very useful even though it seems silly and unreasonable, there are many types of superstitions but if it leads to a positive side it will definitely be very useful even though logically there is no connection but it helps if we really do it, besides we should teach our children not to gamble

As long as the end result is positive, then how it happens doesn't really matter much; it's all about it bringing positivity. If the superstitions believed have helped some escape gambling addiction and spending, then it can be said to have helped even though most of us know it doesn't have any connection with gambling. Stay safe and be clean, don't indulge yourself into all manners of believes that could render you into doing some things you don't planned for, gamble at your own convenience and don't focus on anything that has to do with superstition, if others are doing it doesn't make it fit for us to join, there's individual differences and our own decision on how to gamble shouldn't be allowed influenced from what others are saying or doing.

Ironically you don't need to be "unlucky" to keep losing. That's just statistics, as only small portion can be "lucky". But i get what you mean.
 
However, wouldn't that wisdom affect in life way beyond gambling? Let's say that person sees every odds against them, then wouldn't that mean they would rather not take any risks in life. As some risks are worth taking. They might not seem like risks to any normal person, but to a person who is afraid of change for example, every opportunity wouldn't seem to be worth pursuing.

Even though the man's father was talking about superstition, I would still say that what he said was very good because the man's father was saying that they are not lucky and he knows that their luck is working against them, so the man's father forbade them from gambling in casinos. Meanwhile, we also know that gambling is played completely depending on luck and the man's father said this because he has to play depending on luck. Even if we don't believe in superstitions, all these superstitions come out of our mouths sometimes.

In contribution to what you are saying, been a failure is by choice and not a foundational cause,the father is not a successful gambler doesn't mean he will transfer his miscalculation to is failure to his son,or if two or three person's in the family didn't do well in gambling doesn't  stop the next person from wining, people should stop this superstition believe, the son can be luckily than his father,is because he has already believe of not having the chance of winning that's why gambling was not favoring him, gambling is by prediction and lucky and not by superstitions.

Superstition works if you want to believe it, and at times some parents only tell this kind of words to their children if they don't want them to indulge in whatever they are doing because they don't want them to be involved and so they tell them this stories to scare them away because might be forgetting and neglecting their primary assignment, so to keep them on track they will give some superstition stories, but unfortunately the children ends up believing them and it becomes part of their lives and so that can also be applicable to gambling if you don't want your child to be carried or involved in gambling activities.

If this helps protect children from gambling, then I'm all for it. Children shouldn't even go near a casino. It's definitely not going to end well. You also need to be careful about what your child does in their free time. Limit and restrict their phone or computer use. I once saw a neighbor whose children spent entire days on these devices. If you take these devices away from them, they'll start throwing tantrums. Can you call that an addiction? I think so.

It's true; I've also observed that with certain football players. It just looked like a basic mannerism to me, and I never imagined they were doing it as a lucky charm.
Interestingly, when Manny Pacquiao was first beginning his boxing career, he wore a big cross, which was likely his lucky charm at the time and helped him win matches.

I do not believe in such things myself, because I believe more in luck when it comes to gambling (winning).

In my environment there are many people who like to do gambling with different types, and what I think is Strange is with those who gamble lottery types, they always attribute to superstition to put the number on the other hand there are those who manage to get a win but I think it's nothing more than luck in favor.

We have our own ways of gambling, but the important thing is not to gamble this is done excessively because it is not good.

There is something called taboos for the kids in my country, these taboos are not true but they use it to shape kids behavior. If the kid grow to adult, he will understand that it is not true at all but people are only painting it true for the kids to believe. It is for the benefit of the kids. This is similar to what you are talking about.

You are right , sometime our parents tells things that are not real,and we accept as kids and work towards that believe,hoping that is how it has always been in the family,I could remember my dad told me something when I was small ,I listen and obey with fear ,not knowing he was scaring me away from it ,I just discovered it was a means for me not to go through that part ,the only way he could do it was to fabricate a story that wasn't real self,it was funny when I found out the truth ,but trust me it helped me not to go through that part .

My opinion is, even if superstitions ever help someone to win in gambling, that «sometimes» happens so rare, that it is better not to rely on them much or better to ignore. I dont know how to even test if they work, because I dont know how to tell difference if it was superstition that helped to win, or just random win. Because it is hard to predict with 100% chance when you will win, it is hard to tell what works and helps to win, and what not.
