Well from one angle you’re right and from a different angle I’d slightly disagree with you. I’ll start with the areas I feel you’re right.
First of all, it’s true that a person’s or institution’s self interest mostly dominates global behavior. A lot of countries, individuals and groups we see today reacts towards certain global issues primarily in their own political or economic interests, so when they make certain policies, it’s mostly not to salvage the problem at hand, but to shield themselves from getting tangled with those global issues.

But even with all these, that’s still doesn’t mean that some people or institutions are not trying their best to render their help in the best ways they can, even when they know the can’t really take on those issues alone, they still give their best. For examples, there are numerous individuals, NGOs, philanthropists and even governments genuinely working towards ensuring that lessen and even solve (if possible) certain problems that have become a complete menace to humanity on a global scale.

People have concluded that if they don't do for themselves, nobody else will. You don't have to go to far to identify that. Check the reality of your own life and personal relationships and interactions with the environment and you will identify that. If you point the contradictions in the behavior of people close to you and demand coherency from them, they won't accept it and will stay against you.

As consequence, you won't bother yourself with their contradictions, focusing your efforts and attention on your own life, working, thriving and making money. And why will you do that? Because you can't fix someone else's problems. It's their duty, their responsability, doesn't matter how hard you try to help, it's still up to them, not up to you.

Now, thinking on global level, you can't blame a country for the misery of another ones. And the successful ones can't sacrifice their own success to try helping a country which doesn't want to change their acts, mentality and which avoid being coherent.

Everyone is just being selfish. I hope someday things turn out for the best. You hardly see people come together in groups to discuss growing issues that are affecting society, all that everyone seems to care about is how to use each other for selfish reasons, boyz thinking of spinning lies to get a girl, while girls are thinking of ways to cheat and get money from a guy.

Governments are finding ways to exploit their citizens and banks are coming up with rules to extort from customers. It has just become the era of selfish individuals out there.

On a personal ground, that's not so true because history repeating itself can't be all lies that there are selfless persons, persons who supports the best for others even if not in 100% and it can't really be but history keeps having men and women who have supported others in an excellent percentage and this will continue forever.

Because of the nature of human beings, it would be extremely difficult for a government of earthly administration to actually work to reach a state where problems are no more.
Actually that is one of the central points in religions like christianism, in which people are not "designed" to rule over one's another to reach peace, but they require the intervention of God himself and Christ to reach the end of all problems associated with humankind.

Selfishness of people alone is enough to spoil any attempt to reach what some people have classified as "utopian socialism".

Since we all are flawed, any government conceived for us will be inherently flawed as well.

We have the African Union(AU)
We have the European Union(EU)
We have the North Atlantic Treaty Organization(NATO)
We have United Nations(UN)
We have a whole lot more of union across the globe that where formed to help the society in one way or the other. During COVID-19 where we had lockdown, a lot of this union send out donations to nearly all the countries of the world that where affected, this they've done to nation's that also have stuffed natural disasters or political unrest. The issue of climate change has always been at the front burner of some of this unions, and they've been making out policies on how it can be resolved. the truth is that, because of the enormous things that have been left undone, most times efforts from this unions are not really seen or noticed, but trust me a lot have been done to help countries solve their problems, although there are still more to be done, which i believe it will take more time, so I believe people have been trying to save the world in their own little capacity.

However Corruption can exist in the sub national regions, where Presidents and states governor's would want to steal state resources, just a little or no effort is been put to fix problems, and rest of it. But I believe the people in those countries should rise up to their leaders and demand for what is right.

What i noticed from life and how those in high positions sees it, money and connection rule. If you are wealthy and have good connections, the rules or consequences don't apply to you. The government are the ones to fix the problem, if fortunately they can speak in one mind, in less than how long, a lot of problems will be resolved.

The reality is that the wealth of those on top depends on the poor, who will undergo the hard work if everyone has something good for themselves, at least everyone should be able to afford a good meal, the basics of life.

Make enough money for yourself also and forget about the problems of the society because it will never end and even if you try to remedy the situation of things, there are still people who will betray and backstab you. What you should know is that there are people who finds benefits in the hardships of others and such people wouldn't want things to get better because it will affect their source of income. I have seen people who sends thugs and hoodlums to destroy power lines just so that they will be called to fix it and make money from it. People who sells electronics like power generators and solar systems will not like where there is constant electricity so such people will always want a black out so that they can sell power generating systems that they can make profits from. So tell me how the problems of the society can be fixed with people that have such mentality.

What op said sounds funny but it is very true. I remember when I went on air to say exactly the same words but this time around it was directed to Nigerian politicians. I do not actually know how it is all over the world but I have this firm belief that in the Western countries, in Europe and America, it is much more better than what we have here in Nigeria and the rest of African countries.

I told them that no one plans for Nigeria, upon how poor and corrupt the country is, it does not give any of her leaders thoughts or sleepless night. No one is planning for my dear country and no one is strategizing for her. Her faith is just left in a pitiable mode. I don't know if this is the same for the rest of the world but it is exactly as described in op for my country.
