Memecoins or prediction markets?

In recent days, I've been thinking about two interesting phenomena emerging in the crypto space: memecoins and prediction markets.

In my perspective, they share a fundamental similarity: they capitalize on the momentum of unique events, whether cultural, political, sporting, or viral moments, often exploiting tragic events to create value, liquidity, and community participation.

Now we have two instrument options that offer the potential for quick profits from emerging trends, and both build communities that feel part of a "movement" or narrative. Which one do you think is worth risking your money on?

For someone that is just starting their journey to chasing after financial freedom and ways to accumulate wealth and perhaps if the person is in their early 20s, and they come across poll, prediction market and memecoin is not a form of investment that is worth risking your money on (I'm speaking for a starter who has not yet got anything sustainable in life). Instead of dealing with altcoins ans prediction market, let the person starts investing on Bitcoin since they are still young, if the person is still 20 years old and they start buying Bitcoin until they are 30 or 40 years old, that's a difference of 10 or 20 years, they will gain more that what would have come out of investing on meme coins or prediction market.

But if I'm to chose what I will prefer to risk my money on among the two, I will go for meme coin because I will do analysis and buy the coins that I think will pump before it dumps, if I was not lucky at all to see a pump before the coins starts dumping, I will cut the trade and accept my lose.

In prediction market, analysis can be wrong more than in meme coins.

I think the prediction market is worth betting on instead of memecoins, honestly I'm sick of Memecoins which always end up with rugpull. Lol

I don't mind losing bets in the prediction market, which ends up winning or losing.

Memecoin --- I know many people consider it like betting too, it's just that for me it hurts to buy memecoins that end up losing due to liquidity being pulled by Dev like we are being cheated.

Memecoins and predictions market, what a combination for comparison, the main reason for this comparison is because of the nature of events that determine the outcome of the realities, but even for that we can compare memecoins which are cryptocurrency to predictions market that are service providers, what are we going to be basing the comparison on in the first place?

I have not gone for any bet on prediction markets before, even the sports that are there and other predictions, I have not bet on any before, but I have gone for meme coins before. I was lucky with few meme coins and I lost on other meme coins. Meme coins are gambling while prediction markets are gambling also, although some people see it as trading. As for me I will go for the two but I will use the money that I can afford to lose on both.

Currently the prediction market has become so big that even memecoins are going to be hiding their faces for now until their is a little reductions in prediction market but to be straightforward enough I'm going to be more into predicton market, recently someone made a huge amount from it they had caused chaos in the country, people saying he had an inside information which investions has not proven that right so if you can be early or under the industry and place a bet on it life changing amount can beade but for memecoins we have more of scams today.

For me, it's prediction markets. Its closely related to the type of gambling and risk taking that I do whenever I goto my favorite sportsbooks like Coinroyale to bet. Heck, prediction markets literally have sports events available as one of the markets that users can bet on among other interesting markets. For Memecoins, it can be —EV from especially if you're not part of any insider or early CA groups. You will be an exit liquidity 9/10 times on memecoins.

The speculative part of meme coins isn't actually the price, but when LPs will withdraw their liquidity. Like gambling, profits are just a bonus; the rest is just for fun with the ups and downs of the charts. lol

Perhaps I should clarify that prediction markets issue tradable "event shares." I'm just using the more commonly known term, it's that simple.

It's worth to bet on meme coin instead of market prediction. The reason is clear, there is legit meme coin that exist in the market. We can acquire it through spot market, and even when we're suffering the impermanent lose due to the dump, it can comeback up anytime depending on the trend.

Meanwhile, in prediction market, you lose when you make a mistake. It's also fully manipulated, and there are too many insiders trade there. Be a wise.

He is referring to buying and selling of meme coins. Meme coins are very volatile and risky and some people will think of them as gambling or betting. The very high risks design of meme coins and predictions markets is the reason the OP of this thread want people to compare both of them.

Prediction markets are clearly more viable because they are historically proven and cannot be easily changed. This means that prediction results are based on real evidence. Therefore there is a fundamental difference in the final results, they may appear similar, but they are not. If you're curious, try betting on prediction markets directly to understand how they work.

In my own opinion they are different. Memecoins are just relying on pure hype. We are trying to gamble on its hype cycle not on its certain fundamentals. They can possibly give us those quick huge results, but their collapse is fast than what we can't imagine.

Prediction market usually come ups with real world situations results. This option is somehow risky, but we could see how they set up the odds is measured by certain events happening.

If I am the one place some money, I'd provably choose the prediction market over memecoin investment. Since in meme coin its like are trying to hit some jackpots on more riskier situations. While in prediction market there are data available on which it can possibly help us to win.

The only relationship that the two of them share is "uncertainty in results," Apart from that, I don't really think we should compare both activities. In Prediction market, you are putting your money at stake, it betting and you can not consider it as an investment but memecoina can be considered an investment by most people. Despite the saying that altcoins in another form of gambling, that's not like gambling directly where you can use the word wagering. I have tried some memecoins like doge coins and I made profit but there are many of them that I also lost my money on, the scenario of losses I experienced with those token is not the same as to when I bet on sports game which already serves as example of what prediction market looked like.

In my opinion it is better to bet on prediction markets, like those available on Polymarket than just jumping on memecoins and burn money on a market full with scams and shady developers.
At least, with prediction markets there are trustworthy arbiters which will give you your money in the case of correctly guessing what was going to happen, with memecoins you are basically giving your money away to player who have more influence on your market than you, in the worst case scenario it's just giving money to scammers and criminals.

Since you want to go into pure gambling, it's better I go for prediction market than buying memecoins because the stress and all that about memecoins is not worth it. You might end up losing those coims unknowingly to you because of rug pulling. It's better I know that I'm gambling and threat it like gambling. Do you think that memecoins are outside of prediction markets? If so, i hate to break it to you, but it's nearly all just memecoins here.

People who think that they are building something important, are part of the same game. One day trend just gets them for the same reason they are buying memecoins. Because they are speculating that it's undervalued and goes up.

I would argue that some "real" cryptos are even worse then memecoins, as they are selling snake oil and they are not honest about it. Memecoins are just what they are, nonsense and not trying to be anything else.
