This is too clean, it's neat but I don't think that's what happened. Apple didn't win when there were two giants distracted. Apple knew something basic that the others might missed and it was to do with what people wanted.

Competition is not a choice you are making. The market is there whether you acknowledge your competitors or not. And they're certainly not going to stop paying attention to you just because you've decided to "focus on excellence" or whatever.

This conflation between rivalry and competition is ridiculous. Rivalry is emotional. It's personal. It makes you do stupid things to hurt your opponent even when it doesn't help you. Competition is nothing more than the environment. It's structural. And you're in competition whether you like it or not.

Microsoft's problem was not that they competed with Google. Their problem was they were competing on Google's terms instead of finding their own axis. That's different.

Google's dominance in Artificial Intelligence now wasn't the result of ignoring everyone else. It came from reading where technology was going correctly and investing before other people. That requires an awareness of the landscape, not ignorance of it.

Competition between companies isn't always negative; there are positive aspects as well. However, the negativity lies in the mindset of company decision-makers when they transform competition into a war where their sole objective is to outperform the competitor by any means necessary.

At the same time, a company’s inability to compete may lead to its exit from the market, as happened with large companies like Kodak, which was a leader in the camera and film industry, but failed to adapt to the digital revolution. Although it was one of the first companies to develop digital cameras, it did not invest enough in this direction, which led to its bankruptcy in 2012.

This example explains the huge negative impact of competition or turning competition into rivalry or war, it eliminates focus and creates enemity in the mind, which is the creator of new ideas and knowledge, when in business build a strong edge on focus, stay active in giving the best, and abandon competition, it distracts the goals you've set and brings down the value the company once created, for focusing on a war that has no purpose or meaning. Think about this, and share your thoughts or experience.
no, competition makes you more motivated. to improve, to innovate, to be better. without threats, there will be complacency. there’s some healthy competition in having rivals or enemies
Nokia is now out of the market, but Android and iphone are in our hands. Just because of compittion. Its customer who get higher advantage due to strict compition in the market. It is a driving force that push to create something new or something best. But yes oftenly it becomes costly when the intentions turn into bad thinking. Sometimes big companies make change in the goods just to kick off the small one. Create problems for the small industries because of jealousyjealousy rather than innovative. The war on competition basically limit the growth  or drain the energyenergy instead of creating progress.

One more thing that i have noticed, when one company launch any brands, then many small industries came and start making cheap copy of that articles. These cheep copies is not good in quality or not meet the Standard, it is although a competition but indirectly its give harm to the original brands or confuses the customer. So in such cases competition become stress and costly. with the time this negativity slow the progress wheras Healthy competition always encourage creativity and imrpoved quality

Imagine you have a company or a business, but you don’t want to improve it. Eventually, it ends up bankrupt because people/customer choose other companies that provide more up to date service. That’s what I think is happening between them. Competition is normal because companies want to survive and many workers lives depend on it.

From the start, we’re already taught how to compete with others like getting rank 1, getting good grades and so on. In the end, life is about competition but it can turn into something negative or something positive. Just like Google and Apple although they look like they’re at war with each other, their competition drives technological advancement which ultimately makes people’s lives easier.

No, Google and Apple are in a great relationship with one another. They both have a long lasting search engine deal that allows google to be the default search machine for Safari browser, Google pays a lot in billions for this privilege. Lately, the two companies also share deals regarding the AI race, so, nothing looks like war between these two tech giants.

For some reasons I think you’ve painted most of the advantages that could arise from competitions of this nature into the negative.

It is in competitions that we get the very best of innovations, good services and products offered at a fair price or even cheap. The hate between the companies doesn’t have any meaning as, they wouldn’t have needs to be using each others products or even share knowledge on some of the techs that is supposedly to make them better. That’s why, certain restaurants don’t share their secret formula or recipes. It’s a trade secret on what makes you better and you offer that in your products to stand out.

