They play a really important role of connecting product to customer, they deserve every dollar they got as an income because it's a really hard job.

In reality, doesn't matter if your idea is very good, if nobody is buying it, it's as good as didn't exist at all. This is where salesperson matters.

They are the reason those big company can afford those skyscraper building.

Sale's looks attractive though, but it's more better if your the owner of the product being sold. If your a sales persons to any CEO, all the profits goes to him, so I would advise that, if your gunning for any sale's job, do well to also come up with your own brand and become a CEO of your own. We know literally all the names of CEOs of big companies across the globe, trust me the men that run the day to day business of those companies sometimes are always under undue pressure to meet up with sales target, the public might not know, but trust me a sale's job is not as easy as you make it seem, if target are not met, your CEO is already looking for replacement.

By the way, there was once a country where children dreamed of becoming sellers. This is because there was a shortage of goods in the country, and the seller had access to them, unlike ordinary citizens. It was the USSR. At the top of the hierarchy was the profession of butcher, because he had access to meat (only bones with traces of meat were sold in stores, and those were on coupons). Then the USSR disappeared and both of these professions lost their importance because everything appeared in stores. These are the unusual paradoxes that occur in professions. It depends on the economies of the countries. Bill Gates, on the other hand, means not about the profession as such, but about sales as the main driving force of the economy (that's how I understand his idea).

Actually becoming a salesman isn’t a simple thing to do..it requires lots of PR and communication skills and for sure I knew someone that wants to become a salesman since when we were in elementary school and right now his doing his dream job and it’s going very well.

In some cases over here in my side..there are some kids that wants to become salesmen and some of their fathers are salesmens maybe that’s why but all I know is that there are kids that becoming a professional salesman is their dream job while others dream of other jobs like engineering and medicine.

This demonstrates the strength of the relationships built, leading to repeat purchases. Customers test the products they purchase before becoming clients, so that when they decide to return, they are satisfied with the product and the added value of the salesperson's service. This profession is not easy and those who cannot convince buyers can struggle to thrive due to the competition. A salesperson must have the ability to influence customers and clients, as this can lead to their continued purchases. This profession is indeed not easy because not everyone can succeed without persuasive skills. Many people I know fail because they lack the skills to convince about the products they market.

No matter how strong the marketing or the product is, without sales they cannot reach the market. Similarly, along with sales, the value of the customer is priceless.

Salesperson was a thing of past in the current generation of b2c online shopping. Salesperson are unwanted middlemen who takes commission in several steps making the prices higher for the consumers while ripping off the producers margin.
There still are a few middlemen that takes a cut like amazon but their commission are limited and mostly predictable. The only salesmen job I can think of at the time are those scammers who bribes doctors to prescribe expensive medicine for profit which has turned the health sector to a scam, except for that almost all of the sectors are getting rid of salesperson, even the farmers are now directly selling their produce through tik tok.

Sometimes I wonder how people enjoy their job as salesmen. You have to experience many disappointments and sometimes insults because you want to promote a product. I never thought of becoming a salesperson because I see the work as stressful, and earning through commissions is also fearful. If you don't sell you might end up earning nothing.

These days, sales work has been digitalised, so you don't have to move from place to place promoting a product.  Digital marketing is now the order of the day, and salesmen are taking advantage of modern technologies.

You don't need to be a good salesman to succeed in business. You can hire the best hands that will help you in promoting and selling your products.

being a real estate agent can be considered a sales man right? and i know kids who have said that they want to grow up to be one  Wink

but some people tend to underestimate salesmen and saleswomen but these are the people with great people skills and marketing techniques some of the best businessmen out there came from being a salesman

It's one thing to be good at something and another thing entirely to from what you're good at, make a living off it. The way it always goes is that if it looks like your chances of making a living from the thing you're good at is slim, then don't stress yourself about it, look for something ilse that pays you.

