Ultimately, the only question that matters is: Are Americans capable of and willing to oppose Trump in his mad quest for conquest?

This is a real question that needs to be answered as soon as possible - because half of Americans with the right to vote did not vote for him, but the other half who put him in power have shown that they are mostly violent and do not question his decisions. The stories say that the very top of the US army, including the generals, strongly opposed any military intervention against the EU, as well as a large number of senators/congressmen, whether they are Democrats or Republicans.

What we can read/hear from the media points to the formation of a voice of reason within the US that understands what could happen if the US attacks Greenland, which means two things - the first is the practical disintegration of the NATO alliance, and the second is a war with the EU, which in its internal treaties stipulates that all member states must defend the attacked member state.

This again raises the issue of EU unity, because we know that Hungary and Slovakia would certainly not participate in it, and the big question is what Italy would do, whose prime minister behaves like a poodle of the great peacemaker.

According to a poll, only 17% of United States people voted that Trump should attack Greenland, the people of United States are not in support of what Trump is doing about Greenland.

Greenlanders are having protests already, they are showing how they do not want Trump.

Greenland Premier Minister said they do not want Trump but Trump said he does not know him and he is saying something like the Premier Minister will regret that.

The stories say that the very top of the US army, including the generals, strongly opposed any military intervention against the EU, as well as a large number of senators/congressmen, whether they are Democrats or Republicans.
What we need is the Congress should vote, only 2/3 of the vote is enough to silent the bullying.

I see this the most strange situation that a country want to force another country to sell itself. And that country can't resist the USA pressures despite supported from almost all countries as I didn't hear anybody supporting Trump invasion plan.

This not a good move by president Donald Trump to acquire Greenland, and I think it will not be good for the world at large. Russia is already speaking up about this situation and we know that Russia and the US are not best of friends, so this might result to a big issue if Trump continues to put pressure. I really don't even understand why Trump will want to make such move, but the annoying thing is that Greenland can't even stand up for themselves and I don't think Denmark can withstand the might of the US. I just hope this does not lead to WW3.

I don't expect this to lead to a worldwide war because all Greenland supporters are already USA allies. China and Russia are already there in the ocean arround trying to exploit from Arctic resources, and the USA needs to confirm its long term existing because it can't compete with Russian-Chineese powers in the oceans. Note that that region can be considered as a shorter sea route to Latin America, instead of going through the traditional routes via the Mediterranean Sea for Russia and the Cape of Good Hope for China. Greenland is not the subject of war itself.

Do not believe what Trump is saying, they are not true. From what that was found out, there is no Russia and China presence in Greenland.

What Trump wants is territory, minerals...

Trump only wants to expand US territory to Greenland because of the gradual melting of the ice in the region, Trump want to make the place to generate income for US. They may be suspecting that rare earth minerals are there, what China used to end Trump bullying trade war on China because US does not really have rare earth.

Are you not surprised that Trump did not attend Conference of the Parties (COP) last year? You can read about US absence in COP30.

I doubt Trump will continue the conflict against Europe his allies in NATO because of rare minerals while he can get them in easier way. A politician in Greenland said yesterday that USA already exist in the island but Trump is looking for another kind of presence. He wants minerals of course but not only this the reason as the move has more goals beyond what the media shows us everyday. He want Russia and China and their allies to know that USA exists in this part of the world. After annexing Greenland, those countries will no longer has the same privileges as before.

To be more precise, it was the US that wanted Greenland, not Trump. Because the idea of acquiring this island dates back to the 19th century and has been repeatedly discussed over the past several decade. But so far they have not succeeded in winning Greenland

What the US wants is not just resources, they see Greenland as a strategic element to consolidate and expand their influence, from economic to military. And the geopolitical situation is becoming increasingly tense due to intense competition from Russia and China. I think this time the US will do everything it can to take Greenland

You are right, they want Greenland to become more competitive and restrain Russia and China. There is no reason to create military conflict with their allies.

It can be easily known that you and Kavelj22 are Trump supporters from the United States, and you will both be among the 14% that voted in the United States to support what Trump is doing against Greenland. Just know that you are all bullies. Listen to what you are saying, that Trump will do everything it takes to take over Greenland. That means even if it is war.

You want to take over your ally country just because of your own selfish interests, but you against China to take over Taiwan. All you big countries are bullies but United States is the worst of them in disguise.

EU really need to sit right because United States can be the problem in the future just like I have said before, if the power is becoming too big, anything can happen in the future.