When you want to beat them, you get to research and provide something better. All that are positives from healthy competitions. Unhealthy competitions comes in the aspect of corruptions, using money to bribe your way into some monopoly.

It's been more than a decade since Google and Microsoft turnedout to be rivals over market dominance; Chrome vs Explorer, Google search vs Bing, Google cloud vs Azure, Microsoft 365 vs Google Workspace, Windows vs Chrome Os, the both companies topped Apple in market cap, but war and competition made them lose focus to Apple, in 2013, when they were both surpassed by Apple with $500 billion, while Google and Microsoft combined had $467 billion. It remained that way, unless for 2019 for a short time, not until this January when Google for the first time surpassed Apple with $3.98 trillion while apple market cap is $3.76 trillion, which growth was drown to the AI race, giving google a much better dominance in the market.

I think the conclusion might be a bit overstretched because competition itself isn’t necessarily the problem, i feel it is how that competition is managed. In many cases, competition actually forces companies to innovate, improve products, and stay relevant and without rivals, there is a risk of complacency, which can be just as dangerous as distraction. Apple’s rise, in that sense, highlights the power of deep focus, strong product vision, and long-term execution, rather than an absence of competition. Google and Microsoft did not lose relevance simply because they competed with each other, but because at certain points their attention was divided across too many battles at once. So, yeah competition should exist as a benchmark and a motivator, not as a war to be won, because when rivalry becomes the main objective, it slowly pulls focus away from innovation, purpose, and the value a company was originally created to deliver.

Google and Microsoft worked hard to surpass each other. These two technology companies gave Apple a chance to come out on top in the battle to surpass each other. When it came to the forefront Apple ruled the technology company for a long time and made a lot of progress but it was not permanent. Google chose AI to be permanent and left everyone behind. This is a choice in which Google is difficult to surpass. Apple does not make a stronger choice with AI for some time Google will remain No 1 in the technology world and people will remain most dependent on Google

Competition is a very good asset for business but the truth is that, it should always be a healthy competition else it becomes a major stepping stone to downfall.
When I was reading, I was shocked that chrome was far behind not until I read further to when it took it flowered because in recent times, chrome and  google has done very well and I think they have been in very often use in recent times as I have seen iOS users also using google and chromes softwares on their devices which is also a show of it's relevance and I think they gained this because of the ease to use their worksheets.

Just my 2 cents observations.

I have a principle that everything that is excessive will bring adverse effect, even it is a good thing like competition. Discuss about competition and business, reminding me on this sentences

DESTRUCTION IS JOB NO.1 (before the competitor does it to us)...by Tom Peters

On his book he talks about system and asumption destruction, simply he said competition not destroy weak company but its destroy  company which are too loyyual with the past because stability is ilusion, comfortness is a risk and past success is the biggest enemy of business owner. From this sentences i learn that in this VUCA era with super fast on communication and information, excellence is rapidly outdated, market did'n wait until business ready, if company didn't do reviewing and destroying their old model, competitor will forcely destroy it. So i think competition is good thing and as a matter of fact competition is reality we can't pause or avoid. with competition we questioned our self about what is success formula, all our old asumption can be wrong and we try to dismantle company's dogma. I can conclude competition is an upgrade mecanism to build capacity and resilience. Fair competition bring thingking about what am i supposed to improve and perfect time to move or to stop.

For me individually, competition offer return opportunity, faster growth and also fatal false risk, when i over competitive usually i do over invest in time, energy and money, too reactive and doesn't have buffer and orget about survive first principle. All depend on each individual or company to make dividing line for healthy tolerable competition.

