It's been more than a decade since Google and Microsoft turnedout to be rivals over market dominance; Chrome vs Explorer, Google search vs Bing, Google cloud vs Azure, Microsoft 365 vs Google Workspace, Windows vs Chrome Os, the both companies topped Apple in market cap, but war and competition made them lose focus to Apple, in 2013, when they were both surpassed by Apple with $500 billion, while Google and Microsoft combined had $467 billion. It remained that way, unless for 2019 for a short time, not until this January when Google for the first time surpassed Apple with $3.98 trillion while apple market cap is $3.76 trillion, which growth was drown to the AI race, giving google a much better dominance in the market.

This example explains the huge negative impact of competition or turning competition into rivalry or war, it eliminates focus and creates enemity in the mind, which is the creator of new ideas and knowledge, when in business build a strong edge on focus, stay active in giving the best, and abandon competition, it distracts the goals you've set and brings down the value the company once created, for focusing on a war that has no purpose or meaning. Think about this, and share your thoughts or experience.

It may be "costly" but is actually good for the consumer because in the absence of decent competition then goods and services are doomed to stagnate. If it wasn't for Apple we might still be using palm pilots, blackberries and old school Nokia phones - they drove forward innovation with the first mass produced, easy to use touch screen phones. It is actually very bad when a company has a monopoly in a certain area because they get complacent and start to squeeze customers in ways that they have no choice but to pay. Governments should always be pushing back on this behavior, especially because these bigger companies also have a tendency to buy out any smaller competitors who look like they might threaten their market position.

From consumer point of view, i think competition from producer give more benefit than disadvantages, especially in the end what producer concerned is market needed.  Competition are natural mechanism for consumer protection, without it they don't have iniciative to reduce price, increase quality or create inovation, which in the end resulting real best solution for consumer. Without competition, no alternative no competitive price with discount and promos. Producer will increase product quality with minimum cost  to avoid consumer choose competitor's. Minimum cost also mean fixing production line, technology optimalization and efective distribution and the most important thing big producer start truly listening consumer's complain throught consumer services or hotline which mean faster response initiative, better services and give guarantee to keep their reputation.

Monopoly is structure that never brings advantage but only disadvantage to the citizens but makes the monopolist wealthy. Apart from the production made by Apple, anywhere Monopoly exists never experience advantages but more of disadvantage because they operate with a central motive of generating more profits instead of making both profit generations and human satisfaction in equilibrium.  Because of the unfavourable outcome of Monopoly,  nations never adapt to it except they have a price control system that helps checkmates prices of commodities but even with that it is still significantly disastrous.
One of the disadvantage of Monopoly is the reduction of competition and the increment of fixed operating system.

Competition between companies isn't always negative; there are positive aspects as well. However, the negativity lies in the mindset of company decision-makers when they transform competition into a war where their sole objective is to outperform the competitor by any means necessary.

By any means necessary could be a really elaborate statement but, in as much as that ensures the company plays by the rules and not do anything illegal such as, trying to restrict other collaborations and create a form of monopoly on aspects that contributes to the success of competitors, I would say that’s still a healthy competition and competitions do exist to make companies better and ensure consumer’s right protection.

That example explains nothing, and you are wrong for saying that such a war has no purpose, sure it does, how can you expect not to have competition in a business? That's literally impossible. No matter what kind of a business you have or are starting, you should always expect to have business rivals, and that's a normal thing. Two companies from the same industry, selling similar products, will surely have same customers most of the times, and they will have to strive to do better than the other if they want to stay ahead in the competition, and that isn't war, that is competition, and you have every right to try every tactic you can to stay ahead of your rival in the business.

I wouldn't call all this being purposeless, I would say that is what they have to do to eventually get on top, or at least beat their rivals.