You have base in Greenland, you said that is not enough, you are allowed to mine in Greenland and you said that is not also still enough. If you want to expand your military in the country without threats, Denmark would have allowed you, but you said that is not enough. What you need is the whole Greenland.

What was Russia thinking when it sold Alaska to you, if not because of financial strain from war and because of the Britain that could be thinking of planing to seized the area. Britain and EU played a large part in what United States becomes today but United States wants to turn against them.

It is better you know that you may think you are the world power, know that Russia has weapon like you, China has economy like you, what makes you have the world power is your influence. EU supporting you is the main influence that you have. Know that world power can shift.

European countries hold $13 trillion of US debt and are its largest holders. It would be interesting to see what would happen if they decided to sell it off and stop buying more.

~snip~

It just shows that even ordinary people understand how crazy it is to threaten their allies militarily, and that means that all those clowns from the American administration have never-less popular support. The problem is that they will continue to create chaos in the world for almost three more years until new elections when (we all hope) Americans will wake up and realize that people like this should never get power in their hands.

What we need is the Congress should vote, only 2/3 of the vote is enough to silent the bullying.

In theory yes, but it seems to me that too many politicians in the US are afraid to take action because they know who is on the other side. To an uninformed observer, it would seem that the US is a country ruled by a dictator, because Congress and the Senate seem to not exist.

European countries hold $13 trillion of US debt and are its largest holders. It would be interesting to see what would happen if they decided to sell it off and stop buying more.

Imagine what an advantage lies in that if the EU bureaucratic cowards would position themselves in a way that would be necessary at this moment, in addition to the fact that the EU also has key US military bases with over a hundred thousand soldiers and the fact that the EU is an important business partner for them.

If any of those clowns had any courage, the problem would be solved in 24 hours.

Donald Trump said eight European countries face 10% tariff for opposing US control of Greenland

Is Russia or China now the problem or the United States for having a leader like Trump? Trump said that Greenland will be taken over by China and Russia but reports said it is not true. Trump wanted lands and minerals and that is the reason he likely wants to taken over Greenland.

He is making the European countries to be the United States enemies.

Quote
https://www.theguardian.com/world/live/2026/jan/17/hands-off-greenland-protests-denmark-us-donald-trump-europe-latest-news-updates
Donald Trump has said “world peace is at stake” as he unveiled 10% tariffs on European countries opposing US plans to acquire Greenland.

Posting on Truth Social, the US president said:

We have subsidized Denmark, and all of the Countries of the European Union, and others, for many years by not charging them Tariffs, or any other forms of remuneration. Now, after Centuries, it is time for Denmark to give back — World Peace is at stake!

Trump concluded his post by saying the US is “immediately open to negotiation with Denmark and/or any of these Countries that have put so much at risk, despite all that we have done for them, including maximum protection, over so many decades”.

Why are people with power doing this? He knows that United States is greater in power than the European Union right now and he wants to use the opportunity to be attacking them. This is not fear, I see him more as a threat to the world. If United States has even being about taking nations land like huge part of Mexico, maybe Canada will be next after Greenland.

Europe need to strengthen their military, they have really been sleeping. Trump is only bullying them and try to use his bullying to take over Denmark land.

World Economic Forum (WEF) annual meeting will take place at Davos, Switzerland from January 19–23, 2026. Greenland will be discussed but Trump is showing already that he will not agree with anything, that he is not going back.

Well, we know that Trump believes that the US-EU relationship benefits Europe more than US. And Trump is interested in making US great. If you consider those two things, then "balancing" that relationship by annexing a part of Europe's autonomous territory for US seems like an obvious step to make it more "fair" in Trump's eyes. Now Europe could either agree that they disproportionately benefited from this relationship, gave Trump land in hopes to continue to benefit from such relationship. Or the relationship must be reworked, in either case in Trumps view vassals must always pay in one form or another.

Belgian Prime Minister Bart De Wever said the US is crossing read lines in its handling of the Greenland issue and that it could herald the end of an era.

At the World Economic Forum in Davos today, De Wever said US claims on Greenland risked destroying 80 years of Atlanticism.

“Until now, we have tried to accommodate the new President [Donald Trump],” the Belgian PM said.

“We have been very lenient, for example on trade tariffs. We were lenient in the hope of gaining his support for the war in Ukraine.

“But now so many red lines have been crossed that you have to choose your self-respect. Being a happy vassal is one thing. Being an unhappy slave is something else entirely,” he said.

Wow that's prime minister of Belgium admitting that he wants to be a happy vassal  Huh can someone educate this ignoramus on how all vassal-lord relationships must sooner or later work. I mean honestly what were you expecting while willingly being a vassal?
