Yeah, that's a really strange comparison. Using an exchange service as a mixer by swapping one way and then back again could lead to a situation where you first exchange Bitcoin for Monero, pay a 1% fee, then swap Monero back to Bitcoin, pay another 1% fee, and end up receiving the exact same Bitcoins you originally sent. After all, the whole point of an exchange isn't to get the same cryptocurrency back.
