why isn't there a "trash bin" for users who sometimes have to delete their posts or delete them by mistake, so that they can be accessed later and either restored or permanently deleted?
I believe your drafts section serves as your personal trash bin, as long as you preview them as you type, they are automatically saved as drafts which you can always reference later. You can post it again or leave it deleted. I make it a point of duty to always preview posts as I make them, that way I don't have to loose them, I can even access previous versions from the drafts section in case I am not liking my new modifications.
I don't see much need for that actually when we have
tools to retrieve deleted posts on the forum.
The tools we have available in the forum to check deleted post is an external tool, which can only be accessed out of the forum. Having a trash can is really helpful and if embedded into the forum will really make a lot of sense. Not everyone remembers to preview their posts before publishing them and I don’t think we should even make that a necessity when we are sure of what we’re posting and done writing the content to be published. Having the draft section won’t do justice to what the trash can will.
Even if your posts got deleted by moderators, you can’t get to access them to even know the post or go through it to see reason why it was deleted. With a trash can, you can preview such post to know where the problem is and better yourself the next time when publishing a post. A draft section already in the forum does not do the best justice of having a trash can also and the purpose it will also serve.
