Our Nigerian government wants to hold us(the youths) hostage, to be fully dependent on them in everything. It surprises them that despite the hardship in the country, we, the youths, keep soaring high and living the best of our lives.

It gets the government annoyed that no matter how they try to dim our future light, we still drive expensive cars like them, travel, and build houses. Nothing pains the government more than that; the people they try to dim their future light are doing better for themselves without needing them.

The armed forces you mentioned, how much does the government pay them as salaries? It's the frustration of not being paid well that made them act the way they do to civilians to be corrupt and money-conscious to do anything for the money

If only these rich youths can live a low key lifestyle in their appearance, the police wouldn't know that they're making money but the youths want to show off that they're rich attracting the police attention on them. What do you expect, the police to do. Theh will want to take advantage of them since they're not happy with their own salary rate. They will look for a means to get their own share if your money is not legit.

You don't expect the young rich guys to live a simple life when they make most of their money through scamming, it's becoming a tradition for the young rich guys to be nosie makers they show off and spend on luxury things like cars which makes them get attracted by the police. In a civilized country you don't see a lot of this things because people work so hard to earn a living and you will be scared of spending so much because you will be investigated to know your source of income but in the developing countries scammers and criminals can spend anyhow until they get caught up by the police.

If the people in charge of the administration and law and order of a country do not give opportunities to the youth or the young people but harass them in various ways, it can be easily assumed that the people of that country will not be able to move forward much. If unemployment is a problem in a country, no progress can be expected.

The unemployment problem must be solved first. If the youth or the young are neglected or harassed unnecessarily, they will be discouraged. They will lose interest in working and later the society and the country will not be able to expect anything from them. Yes, if there is proper evidence of any thing wrong, then it will definitely come under the law, but there is no justification for harassing anyone unjustly. The officials of the concerned country should definitely give importance to this matter.

The government agencies seems to be against successful youths because they are yet to recognise and acknowledge some sources of income in the country. This is where the minister for youths or anyone in charge of youths affairs needs to stand tall and fight for the education of those in authority, including the armed forces. They should know that not all online sources of income are scams or fraud. They can recognise it and create a regulatory framework for these recognised online skills.

As for the youths, my mom will always say "if you are not a thief, do not behave like one". Ensure you can defend yourself anywhere that you are not into any form of fraud. You can't entirely blame the government when majority of the youths earn a living through fraud. Live an honest life so you can fight for your right when you are harassed by the authorities.

Lately I’ve been thinking about something that doesn’t sit right with me.

In this country, it feels like once a young person starts making real money, instead of being encouraged, they’re automatically treated like a suspect. You see teenagers or youths doing well, and the first reaction from authorities is not “how did you build this?” but “you must be into fraud.”

I’m aware that the crime rate in our country is high, but that doesn’t mean every youth who makes money early is a fraudster. Instead of encouragement, we are now being frightened, and this is making many of us lose courage and avoid sociopolitical participation. Where I live, the armed forces in my community don’t even bother with proper questioning, they simply take you to their barracks or station, knowing that once you get there, your money will most likely be taken from you before you are released.

Many young people today are freelancers, traders, programmers, content creators, crypto investors, or business owners who simply used the internet to change their lives, yet the system refuses to recognize that.

It almost feels like the government and armed forces don’t want us to succeed early. They prefer that we stay struggling and dependent. The moment you try to rise above that, you become a target.

What they should be doing instead is creating policies that support youth entrepreneurship and help young people become productive and independent. That way, a young person wouldn’t have to enter a new area and first ask, “do police usually arrest youths around here?” even when they are doing legitimate work. But instead, they choose intimidation and suspicion, and that sends a very bad message.

So I keep asking myself: what do they really wish for us?
Do they want young people to innovate and build the economy, or do they just want us to remain poor so they can stay in control?

Mate you don't need to feel about the situation we the youth find ourselves in this country too much, because it's clear that our leaders and our securities are not protecting us rather intimating us and their reasons being that they never believe that we will ever rise up,they thought we will all die , but their plans failed .they don't want anyone to challenge them financially but you know that God is not a child he is making a way for us and that was why they use their power to oppress us.

And another thing is that our law is not working for Big men, it is only for the poor masses and that has contributed to our hardship we are facing in this country..we are in a lawless country otherwise everybody knows his or her right in this country

Wow, such a point you made, but like we all know, not every young rich guy is a scammer as you assume. Some are simply living a luxury lifestyle now after hustling for years when nobody saw their struggle.

I agree that scammers exist, and they are even common where I’m from. But the EFCC behaves like: since they can’t easily tell who is truly a fraudster, they treat every successful young person as one. And that approach is unfair and wrong.

