Since it's the easiest way to buy Bitcoins right now, besided the ATMs, it's a great news for potential adoption by non-tech savyy people Smiley
But selling there is still risky, because of Paypal chargebacks, though they might correct that to go with the eBay announcement?

I don't understand the point. They are still banning users who deal with Bitcoins or Bitcoin mining equipment.

Until they sort the paypal fraud chargebacks it wont really matter. People will still get scammed out of their coins no doubt.

It's not huge. They can remove it just as fast (and they have a history of adding sections and then removing them).

I suspect their lawyers told them they can let people sell crypto so they'll probably give it a spin for a bit.

I am guessing a regulated exchange can change that  Roll Eyes

Well hopefully this will encourage the reputable miner resellers of machines like GridSeeds and Antminers to list and there is proper eBay buyer protection. Then we have somewhere to send the newbies for hardware where they don't have the bitcoin acquisition barrier and have a lower chance of losing money.

In the exchange rate? This is a very minor step. It will have no effect at all.

For the love of all that is holy, STOP worshipping the fiat exchange rate!!!

That rate is WRONG to begin with because it assigns a monetary value to fiat greater than 0!

Give the world time to figure out just how obsolete fiat is, the exchange rate will correct itself. This will take years, not days, by the way.

Remember Aaron Swartz, a 26 year old computer scientist who died defending the free flow of information.

While this will not have any material impact on the bitcoin usd rate, the inclusion by ebay is good news for the adoption of bitcoins. ebay and paypal have had history of listing and de-listing. Lets see if this one sticks around.

I expected bigger change in the BTC rate...

Frequently in the last month CoinDesk has had more than a page worth of "Good news" headlines in a day, "it" is happening, BUT the China FUD has been overwhelming it.

I don't have any faith in Ebay. They have issued no statement about it. It is good news, if they actually permits the sale of Bitcoin and other accessories in the site. But I need confirmation.
