Do you trust this to be preparation for the quantum era, or is it a plan to create a BTC fork coin that will get people's attention?
It's just a test network, and no I don't concern myself with that at all. In fact, I'd argue it's more likely bitcoin gets destroyed by quantum computers than a random fork beating its network effect. It's a good initiative. In order to even consider migrating to a quantum resistant algorithm, we need to write code and test it in a separate environment.
The quantum threat is definitely a good FUD. Nobody can really debunk it with certainty, and it absolutely threatens the system, if such computer were to become real. It's the final boss test for bitcoin holders.
