Guarding your seed phrase like you guard your bank pin is very important, and just like you did mentioned, many will be looking for the best storage practices to have their assets stored but will not pay as much attention to the basic principles of securing their wallets, it doesn't just end at getting the best cold wallet or the most secured online wallet, if your seed phrase is known to a third party, the chances that your assets are very safe and secured is almost not there because when once these persons can gain access to the wallet, they are very likely to be able to do whatever they wish with your wallet and move your assets to anywhere they wish to move it to, that way you can loose your asset even while using the best storage device.

I don’t see a world where we can equate a seed phrase with our bank passwords. It’s a password, in fact, even with knowledge of a bank password, you still could be required to produce a token to authenticate certain amounts to be transacted and their are amounts that the bank would limit you from transacting and would require your physical presence at the banking facility.

Such isn’t the case with wallet seed phrase, it’s an all in one authenticator not to mention, it gives you a clear pass to import a wallet unto another device, something you can’t do with just a bank pin or password. You get the leverage to transact as you please with knowledge of a seed phrase and with that level of leverage the seed phrase offers, you ought to device serious means to protect it and ensure it stays private, no one needs to know you even have such a key in your possession.

I have always being of the opinion that, even a weak security measure could prove to be the strongest if you keep to certain principles like privacy and safely secure that which needs to be safe. Privacy in terms that, having people know that certain things have value, that’s you actually inviting them to test it. When they don’t know, they wouldn’t even try.
You are right. Even privacy alone is not enough. Privacy only prevents people from attacking your wallet since they don't even know you own an asset. But your asset can still be lost if you do not practice good security habits to protect your assets. Careless storage of your seedphrase can be disastrous, including other acts of carelessness that puts the asset at risk. Every individual has a responsibility to ensure that their assets are safe.

Ultimately, wallet security depends on how you maintain it. Even if a wallet's security has been proven to be highly secure carelessness can lead to the loss or loss of access.

So, maintaining wallet security ultimately depends on each individual's approach including maintaining privacy ensuring a wallet that can be controlled independently and storing their seed phrase. Especially when you're investing for the long term and have significant assets you need to be extremely careful and thorough in safeguarding it. Losing access to your wallet means losing all your assets. Treat your wallet security like caring for a baby, with the utmost care and attention.

If anyone is trying to confuse you to drop your private keys for your own sake they are trying to fool you, even if they claimed to be part of the team of that same hardware wallet that you are using. Private keys, Recovery seeds, they are not meant to be shared even with the team of your hardware wallets.

Seed phrases don't need supports
They don't need any fixes.
Not Ever.

It has been a known trick used by scammers who wants to defraud an unsuspecting victim of their hard earned money saved as crypto, they will pretentiously ask for details only to get access so that they can be able to swindle away all the assets in the wallet, to me i will always advise, it doesn't matter who is asking, never give out your wallet details to anyone as the introduction of a third-party having access to your wallet doesn't guarantee the safety of such wallet any more as it can be easily compromised. OP is very correct to say seed phrases don't need supports or fix or even recovery by the team who provides you with the wallet, be it cold or online.

Not your keys, not your coins. So if someone ask for that, then treat it as a scammer. No good person that will intentionally ask for it for whatsoever reason, that is your coins so you are the only one should know the seed phrases, otherwise the whole assets in your wallet will be all compromised.

Just know the fact that having bitcoin is being on your bank, which means you have the sole responsibility to safeguard it from fake people around, from all those too good to be true offers from scammers.

Someone investing for the long-term and having a significant amount should also make sure that they purchase the best hardware wallet and use that for their assets instead of using a desktop or mobile wallet even if they are non-custodial. A hardware wallet is much more secure because that wallet is not always available in one of your devices because we know that mostly wallets that are available within devices have a higher risk of getting compromised by any means like a malware attack or something else.

So many people, mostly new investors who don't have knowledge or experience, make the mistake of keeping their funds either in online wallets or exchange platforms, I have even seen people using browser extensions such as MetaMask and stuff to keep their assets, even though they provide you with private keys and seed phrase and everything, I still don't find that being very secure, and I believe people should take the security of their funds more seriously if they don't want to lose money.

In crypto, we can't trust anyone but ourselves, not our children, not our wives or husbands, not even our parents. Crypto criminals have thousands of ways to trap us with all the technological advancements today.

Don't trust, verify!

I couldn't believe what I saw on the news, it was a wallet with millions of dollars in it & then the owner was easily socially engineered, doesn't he understand that when it comes to crypto, there will be no connection with customer support or anything like that, except storing assets on a centralized platform.

Many people keeps going for the best options available and still ended losing their coins, the victim who lost $300M days ago is using a Trezor wallet, and still got destroyed through social engineering attack.

For anyone who wants to see the full report regarding what bros @5W-KILO said, you can see it on Cointelegraph.

You can minimize the risk a lot by simply dividing your coins into several devices instead of having all of them in the same hardware wallet, which seems what happened to the protagonist of the news. One could say that when he got all these coins their value was lower and that's why he didn't care about dividing them for that reason, but in the article it is said that "The victim had held more than 3,000 BTC since 2017 with little prior activity, according to blockchain data", which was already worth several million dollars at that time.

All of these are archaic patterns that scammers are using to scam for a very long period of time and I'm very sure toan extent even most people are also aware of the scam patterns and to an extent im sure it is minimised to a little bit and we must say thie true to ourselves. It is still happening hence the reason why everyone is supposed to be very conscious and and not disclose sensitive numbers out.
