ICC Men's Under-19 World Cup 2025/26

ICC Men's Under-19 World Cup 2025/26 officially starts today. A total of 16 teams are participating and are divided into four groups. Each group contains four teams. The teams will play the group matches and then moved into super sixes and knockout matches.

Below are the four groups along with their teams.

 

The tornament will run from January 15 to February 6, 2026. The tournament is co-hosted by Zimbabwe and Namibia. There will be a total of 41 matches in this World Cup.

Till now 6 matches have been completed, with no upset results. Only result that was close to an upset was the win by Afghanistan Under-19s against the South Africa Under-19s. But then, this was not entirely unexpected. Afghanistan has been one of the rapidly growing teams in international cricket. England managed to defeat Pakistan, but given latter's inconsistency, it was also not a surprise. In a few hours, India will take on Bangladesh, and this is one of the most eagerly awaited matches in the group phase of this tournament. In the only other match today, Japan Under-19s will take on Sri Lanka Under-19s.

The target was not too high for Pakistan, especially given the start they had, easy and everything was going well for Pakistan, but then England made their comeback in the game, the way Pakistan Under-19s had wickets.

England Under-19s did the same to Pakistan. After this bad loss, Pakistan is at the bottom of the point table, the next couple of games are do or die for the Pakistan team because they already lost a single game out of three and now it will be intense and suspenseful games for Pakistan.

The seventh match of the ICC Under-19 Men's World Cup will be played today between Bangladesh Under-19 and India Under-19. Today is the first match of Bangladesh U-19 team and today is the second match of India U-19 team where Bangladesh is the strongest team in today's match. However, New Zealand and India are very strong teams in this group due to which it will be very difficult for Bangladesh to qualify. Bangladesh may win against the USA U-19 team, and it will be very difficult for them to win against the other two teams, New Zealand U-19 and India U-19. However, with two teams from each group qualifying, Bangladesh's chances of qualifying are very low.

Oh nice ! Afghanistan with the victory in their first game. The target was good but the credit clearly goes to the bowlers who stopped South Africa less than even 240. I think now South Africa must have to move on from this game and try to improve the dismissals that they have done today.

Early batters, including Jorich Van Schalkwyk was wasting many balls and this is not good; they should have played fast from the start and the same for Muhammed Bulbulia. If we talk about the second opener, Adnaan Lagadien was good, at least looking for boundaries. He scored 10 runs from 5 balls, but at least did not waste the balls and let the next batsmen play comfortably. Also, his innings made the team feel calm and motivated with one six and one four.

I have bet on India to win. I do not  know if I will win the bet. Because I have no idea about the under 19 squads of these two countries . India is a strong team in cricket, and that is why I hope their under- 19 team will be strong too.
India lost two wickets for just 12 runs and three wickets for 53 runs. Their total in 20 overs was 94 runs for the loss of 3 wickets. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi remained unbeaten on 62 runs off 50 balls. Al Fahad took two wickets among the Bangladeshi bowlers.

When India was facing Bangladesh, they were pretty good but at the same time losing wickets early. Ayush Mhatre the team captain got out on 6 run while Vedant Trivedi on duck and Vihaan Malhotra on 7, there was only a single player who was beast Vaibhav Sooryavanshi but today he was also a bit nervous that I think he was trying to help the team by playing long innings that's why he was taking many balls to be comfortable but still his innings really put a huge impact in the total then the remaining middle ordr payers were trying to come out of the pressure but it was diffuclt task.

It was the first match for Sri Lanka in this Under-19 World Cup and it was good for them. Early wonderful batting and amazing partnership this was all due to the poor opponent as they were facing to Japan Under 19s team which is probably one of the weakest teams.

So it is not a big deal, but at the same time, it helps them to secure a good position in the point table and especially the run rate. Australia could be hard for Sri Lanka to beat, but surely Ireland might be easy. We cannot predict anything right now. Hopefully, for the supporter of Sri Lanka, it is good to see them playing well.

There's no need to be scared of placing your bet on India to win, because they are the most successful team to have won the tournament five times consecutively, whereas Australia of whom are the defending champions will be aiming to claim their fifth win in this tournament, if all things go in their favor.
I would pick India over any other teams and am surprised we don't have more African teams interested or participating in this tournament, except south Africa and the host countries.

However, so far Japan U19 has scored 169 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in 46 overs, they need to score 219 runs in 24 balls to win which is impossible.

In this match, Sri Lanka U19 batted first and scored 387 runs in the allotted overs, which was a huge target. It turned out to be a one sided match. In the end, Sri Lanka Under-19s won by 203 runs. Hugo Kelly from Japan scored 101 not out, and that is one big positive for Japan in their first match. If some of the other players had given support to him, then Japan would have easily crossed 200. BTW, did anyone watched the India Under-19s vs Bangladesh Under-19s match? It started with a lot of drama, after both the captains refused to shake hands after the toss. Bangladesh managed to bowl out India for 238, and were cruising comfortably. But towards the end, they lost a lot of wickets and eventually lost the match by 18 runs (DLS).
