You know, I'm still wondering how this sounds in his ear, quitting your job to keep gambling how? Does he even realize that winning is not guarantee? Or maybe he got carried away by the winning, that's funny. And yeah this happen to other gamblers out there especially those set that lack disciplined. Most of them take usually take a break from work when they win just so that they would enjoy the wining after spending it they will still return back to gambling, had it mean he knew that he can't use the money for something important he would have take a break from work rather than quitting.
Even when people say they quit their job to focus on trading, I personally see it as a big mistake, let alone gambling. Well, stupid things people do. This only shows that the person knows nothing about gambling, even when they feel they know so much already. Because if they have the slightest clue about gambling, they’ll understand that gambling wins are never guaranteed, and that the odds are always stacked against the gamblers, and even if a gambler manages to win a huge amount in one day, he could spend the whole year paying off those wins back to the casino if they keep on gambling, and that’s just the reality of gambling.

Someone from my community said he quit his job after winning almost 3,000 USD from gambling. Now he is back to looking for a job after he lost all his money. Immediately, I thought that was a stupid decision. 3,000 USD is a huge money but not a life changing one. It is not even that big to start a big business. Most likely he quit his job out of adrenaline and happiness. Do not make big decisions like that after winning a big amount of money. Quit your job if you have successfully built that 3,000 to grow.
Stop a job after winning $3000. I have different questions which may not have answers but was he making less than $50 a month to be able to make that kind of decision, like I don't get. What was the plan, did he have some plans before quiting the job or he was maltreated from his previous place of work? If he is doing okay before leaving the job for another, then I think he is absolutely out of his mind, he may be lucky to win this amount of money but he is not okay in the head. I don't know for other employer, if I found out that you quit your job because you won $3000 and crawl back begging to be accepted or want a work after your previous job with this kind of altitude, I will never higher you again because the day you win $1m, you might probably going to put my place of work at danger because of what you think gambling money can give to you. If you want to quit a job, do so but don't do it for stupid reasons like this winning money.

interesting story, I cannot believe that someone foolishly quit his job because of 3 thousand dollars, for an amount that can get exhausted in a matter of days. like you said, he most likely quit his job due to adrenaline spikes or something because I can't explain why anyone in their right mind would do that. Maybe it is his first winning experience, with time he will adjust and be used to it

Quitting a job for a mere $3,000 is plain stupid. $3000 is a small amount, even as a fund to kickstart a new business. What I say is that the person is lazy and short-sighted. Just because he won that amount, he thinks that he is set for life. Little did he know that $3000 can't even last two years if he doesn't have a source of funds and relies solely on that amount. Not saying that it is also possible that he keeps on gambling and losing. So whether it is brave or stupid is answered by what he is doing now. And I can conclude that it is really stupid on his part because he is now looking for a job to support his daily needs.

Of course it's a stupid decision if you ask me. If I win such amount I would not rush too quickly to quite my job know too well that any of such thing may happen. $3kay look so big to Gambler who has been losing for a long time, and he may feel that such amount can be used to build fortune, but unfortunately he didn't know it was smaller than he thinks, perhaps he only knew that after losing his Job. Well all I can say is that everything that happens to us in life is a lesson. So that is one of the best lessons he has ever learnt.

The story seems strange, for some reason I doubt if such person is normal to an extend quitting his job just because of gambling win. I guess if everyone behaves in such manner then the wealthy don’t need to work again instead they just have to gamble and gamble regular hoping for a huge win, definitely gambling win is certain as a matter of fact gambling win record is considered higher compared to loses. What’s the possibility after quitting such person will be able to manage the funds rightly, the example above says it all and the person in question lost all the money. Risking a lifetime job especially a government opportunity sounds difficult, if I’m not mistaking the person never liked the job else there’s no valid reason to quit after a huge win.

How could that be a brave thing to do at all? There is nothing to be brave in that, it's plain stupidity to quit your job after winning a certain amount in gambling, unless it is a huge amount that you know is going to solve all your problems, let you start a good business, so that you don't need the job anymore. When you know that the amount is not going to help you do any of that, quitting your job in such a situation is foolish. Even if he hadn't lost the money back, he would probably not be able to have a better life in general with that, as he would spend it pretty soon and then need money again. Quitting your job is only understandable when you know that your source of income is already sorted somehow, and you are not going face financial problems if you quit your job, because only having a plan for what you are going to do is not enough for you to quit your job, even if you are about to start a business, you should start that first, see if it works, and then close your already existing source of income when you realize that now you are making enough money from your other thing and don't need the job anymore.

