Misleading Signature or Genius Marketing?

Yes, it's about the signature design as well as what's stated or advertised on them.



I just happened to see a certain casino's signature stating you can get some free BTC. No side statement of like (T&C applies) or a short description. Just straight up, Get free BTC.
Now I know, there isn't really free BTC on them, I just wanted to see how the casino (or in this instance, the support) reacts when I asked about the said free BTC.
So, out of boredom and curiosity, I clicked that signature, which, of course, pointed me to the casino. I signed up and quickly chatted with their support, telling them I wanted to claim that oh sweet free BTC. 

At first, the support stated that maybe a third party is promoting their casino. I then pointed out that it came from a signature that I saw in this forum (sent him a screenshot, as well as a link).
The support then tells me that they, in fact, have free BTC on their platform, but it is only available by winning the mega win on a certain spin. Meaning, that free BTC isn't really free but a prize to be won on a mega win.



If a newbie sees it, of course, they'll jump in and sign up (good way to rake up sign-ups), but what if someone who's really gullible and has lots of money to take this issue to court sees it? Do you guys think that they have a case and that the casino should pay up?
Their signature does work in luring in new players (kudos to them and whoever made that signature). But, what do you guys think, is this misleading or just genius marketing?

P.S. I don't mean this as negative feedback towards that casino (hence the zero mention  ), just wanted to know how everyone else feels about this.

It is absolutely misleading.

But 5 BTC now is $478000 which is not a small amount of money that can easily be given for free. Only what I can think of is that it could be a scam or just a means of advertising and luring people to visit their gambling site.

Before anyone can be given such fee money, there must be terms and conditions which will not make the person take the matter to court.

If you can get the lucky spin for free they could be able to technically claim that there are up to 5BTC available for free. If you have to pay directly to be able to get the lucky spin you could have a case.

You could get them to change the terms but they cannot award the person the amount just like that even if it is dubious marketing.

5 BTC bonuse is huge and a sarcastic way of marketing, now telling you you have to win that 5 bitcoin is the reality.

Nothing different from casinos saying on their signatures that NO KYC but getting to demand for KYC verification when you want to withdraw your winnings.

When asked, the casino says no KYC to deposits and gamble, but KYC needed to withdraw our winnings this are two ironies of the marketing strategy that we have seen around.

As far as what I think of this kind of marketing, well, I hate it.  Its deceptive, sleazy, and a scam based on taking advantage of people who are either so desperate for money that they will try anything to get it or are so dumb that they buy into any bullshit out there.

Claiming that you can only get your BTC through a "Mega Win" is absurd.  By that logic, every lottery ticket sold  is "free money" as long as you can win that lottery drawing!

This isn't a justification but the marketing culture is now mainly banking on misleading claims, big words, superlatives, sometimes even outright lies. Unfortunately, this has become widely acceptable when it should be frowned upon.

Although the principle of caveat emptor always applies, even to those ads that have no disclaimers and whatnot, I don't think this means promoters can then be irresponsible and just put anything that comes to mind.

To be fair, your signature OP says it has guaranteed highest VIP rewards. Is it factual? Does it have basis or it's just another hollow claim? It's funny, there's one that claims to be "God's chosen casino & sportsbook". I think the contest is already won! Kudos to the brain behind the tagline!

BC lost my trust awhile back when I started seeing the scam section filled with complaints. Stuff that should have been solved by now and still haven't, then their support is just shit and they leave players with no options on kyc if they fail it. They don't seem to care about anything but users depositing, other then that it feels like how can we operate this site as cheap as possible.

To me I think its a misleading signature, but that's just my opinion.

Signature designs and text is limited and it's given, they could change it to another wordings or what, but it's totally misleading. Yes, it's part of the marketing strategy, and some signatures have such exaggerated wordings and description of their casino. But just "Free 5 BTC". I checked their site and other clones but there's nothing the same marketing offer like that.

It's the same with those ads that says they're kyc free but later when you've gambled with them, they'll ask for verification. While I've got no issue with bc.game and I've been a user of them and won a lot of giveaways there. I think it's been a part of marketing typically about the exaggerated amounts to attract more users. I agree to the people who said that there's a better way to put that up rather than outright saying that someone can claim that amount or maybe should have put like "up to".

So what if it's misleading? Many things are not 100% true for everyone
 One can't think realistically that this is a free prize for everyone that clicks when BTC is worth more than the average salary of four people in the west combined.

Given the context I don't think it's that much of a big deal. Besides, can we prove they haven't given away 5TC ever? The burden of proof is upon the casino of course but if we're gonna hold marketing of casinos to such high standards, good luck.  One might go crazy trying to do that.

I expect there to be some level of embellishment when you have limited space and are trying to get people’s attention. This however is a poor choice of words.

People are smart enough to figure out that there is probably some special requirement needed to receive such an amount. The degree to which it misleads is very subjective in this case.

Once the support agent clarified that it is a prize which you can receive from a contest that should have been good enough. I would leave it there and suggest to whoever handles the campaign to change the wording. I wouldn’t have kept insisting that they give me 5 BTC for no reason.

Today, that's no longer misleading, in my opinion. We don't need to clarify here and there because we generally know how the casino business works, and free wins of that value are extremely rare. Even as we saw today, someone trying to withdraw 5 BTC in winnings from a game, the casino's attitude with no KYC label is worse than that of a conventional bank. lol

I'll follow up on your words from another discussion. Probably the detailed conditions of this free money are written somewhere in fine print, and in some cases, this is enough to cover the legality of such promotions. However, this must be considered misleading, especially when it is known that people often do not look at all the rules and conditions.

I'm usually almost certain and supportive of the Casinos when I see random scam accusations against them, but BC.game is one of the most evil/fraudulent casinos to exist in the crypto industry. I'm not even talking about their operations on this forum rather their company and the culture they promote. The mentioned signature is misleading, and should be upto their campaign manager to get that rectified. Just a general piece of advice from someone who works/has worked closely with casinos - Avoid BC.game at all costs.

They might win the case. Do you remember what happened in 2013? A man called Benjamin Careathers filed a lawsuit against Red Bull for claiming "Red Bull gives you wings". He drank it and didn't grow wings, so he filed a lawsuit and got $13 million settlement. I'm not a lawyer but it makes perfect sense to win the case against casino in this case but I guess it might depend on the country too. You can't fill such lawsuits outside of the USA.

Let's return to the topic. I don't see 470% deposit bonus on website, so does anyone know where these numbers come from? I see up to 360% deposit bonus. If there isn't 470% deposit bonus on bc.game, then it's misleading.
Free 5 BTC is also misleading to my mind but to be honest, I've often seen misleading ads from many casinos. I feel like it has always been a norm in this industry but of course, I prefer direct communication instead of finding surprises when digging deep.

that lawsuit honestly is just stupid. if i attempted to do something like this where i live, i would be laughed at.

I'm not a lawyer but it makes perfect sense to win the case against casino in this case but I guess it might depend on the country too. You can't fill such lawsuits outside of the USA.

i'm not a lawyer either, but i don't think a player can sue the casino for misleading marketing unless he is directly affected, like if they advertise a game being 1% house edge, but it's not, etc... and unlike the red bull case, where a customer bought the product with their own money, the case here is just a "fake" freebie.
but regulators on the other hand, could slap them with a fine, which they would obv keep for themselves. again, i'm not a lawyer, so i could be wrong with my assumptions.

On the long term, this site will face high bounce rate, for allowing a misleading clickbait stay for too long on their ad.  Frustrated users who weren't issued the 5btc after clicking on the ad, would lose trust and cancel business plans with the brand for appearing unorganized and tiresome.
