Exactly 17 years ago today, Hal Finney made the very first tweet in history about Bitcoin. At that time, Bitcoin was nothing more than an experimental idea. there was no price,no market, and no crowd of investors. Hal Finney was a renowned cryptographer and one of the earliest developers of Bitcoin. He was also the first person to receive a Bitcoin transaction from Satoshi Nakamoto. His historic tweet was incredibly simple: “Running Bitcoin.” Yet today, that short sentence reminds us of something profound— the trillion-dollar crypto industry began with nothing more than belief and technological curiosity. This moment teaches us that: Great change doesn’t happen overnight The future is shaped by those who see potential before others do In the history of technology, belief is the greatest investment Bitcoin is not just a digital currency it is a movement, one whose seed was planted 17 years ago through a quiet, unassuming tweet.

Are you sure that nobody else tweeted about Bitcoin before Hal Finney? At that time, Bitcoin was nothing more than an experimental idea.
It was an experiemental idea when it was discussed in a small groups of developers ak Cypherpunks. After Bitcoin blockchain was actually launched with a Bitcoin Genesis Block mined by Satoshi Nakamoto, it was no longer an experimental idea. You can learn more about it with Satoshi Nakamoto Institute and the Complete Satoshi resources. Including this one for discussions through emails. https://satoshi.nakamotoinstitute.org/emails/

Are you sure that nobody else tweeted about Bitcoin before Hal Finney? Considering Twitter (now X) was created on 2006 and won breakout of the year award on 2009 [1], it’s safe to assume that a tweet from 2009 would be the first one to be about bitcoin. But it doesn’t mean the concept of bitcoin only started on the creation of the tweet. Concept of Bitcoin or cryptocurrency have been circulating around groups and forums but a proper paper came from Wei Dai in 1998. He wrote an essay about the B-money which had the basic concept of bitcoin. [2]Dai described B-money as "... a scheme for a group of untraceable digital pseudonyms to pay each other with money and to enforce contracts amongst themselves without outside help." source: [1] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twitter[2] https://www.investopedia.com/terms/b/bmoney.asp

It’s a good reminder that most important innovations start quietly. No hype, no price discussions, just people experimenting and building because they believe in the idea. Hal Finney’s “Running Bitcoin” still captures that early spirit better than any chart or headline today.

This is to tell you that Bitcoin didn’t start with hype or price talk. It started with curiosity, experimentation and belief in an idea that most people ignored initially. That quiet beginning is probably why Bitcoin’s foundation is so strong today. Real innovation rarely announces itself loudly at first.

Many speculated Bitcoin to be a failed idea, but the mathematical schematics played out just about right with the halving events and there came the age of AI inclusivity and Creation of spot ETF for large pocket and institutional investors. So many critics became investors and that means scarcity, even with strategic reserve banks just for Bitcoin and other digital assets, we see revenue from regulated services which help Bitcoin function both as a currency and an asset in place to put a shine on and profit from this one simple idea that came to be, 17years ago. It is indeed a milestone achievement for Bitcoin and am glad to be part of it in this century or wars, chaos and political upheavals.

Just in context, here is the tweet for everyone who might not seen it: https://x.com/halfin/status/1110302988And this is the first known Tweet about Bitcoin and so this is really historic. We also have the thread: Bitcoin and me (Hal Finney).

I am new to Bitcointalk and still learning about Bitcoin. Reading about early contributors like Hal Finney makes me realize how important belief and curiosity were in the early days. I would like to learn more about how the community viewed Bitcoin at that time.

Well, they knew they have created something good, but they were definitely not sure whether the world will like it or not, because they knew that the world isn't always ready to accept changes, especially when a change directly challenges the powers that control everything. Bitcoin was basically a challenge against traditional financial systems, because it promoted privacy and anonymity, and allowed people to be their own banks, make their transactions without involving a third-party. Satoshi Nakamoto was a very wise man, and the proof for that is not only the creation of Bitcoin but also that he never revealed his identity because he knew if Bitcoin becomes famous in the future, he could surely get in trouble because the powerful of the world would surely not like it, and they will come after him.

B-money is only one of some cryptocurrencies that were created before Bitcoin. There are other coins like Digicash, Cybercash, E-gold, Hashcash, BitGold, and another created after B-Money like BitTorrent, then we had Bitcoin. Bitcoin prehistory.

A lot of people really didn’t believe in bitcoin when it first started there are people that doubted bitcoin and I was among those people I did not believe in bitcoin at first, but I regret why I did not invest in bitcoin when bitcoin started, it was something that really got me frustrated however it is never too late thank God I have already started investing in bitcoin and I believe the future will be more better than it is now. One thing I have learned in life is that anything your mind tells you to do please do it don’t listen to anyone who is saying something to discourage you from doing what you want to do as long as what you are intending to do is something that will not harm anyone or will not harm yourself please do it. One thing I believe in life is that there are some risk you need to take that won’t even cost you anything and it may even lead you to success.

lol supreme donvic i feel u on that regret thing. so many of us look back and kick ourselves for not diving in earlier. hal finney's first tweet really was a quiet start to something massive. the early days were wild in their own way though, all that raw potential. not saying it's easier now but the vibe has definitely shifted. anyway, past is past, right? just gotta keep building from here.

The history of bitcoin and how it grows shows us that we should believe in some things that we see as nothing, when people who believe in bitcoin from day one are saying that it is going to be a good investment in future no one believes because it looks like something that we are going to lose money and we will regret at the end, bitcoin growth and how it becomes the most valuable investment in the world is a surprise to everyone, the reason why i said it is a surprise is because we did not believe it and we are shocked to see how it is now. What i will keep regretting is not knowing the value of bitcoin from the beginning, those who believe in bitcoin from day one will never forget what bitcoin has done for them.

If you are early - you have the biggest opportunity to make something out of it, true to that. It goes for BTC and for any other coin, for that matter.