If you're good at a thing, you can equally sell yourself out to the public and let them know that you're worth a certain value. If you're not able to project yourself out real well, your gift, talent and area of specialty might just stay with you till you take it down with you.

It is most often as a result of the mentality with which most of us were been groomed from childhood, we were made to think that certain professions are more noble than the others and they are high paying as well and as humans, our survival instincts by default will want to tend towards a noble and high paying profession, little did we know that's not the actual reality and so when we happened to become adults where we are now exposed to actual reality, some persons easily switch while the other stay in the reality sold to them when they wee much younger  but in all we get to discover how passion can be converted into a noble profession and make us good pay cheque too.

From what I understand, to be successful in business don't depends on what you sell rather it's those people that works with you and also those you build a relationship with, sale on the other hand is not a profession that is being planned from child birth and yet it does produce successful people in the world today .

It's very rare for a person to really love what they are doing and make it their business, income, or job. People often are forced to do day work in an office or the government, but they truly didn't plan for that.

Sales. It sounds easy, but it's actually tough to develop it. There are doubts that a salesman will think about, and it's often they end up giving it up because they cannot preserve it. It requires a lot of patience for a person to believe it's going to work at some point.
I remember this "Eat all you can" joint here near us. Both husband and wife just believed it would work, although there are less customers when they started. They closed for a week (maybe due to less income) and then went back to try again, and that's when everything went well for them after a week of advertising and marketing their business.

Sale's looks attractive though, but it's more better if your the owner of the product being sold. If your a sales persons to any CEO, all the profits goes to him, so I would advise that, if your gunning for any sale's job, do well to also come up with your own brand and become a CEO of your own. We know literally all the names of CEOs of big companies across the globe, trust me the men that run the day to day business of those companies sometimes are always under undue pressure to meet up with sales target, the public might not know, but trust me a sale's job is not as easy as you make it seem, if target are not met, your CEO is already looking for replacement.
Exactly my thought you said everything I had in mind this sales people aren’t actually getting the recognition or the accolades they deserve it’s always the CEO named after the brand I must say in as much as you’ll want to sell do well to be the person behind the brand it better that way.

The struggles to meet those target is the major problem for all salesman I was a salesman and I know how difficult it is to get to the target set by the management that why after I did the job for a few years I left and I’m at pro now no late calls, panic and waking up early nothing beats that feeling.just be the CEO if you can.

Well, I would say: If you have a shitty product, your "circle" of talented people will not save you from going bankrupt.  Your business is the problem, so dont blame it on your talent.

What you called "people not being able to make their best talent a profession" is completely against my philosophy.  To me, if you are the best at something but nobody wants to pay you for that skill, you may as well be a hobbyist with big dreams.  Being a professional is about taking what you are good at and applying it to a market that has a need for it, plain and simple.

As long as you can find a solution to the problem people are facing or you have a solution to make life easier and less stress free for people, you’ll become a big sales person and that will push you to become bigger and better than you can ever imagine from the past. These people are just good at creating solutions to the problems. It doesn’t matter the processes they went through, but once they’re able to solve a problem and can connect people together to help solve a problem, that is a great sign of uplift for them  and the company.

Being a good sales person is not hard once you have the solutions to the problem people are facing. Your sales department will be up and doing with demand for your products for consumption or use. Sales comes with having good products, so create value in your products and sales will come not by chance but by demand.

Sales seems to be dominant because its function those closest to market but in this VUCA world, theres no function with tittle "the most important on an absolut basis". Sales are the end of spear of company cash flow, without sales activity there aren't revenue, without revenue, other function will be stop. Now beside selling, sales be demanded to read market uncertainty to be opportunity, building long term trust and if there shifting or change in consumer demand, sales can be the first who notice it. For company survival the most important thing is responsif to market inquiry, and what makes sales conquer the world because they learn to understand people, make communication / networking and has resilience through rejection. But sales can not stand alone, without R&D there will not any good / sellable product. Without finance how can company manage cashflow.
