Fubara started having challenges as a governor the moment he began to misunderstanding with the FCT minister Nyesom Wike and this was obviously as a result of Fubara failing to give him his own percentage from the state allocation or revenue.
You're very right about the origin of his problem but then there's no concrete evidence to establish that the minister is actually demanding a percentage of the state allocation and this makes the point null and void and inadmissible anywhere. Other analyst still said that the problem is originally from the reconciliation of the governor with Wike's political enemies which he (Wike) actually made while trying to put the current governor into power against those people's wish. This point for me could be seen as a betrayal of which humanly speaking (if it's true) could spur anyone to fight anybody tooth and nail. However this is a state affair and the peace of the state shouldn't be traded for personal interests.
To me, Fubara has not done anything wrong and does not deserve impeachment. Since he assumed the seat of a governor, he has been doing well, paying of debts owed by the previous government, gave civil servants promotion, increased their salary, paying them as at when due and even taking care of retirees, I mean Fubara is doing very well as a governor.
I agree with you because I can only say that the two parties involved have only turned personal disputes into political war and this is not the best. Wike is really taking things too far and undermines the good of the people they're ruling. I wish Fubara the best as the 7 days waiting period keeps ticking. The Pan-Niger Delta Forum, PANDEF, the apex socio-political body of the South-South geo-political zone, inaugurated a seven-member peace and reconciliation committee, chaired by former Attorney-General of the Federation, Chief Kanu Agabi, SAN, with a two-week ultimatum to resolve the standoff between the governor and the legislators
source and this has also contributed to the delay in handing him over the impeachment notice. It's a political anyway and a struggle to get one party to dance to the tune of another. From all indications, Fubara will survive this period but I doubt if he can make it to his second term.
Presently, Fubara has joined APC as a result of the pressure he faced from Wike and he is now in alliance with the Nigerian president, Bola Ahmed Tinubu. I think impeaching Fubara will be a difficult task since he is working with the power that be, the Nigerian president.
Yeah, I think decamping to APC could have been among the options he had in order to be recalled after his suspension. This is getting crazy though of which politicians play their game so well. The APC has used Wike to lure him into the APC because the party has been much interested in taking over rivers state and Tinubu is also a good player. All the process is expected to be halted until the president returns from Abu Dhabi to give his verdict and probably, he could survive at last due to the power that be (APC).