Gambling is not something one needs to rely on. It is a game where anything can happen in the end. I see no reason why one should rely on gambling over their own job. Gambling is unpredictable and uncertain, but the money one earns from their job is always constant, and we always come back. If one wants to gamble, then it is fine, but it shouldn't be what one relies on or placed at a higher level than a job that generates steady income for you.

Firstly let me start by saying this "no matter how huge the money you have is, if you spend it lavishly, you will definitely become poor one day". Although this money may be small for business in some country but it's still ok to start something good in some country. He could have started something with it if he's wise.

You don't need a public opinion to validate his stupid decision since you already confirmed that it was a stupid one too. No body will clap for him and say it's a brave action, even if he was underpaid in that job he should not have quit unless he has already gotten another well paying job. His actions would have been considered brave if he had made an investment with the money.

Quitting your job after winning a decent amount from gambling, that is not bravery, but more on stupidity, especially if you have lost everything due to consistent gambling.
Even if you are still winning consistently, leaving a good and well compensated job is never reasonable. You are just thinking for short term happiness but not for long term goal. Much better if you still keep your job, and invest your winning amount, and just gamble only whenever you have extra money since luck is only rare to happen in gambling.

He's plain st*pid. Think of those people who made so much money in holding profitable crypto, Bitcoin or any altcoin. Many of them didn't quit their job and live a lowkey life enjoying the money that they have earned. Just don't be so naive when you're going to take decisions like this one. Don't ignore how hard it is to get a job but if you think that amount would sustain you and can be put into good use through a business or such, everyone has to make their own move. But as for me, I won't leave my job just because of that.

The fact that he came back in search for a job proves that it was a stupid idea, I don’t know your country and the dollar rate there but in my country 3000 dollars might be good but not enough to make you to quit your job. If at all you want to quit your job because of something like that, then you should try to at least set up a business that you know will be able to generate a good cash flow for you. That impromptu quitting was a stupid decision and we can all agree on that one.

One can decide to quit his job and use his winning amount to start a small business, that's actually the winner's choice. But if it means quitting his job so he can focus on gambling thinking it could grow his money, that's a stupid way of thinking. No one succeeded on that idea and consistently beat the casino.
However, if the winner is working on a low paid job yet the job requires a lot of overtime and stress, I guess he is smart enough to leave it and find a new job that will not ruin his well being. That's more on being smart than bravery.

Where does someone live when 3k is enough to make someone even dream to quit a job? That's like one month living expenses for one in where i live, if i tighten my belt. I don't think there's amount that would make me quit anything i like to do anyways. I would definitely cut down my hours of working if i would win something like 100k, but that wouldn't last long, as it would mostly go to savings and investing anyway. But yeah, that's stupid from my point of view, and i don't think being brave is being successful while doing something stupid. Being brave is facing your fears, what ever they may be.

I'm reading this and I'm completely dumbfounded, it is absolutely stupid for someone to.quit his job just because he won 3000 dollars. this has nothing to do with bravery it is stupidity of the highest order. That amount of money isn't even a huge amount to begin with so I don't know why he would allow himself to be controlled by such a little amount. people like this always end up poor because imagine if je won amount bigger then this then he would feel like he doesn't have to work for the rest of life, that's a poor way of thinking

Could be he quilted his job out of ill advice and must have felt he has arrived on winning $3000 which happens to be what other gamblers spend in making their bets. But regardless , for someone who has to quit his job the right intent would have being to start a business of his own to see to it that he doesn't have to depend on gambling for further wins but unfortunately he ended at losing all that money back to the house.

Technically, you can still start a business with this amount of money. A micro/small business is possible. However, it doesn’t guarantee that it’ll be successful enough or that fast to sustain your daily needs for you to consider quitting your job immediately. To be honest, it’s still a small amount of money to consider quitting without a plan on what you’re going to do next. Yes, it’s a big win if it’s on gambling since not everyone can be lucky enough to win such amount of money on gambling. But in reality and today’s inflation, that amount would not last you a year.
Starting a business is also like a gambling and has risks. Either it’ll be successful or not. This happens a lot to gamblers who win huge amount of money instantly. They usually make rush decisions without thinking because of the excitement they have.

That is stupid to quit his job because winning $3,000. If he can be wise, he will not quit his job and saving his wins money for his future. He can still work as usual but he secure his future with that money.
He can using the money to invests or build a business but he doesn't have to quit his job. That will help him to still earn salary to fills his needs.
He already choose and we see what happened to him. It is precious lesson to us that we can take. We do not have doing the same if we wins big money. We must stops gambling and not expects to win another big money because it is gambling.