But I am sure that the way they compete is not what we think it is. Sometimes, without us knowing, they may be working together behind the scenes. And the competition on the surface may just be a cover or something similar to create competitiveness and even excitement among the users of the products themselves, who sometimes praise the products they use while disparaging the other, even though the two competing products may have a partnership that we never knew about.
At least this is one strategy I use in my small business as well. For example, opening two restaurants with different names but under the same ownership. It sounds odd, but it turns out to be quite effective.   Cheesy

Competition actually strive the company to create something unique in return gained extra profit and large market cap. If not for competition I wonder if any company will create a better and comfortable service for customers so I don’t consider business competition as negative, the only problem that needs to be resolve is the issue created along the line.
Not quite long google added AI mode, it’s a good initiative. You can’t predict if this is war kind of thing when every company is trying their possible best to accomplish a goal definitely you don’t expect same achievement instead different goals with different accomplishment.

This global business competition has sparked global tensions between countries.
I once read in a book that the world will always be in turmoil because of business competition. From a positive perspective, competition among large companies, as mentioned above, can have a positive impact on consumers in terms of receiving better products because what is being sold is not only products but also ideas and other things of higher value. However, when chaos ensues, it has a negative impact.
Well that is literally entire purpose of USA and what they do. They are claiming that yes the normal people live a worse life, but they have higher capital companies. Like in exchange of being able to make companies like Nvidia or Apple, or Amazon etc, they have a horrible life, whereas in Europe for example there is no big company like that and yet people are living a great life. Hell even the wealthy in Europe do not evade taxes as much as American companies does, they still do, just in smaller amount.

In reality, Europeans live a better life, and surely some twitter trolls will share rare videos of situations that look bad, but look at how great those people live and realize you do no need trillion dollar companies, you need happy people.
The capitalist system that they have also states "yes drug companies charge so much that some people may die because they can't afford medical bills, but that also means drug companies can use that as research money to get new and better drugs". So they are fine with people dying because of lack of money, as long as it means progress for their capitalist lords.

If a nation thinks that new drugs are better than human life, because they think it saves human life, they are quite obvious who they prefer to win. Plus, not like we have seen them cure cancer or anything, you do not need trillions just to get diabetes injections. USA has always said "I want my companies to grow, even if it means people may die" and they will always prefer that.

Not quite long google added AI mode, it’s a good initiative. You can’t predict if this is war kind of thing when every company is trying their possible best to accomplish a goal definitely you don’t expect same achievement instead different goals with different accomplishment.
x has grok and google came out with ai mode there will be more ai projects launched soon by different platforms or softwares trying to one up the other and it is up to us to see which one comes out with the best one

Competition actually drives and motivates companies to develop. Let's say that you created a smartphone and you don't have any competitor, you are alone on the market. Why will you invest money in development when you are the only player of the market and absolutely everyone depends on you? But if someone appears with a better smartphone than you, then you shake your head and invest into research and development because the competitor is a threat to your business. Then you create a better product than your competitor, then your competitor will try to create a better product than your is and this is going on endlessly. Without competition, there is simply no desire to move forward.

Think of this, If I built a smartphone that doesn't require ISP to access and send information through the internet, I'd have to monopolize the technology for a long duration before a competitor shows up, this would fetch my company too much profits and aswell give the world market a strong technology that'll yeild lots of profits to boost the economy.

This is the kind of monopoly that makes changes, instead of trying to do similar things like other existing platforms has done, doing something entirely different is what is needed, not competing with ideas that are already in the market, that's a waste of time and money, the competitors will have to share or drag the funds circulating around the technology, therefore little profits on the long run.

What is the next on capitalist agenda, make sure that there is no competition to companies anymore? Of course competition is needed, if you think that google and Microsoft fighting ended up making apple bigger, you have no idea what these companies are all about.

Sure google and Microsoft had overlapping stuff, but google is a company that makes most of it's money on ads, nothing that Microsoft can fight against and to be fair Microsoft is better on OS and computer systems compared to that. So you get a Microsoft windows pc, open up google chrome and earn both of them money, whereas apple was selling something similar, computers, with other browsers. So all in all, I can say that competition made all three better.
