, they may have succeeded in there first plans which is state of emergency but this impeachment plans can't come to manifestation.

The impeached plot to remove governor Fubara is a big shame to Nigerian democracy. I wonder why this people don't want this country to be a better place for the citizens. I am from Rivers state and I have seen the good works that the governor have been doing, but the so called Wike assembly members will not let this man govern the state in peace. I don't understand the base of the impeachment,  but I am sure it will not stand. The governor is wise enough to defect to the APC which will definitely giving him backing from the president. I am not saying that APC is a good party, but I think Fubara is a good person and deserves to be the governor of the state,  so I will be glad if he is backed by the presidency and stop the impeachment plot.

Sim fubara the Governor is giving Wike more power to ridicule him, in Nigeria politics you don't have to be gentle fight or be gone. Sim has endured these people too much excesses and they are taken him for granted. The impeachment move is for their selfish interest and not for the state. This is totally condemnable and wrong, why would they want to impeached their co- member and leader of their party in Rivers State, whether they like it or not Sim Fubara has automatically turned to the leader of APC in Rivers State upon his defection, what the Rivers State house of Assembly is doing is nonsense, they are only dancing to the others of their pay Master which is the FCT Minister Nyesom Wike.

The dishonorable House of Assembly member said they have served the notice of impeachment to the governor and deputy. We are waiting for the governor's response. After that, a seven-man committee headed by the chief judge will look at the allegation of misconduct and also check the governor's response to ascertain if there is any legal basis for his impeachment. If there is none, SIM would continue governance and if he is found guilty, bye, bye to him. 

Another alternative is the political solution, which the lawmakers have pushed aside. The speaker even vowed to resign if the governor is not impeached. I dont know the force in APC high achelon that is backing SIM. I heard that Hope Uzodinma the chairman of the APC governors forum is solidly behind the governor. Everybody is waiting to hear from the presidency, APC governors group or the APC national.

I don’t think it will be that easy to happen like you are saying it , I know that all these things that are happening is as a result of Fubara trying to gain his political power freedom from wike and wike does not want that to happen, he still want to have full control over the political space over the state level but fubara thinks it is time he should collect his freedom now. It’s not going to be easy for both parties because Wike is not going to allow that to happen and fubara coming back to APC makes it more interesting because he will still get the support of the presidency for doing that so wike can’t easily boss fubara out of the government

That's Nigeria for you bro always chasing cloud at a very crucial time of attending to more important issues, however the issue of the seating governor and the fct Minister has always  proven that a wicked and a greedy person is always unsatisfied no matter the amount of money or power he acquired. However I see no reason why the fct Minister Wike is still punk nosing into the River State affairs instead of allowing the present governor to do his work independently while he face his own work as a Minister.

It was yesterday evening I saw the news headlines and I laughed over it because all things latest happening in the River State house of assembly are all engineered by the fct Minister  all because the governor similareye has refused to bend for his selfish demands and I doubt how this whole conspiracy and set up will work because the River State people aren't going to fold their hands this time and watch this evil take hold in our state.

Just yesterday being 8th of January 2026, the Rivers state house of assembly led by Hon. Martins Amaewhule began the impeachment process of the Rivers state governor, his Excellency Governor SIM Fubara. The funny aspect of this is that this is not the first time nor the second time but the third time of this kind of gathering with the same objective of booting the governor and his deputy out of office.

The first time they tried to impeach him was in October 30th 2023, it failed.
The second time was in March 17th 2025 and it failed again before President Tinubu suspended Fubara and dissolved the assembly for 6 months thereby creating room for state of emergency. By contrast, Governor SIM is the only governor in the federation to have faced 3 different impeachment plans in one tenure and his still in office.
I'm sure the major reason to this impeachment is mainly because the governor has refused to pass the 2026 budget, at least that's what they are saying officially but we know they want him out and not because of budget or gross misconduct. Has the assembly forgotten that just last month, the governor wrote that the assembly of his coming to submit a sublimentry budget but the house of assembly said they were closed untill 26th of January 2026, only to call for an emergency meeting few days later accusing the governor of not wanting to comply, lol. How are they so quick to forget that on July 22nd 2025, Ibas who was appointed by President Tinubu as the Sole administrator of Rivers state during the Emergency rule submitted a budget to the National Assembly and Senate president Goodwill Akpabio and his members passed into law the sun of 1.48 trillion naira as Rivers state budget for the fiscal year, any one with brain will know that a fiscal year runs for a complete year and by so, the Rivers state governor can still claim to be using that budget passed by the National Assembly till July of this very year. They also forget that the constitution still provides room for the government not just Rivers state alone but any government in the federation to use money from the treasury without submitting budget for at least 6 months. They should have known better. An impeachment follows a process and we will be watching as it's unfolding.

The law makers are not greedy and selfish because they are not working on their own rights but working under the commands of Wike who still wants to take full control of the resources of Rivers State leaving Sim Fubara to just be bearing the name Governor without being in charge of power, sometimes ago Wike said he made a mistake by making Sim Fubara a Governor of the state and that he will correct the mistake so I believe this is why the house of assembly has served the governor an impeachment notice.


However, I don't think it can work this time  because the governor has already defected and in the same party with the law makers. If the worse come to pass the president will call a round table meeting with them and the issue will be resolved, Wike wants to scatter APC just the way he did in PDP so the leaders in APC should call him to order before he destroys it, I just hope the chief judge shouldn't be bought over by Wike, if he is with Sim as you said then there's no cause for alarm, as he only can make the impeachment stand by appending his signature.

Impeachment has nothing to do with party, APC or PDP is not a factor when it comes to impeachment, what they look at is the governor’s actions and its correlation with the law, is he by any means bridging the law? and to what extent? This are key factors to be considered in every impeachment case.

The assembly plays a role of checks and balances, they ensure every action by the governor is in accordance to the rule of law, that is why most governors don’t joke with their assembly members, in Fubara case right from the onset he hasn’t been in synergy with his assembly members  which is the key reason he has had it tough during his own administration, first he wanted to change the elected speaker of the house of assembly, after which when tension increased he then paid someone to burn the assembly of which a key government official came up and testified to, he also went behind without going through due process to conduct an election without proper approval from the authorities, he also suspended them, they are even saying some of their salaries are owed, even up till now he is even yet to show his 2026 budget, so u see the governor doesn’t regard his assembly members and you don’t expect them to regard him too.

The political tussle in Rivers is currently fierce, i think Mr president should come in at this point before it escalates again, Fubara on the other hand should ensure to keep his house in other and always go through due process to prevent unnecessary tension in the state, Rivers state is not the first state with such crises but other governors always find ways to resolve, so let the governor do same and ease the undue rest in the state.

You are very correct actually you are right but what you should know is that which budget will he submit because right from upset you can check very well that fubara was not on seat for 6 months now which budget is it going to tender because someone who is done ,the budget is a very serious issues for him,just as you have said,let the president call them a table meeting,so they can resolve this issue on time , before it gets out of hand.