My thoughts on buying cars are simple. If I buy five cars, even if I’m hustling, that is obviously suspicious and can be looked into. But if I buy just one car, it could be from my own savings or from contributions by family or friends. That is normal and understandable. So there is no right for the police or EFCC to stop someone on the road just because they bought one car, or own a car.

Most youths just want to live their lives and enjoy their success. That doesn’t automatically make them criminals. If the EFCC wants to investigate, they should do it quietly and professionally, not by storming homes or stopping random young guys on the road.
In Europe, agencies investigate without embarrassing people. They don’t just harass someone because he looks successful or drives a nice car.

At the end of the day, authorities should focus on real evidence, not assumptions.

It is so unfortunate that in our country ,no body wants to know you when you are poor.but once you starts making money enemies will spout out from everywhere.
Even the so called security agencies will come after you.they will bully you.
In fact,we don't really know what they want from us.or maybe they want all of us to remain  poor.

As long as you are a young person,to them you are a criminal.... it's so intimidating.

The question remains, what do they really want from us?

Well sha, for me, for what I have really noticed about the issue of military officers and youth is that some youths started this whole thing of military officers extorting money all the time from them. Some youths  are even the one encouraging the military officers to extort money from poor youths.
The one wey dey even vex me pass na all these yahoo boys. Simple show your papers , dem don rush bring money come outside like say dem be Otedola.
Dem don use the money take master them so tey anybody wey dem see now(sofar na young boy and e dey drive better car ) dem go wan  make sure say something must drop for their hand.
I see those youths as people wey nor know their right. As for me , I know my right and no military officers fit try am say e wan exploit me in any way sef. Dem nor go try am sef Cos me I nor go gree for anybody.

Some of them are sensible enough to leave a calm life. They buy houses, good cars, but mind the way they go about flaunting their wealth on social media and in real life. I have a friend, who spend most of his time streaming online, playing video games, he is filthy rich but you wont see him misbehaving with all he got.  I really don't blame the youth though, you know life is a journey. There are years to live in it, and those who make the wrong decisions will regret why they did. I know how hard it can be but staying silent is the best option for them.

That's exactly what so many young and vibrant people feel out there, the sad reality they are met with is that instead of being celebrated for having legitimate means to make something of themselves, the system finds a way to treat them with overwhelming suspicion as if their struggle does not matter in society. Frankly speaking, all these sorts of societal and emotional intimidation only kills ones innovative ideas and discourage participation in building the nation to where it needs to be.

To be honest, the real criminals in Nigeria is the government they oppress citizens by looting public funds and come up with policies that favour them without giving account of their actions, it's so unfortunate for citizens that they have the veto power and the so called EFCC can't go after them especially if you're holding a government position and belongs to the ruling party. The system is so corrupt and all citizens can really hope for is a regime change to a government that can do better, a leader who have the citizens at heart and mean well for the progress of the country not some drug lord as president and terrorist as vice.

This is a valid topic, every time some authorities see a younger successful person they will ask them how they're able to do it. And whatever comes to their mind is that this successful guy is part of an illegal activity. It's always been the taboo in their minds that these young successful people from whichever trade they do as if they have no rights to become successful. I think they need to be briefed and need to change their approach if ever they have encounter one. Because of the innovation and change of the world trends, more youth are going to hit success.

Its really bad the way youths are treated in our Society making youths feel rejected because they never have plans for youths in our society at large that is the main reason all successful youths are treated as fraudster them corrupt and greedy minded leaders recognised as wealthy investors because they are all birds of the same feathers that always move together. The right time we experience changes in that attitude will be better for all because that specific behaviour is restricting youths from taking some advance steps to success all because they can't predict the next line of action of our society when they hear there success story.

They wish their citizens to be disciplined taxpayers but should never ask any questions about what the government chooses to do with tax money.

This is the situation in almost all parts of the world.

And the soluition is simple, make enough money and move out of the country that align with the interest of their citizen rather than disctating what their people should do.

If the government of a country hinders the development of its country, then it is certain that that country will not be able to move forward. But of course, governments must understand that the people are the life of a country, if they get the maximum opportunity, then they will work for the country. If the country is to move forward in the future, they will have to do it by themselves. But when the government of a country becomes corrupt, then they do not want to develop the country because if the country develops, then people will raise their voices against them. People will know many things. They are doing this in advance to prevent this kind of situation from happening.

If the government of a country cannot pay the salaries of its government officials or employees according to the basic needs , then stability can never be expected in that country, but the country will quickly go backward. People will become corrupt so that they can live well. That is, such a situation is pre-planned to keep the entire nation backward. But there are many poor countries, despite trying to do better, cannot do it.
